Lovely site

We stayed here for one night last week on the way to see our daughter in Cornwall. We will definitely be coming back. Lovely welcome from the wardens who are obviously very proud of their site and it shows in the cleanliness. Great pitches and a 5 minute walk through woodland to the local pub who do good meals. Easy access from the A30 if travelling South West. We will be returning but for a bit longer next time to explore the area.

Peaceful site

We really enjoyed this site, we did go in April which meant it was not very busy but everything was neat, tidy and clean. There was a path to the local pub which was just a few minutes away and a short drive to East Hills were there was plenty of dog walking. The dog walk on site was a big disappointment, right next to the road with only trees and shrubs so impossible to let your dog off the lead, pity it couldn't be fenced. Fortunately we had found the local place to walk the dogs as the wardens did not mention it at all. A good place to stay if you wish to explore East Devon being so close to Sidmouth and surrounding area.

Four fantastic ladies

This is the first site we have stayed at on the network, run entirely by an all girl team. It was a pleasure to stay. The facilities are spotless, and everywhere is kept up to a very high standard. All jobs carried out with a smile and a wave. All the girls say hello and stop and chat and take genuine time to stop and listen to us the punters. We had a lovely time and will re-visit at the back end of the season. I say bring on "The Girl Power" with service like this. We stayed on Pitch 56, which overlooks fields and the outlook is lovely. But when the grass pitches open it will probably be like a car park. Come on CAMC give us some room !

Another excellent site for enjoying Devon

With the huge amount of rain the area had had, the site was severely water logged but the pitches were well drained. Putts Corner site is superbly located to get to so many places of interest - the Jurassic Coast, Exeter and its glorious cathedral, charming Sidmouth and Lyme Regis etc. The newly renovated facilities block looks delightful and is excellent (at the time of writing, only the facilities block near the check-in area was renovated). I would have no hesitation in recommending this site to solo travellers as well as families....and I look forward to returning later in the year.

A Great White start to the Season

Just back from a rather wonderful, and slightly extended, stay at this great site.

The South East of Devon suffered from the “mini” beast from the east weather phenomenon, which meant a sudden dip in temperatures and several feet of snowfall. The Putts Corner site wasn’t spared from the elements and having arrived at the site on Friday, we soon found ourselves coping coping with freezing temperatures and constant snowfall.

The Wardens here were simply brilliant, welcoming on arrival and incredibly helpful (despite the difficult weather conditions) throughout our stay.

The snowfall continued…. but my wife was particularly happy that the small shop in reception had chocolate in stock…most of which I seem to have purchased over the weekend :)

A word on the site facilities at this point. They are excellent, clean and in very good condition....And, given the weather the heated floor on the amenities block was a real treat.

Usually there’s lots to do in Devon, however the heavy snowfall put paid to any thoughts of visiting anywhere. Nothing for it then, but a visit (or as it turned out, several visits) to the pub... which fortunately is a short walk up the hill on a woodland path signposted from the site. Boots or wellies required of course, but well worth the effort. The Hare and Hounds is really rather good and a great place to have a beer and a meal, especially when the weather is bleak outside! All welcome, including dogs.

By Monday it appeared that we weren’t going anywhere due to the weather and we would have to stay an extra night, something we hadn’t bargained for. Once again the wardens rose to the occasion, and offered to go to the nearest supermarket for supplies as the snowdrifts would have made travel for us an exceptionally difficult endeavour, if not an impossible one. Collecting a few groceries for us using their 4x4 truly was “going over and above” and the staff should be commended.

So, would we come here again. Absolutely. Just in better weather!

End of Season visit

Stayed for 5 nights at the end of the season and had a lovely quiet time. Site was clean tidy and well presented. Despite being very busy the wardens were very friendly and helpful. Would definitely return again, its a very nice site

Excellent Site

I knew of the site so being up on Exmoor and the impending storm Brian we decided to move to Putts Corner because of the shelter it would give. We weren't wrong. The storm blew overhead but we were nice and sheltered. We did pitch against the trees on the right as you go into the site but this proved a poor choice as there was a lot of road noise from the adjacent B road. The wardens were very obliging when we asked if we could move. We moved further into the site and the road noise all but disappeared. The only other noise problem was that of aircraft. The site is right under the flight path to Exeter airport. Although the end of the season the site was well looked after and the upper toilet block was in the process of being painted. The lower block was superb. Modern and very warm. The wardens provide a twice weekly service of going to the local fish and chip shop which was a nice touch and so where the fish and chips. The local pub, The Hare & Hounds is a very short walk, about 200yds, by a worn footpath through the woods but beware if the weather is wet the path is muddy. The site location is very central for this part of southern Devon and the local bus goes to Honiton and Sidmouth from outside the pub. Overall we enjoyed the stay but as someone who likes peace and quiet I marked that score down to 3 but would certain recommend the site. Someone mentioned the amount of trees. Yes there are but on this occasion the were most welcome

Last minute booking

We were originally booked in to a CL nearby, but due to it being waterlogged and unsafe, we arranged to call at Putts corner. We were welcomed at reception and efficiently booked in. The wardens were extremely helpful and friendly. We originally booked in for 6 nights but stayed for another 3 nights. Loved it there will stay again when in the area. Gill & Richard Brown

I ❤️ Putts Corner

Our 2nd visit to this lovely site. We could not fault anything at all. Amazing Wardens, who on our arrival, were dealing with no power on site, due to off site essential works somewhere. No power, no facilities! But they dealt with it all with a smile. The site it’s self is lovely, huge pitches. 2 very good facilities blocks, kept immaculately sparklingly clean. And a very good wooded dog walk, with a very nice pub at the end! Bonus. The pub serves food all day too. From the site there are just so many places to visit like Sidmouth, Exeter, Exmouth, Seaton, Lyme Regis, and the lovely little fishing village of Beer. All not too far away. Altogether Putts Corner is a great site which we be visiting again very soon.

Friendly helpful staff, shame about speed of drivers on site

My absolute hate on any sites is the speed at which some people drive and this site is no exception. Solo cars, motorhomes and cars towing all driving too fast if a child should run out in front of them. Does no-one follow the 5mph speed limit? Toilets, showers and washing up areas all spotlessly clean and warm. Staff helpful and friendly. We initially pitched up at the top of the site, not realising how noisy the road was behind us, but it wasn't a problem for us to move to another pitch. Just beware of the beech nuts falling from the trees all night when pitched under one of the many trees. Difficult to find a pitch not under a tree as most were occupied. I do feel this site needs better lighting at night. It was extremely dark when walking to the shower block and difficult to separate the road from the pitches.Great phone and internet signal if you use EE and need to keep in contact with the outside world.
