Good for a short break

We spent a couple of days in this pleasant site. The pitch was wide and flat and with the dog walk behind us we had a leafy aspect. The easy walk through the site brings you to the main road, where there is a pub, if you don't feel like cooking. This is where the bus stops for Sidmouth in one direction and Honiton in the other. Both places are worth visiting. The toilet and showers were clean and new. The wardens could have been a bit friendlier, but we would return.

Disappointed

We felt the site was far too cramped.  There was no sunlight at any time.  We were troubled by road noise and it is under the flight path to Exeter. It was nearly full but the Warden did not tell us which pitches were available which meant us going all round the site to spot the empty pitch! We asked for direction of television transmitter and were told they do not know. After 38 years as a member this site was very disappointing.

Woodland haven

Just enjoyed a week at Putts Corner. We landed in a thunderstorm and weren't too sure if we had chosen the site for us. How wrong we were. Beautiful woodland surroundings full of wildlife. Would love to return in the Spring. We have noted complaints of noise from road and flight paths, however, we didn't feel the road noise was intrusive at all even though we we were pitched next to the road. Flights weren't a problem to us at all but we like planes and saw the spitfire fly over on a lovely afternoon. Flights to us were not detrimental at all. People have different expectations of quiet and noise levels. We just enjoyed the bird song and owls at night. Facilities were spotless, wardens were helpful and good fun. Great pub just a short walk through the woodland so no road to walk up and bus stop at the top of the hill. The only negative to us was the dog walk and only in the fact that our dogs are energetic and need a run, however, there is woodland across from the entrance to the site and the wardens will advise you of other areas close by. We will definately return. Great areas around to visit. Sidmouth, Ottery, Beer bay, Branscombe, the list goes on. We will be back.

Not a relaxing holiday

First impressions, site had too many pitches, too close together . Toilets and showers were lovely and clean. We stay there whilst the tour de Britain was being staged and the route did pass right outside the site, felt that the wardens could have made an effort to promoting this advent . The site was noisy , flight pass to Exeter airport. Good local pub near bye .

Brief stay, shan't be back!

Only had a short stay here but was not impressed.  First the positives, the toilets were immaculate, although the ladies at the top was a bit smelly.  The security was good with key operated barriers.  There is a good pub within walking distance through the site.  The information room had a good selection of tourist leaflets, places to eat etc.  Now for the down side, from our perspective of course, we were in a motorhome and like a fellow reviewer found little to do without transport.  The road is very busy and close to the site, therefore, it is dangerous to walk down and can be heard from most parts of the site.  Much of the site is dark and gloomy with some pitches in deep shade for most of the day.  Along the area where the serviced pitches are there are too many pitches and it is cramped with little privacy.  The Wardens were not particularly friendly or helpful.  Finally you are on the flight path to Exeter airport with regular flights coming and going directly overhead, coupled with the road noise this is definitely not the most peaceful site we have experienced! Sadly we shall not be returning but if you have transport and don't mind noise the surrounding area has lots to offer the holiday maker.

No buses on a Sunday

Spent 2 nights here (sat / sun) while in the area. Very busy site and when we arrived there was only 1 pitch left, right by the entrance gate and the dog walk area, which involved most of the site walking past us with their dogs all day. The next morning we moved further up the site and it was much better. We are in a motorhome and tend to rely on bikes or public transport but the lady in reception said none run on Sunday's, however we took the van to sidmouth which was lovely. The lanes are very narrow quite busy and steep so not ideal in a large van or a bicycle. A good base if you have a car to get around not so good in a motorhome.

Lovely Site

Stayed at Putts Corner for a long weekend, the site is well laid out with hardstanding terrace pitches. Wardens were very friendly, and the facilities we spotless. Will definitely be returning to Putts Corner in the future.
