This was our first visit to Poolsbrook and originally only booked for a couple of days but we loved it so much we extended our stay! The wardens couldn't have been any more friendly or helpful. When we first enquired about extending our stay the site was fully booked but the warden came and advised us they had a cancellation so we were able to book additional nights. The site itself is spotless including the facilities, very impressed. The location is close to many attractions if you fancy a day out however the country park itself has some lovely walks so you don't have to travel far at all! Our dogs loved it! There is a fabulous play area in the park which is great for families with children. Can't recommend it enough and we can't wait to return!
Wonderful wardens and perfect stopover
It is difficult to find something new to say about Poolsbrook because it is a regular stopover for us. But one day we will stay longer because the site is wonderful - one of the best - and there are good reasons to dally longer in that area. I was sad to learn that the wonderful welcoming and friendly wardens are retiring after several years at Poolsbrook. Their successors next year have a hard act to follow.
Excellent Weekend
We had a fantastic few days on the Poolsbrook Site, the staff were very friendly
and helpful, the facility's were excellent with nice walks and the county Park on the door step. Highly recommend this site, will go back again before the end of the year,
Did the job
When we arrived the warden was very friendly and polite and we got sorted straight away.
The site is new and the shower block is excellent, one of the biggest we've seen, with plenty of room in the cubicles.
We went out on a couple of bike rides while we were there and they were good, well signposted. The ride along the canal is interesting with the Hub cafe having some very nice cakes.
Chatsworth isn't too far away if you have transport and it's always worth a visit.
The site does a job, but it's not in a good area unless you're stopping off for an odd night. Easy access from the M1.
Pity really but there was a lot of dog barking and not much control of them when we were there. I suspect this wasn't the norm, annoying when it happens though.
Won't be back unless we need a stopover, did the job we needed it to.

Excellent site and the wardens were very helpful and friendly
We have recently stayed at this site for the first time and thought it was lovely. The facilities and site were extremely clean and the wardens were lovely and very helpful. The location is excellent for families, dog walking, fishing and cycling and walking. We also found a friendly pub in Staveley which you can walk to called Harleys. We have rebooked for a few weeks time we enjoyed it so much
PERFECTO PARA EL CAMINO A ESCOCIA
LOS TRABAJADORES MUY SIMPÁTICOS Y AMABLES, SIEMPRE DISPUESTOS A AYUDAR.
LUGAR MUY TRANQUILO, MUY CUIDADO Y MUY LIMPIO.
IDEAL PARA HACER UN ALTO EN EL CAMINO HACIA ESCOCIA.
VOLVEREMOS.
Spotless
One of the best sites we have been on. The showers and toilets were spotlessly clean. Beautiful surroundings, lovely dog walks. The only thing that spoilt our visit was when we had arrived ten minutes early after a three hour journey I thought I would let my dog stretch her legs and see what the site was like. I was rudely shouted at by a warden " was I new and to walk my dog else where" . I thought this was very rude of him and my only regret was I didn't take his name.

Best site yet.
The best site that we have found so far. Suits families, dog lovers, cyclists, walkers and anglers. Spotless facilities and friendly and helpfull wardens. Will be back again soon.
lovely site
Had a good time here, friendly staff good clean facilities.Had trouble with power lead warden helped out along with another onsite camper.Fishing was good.Nice walk into Stavely along trail.Good for local buses and Chesterfield Matlock. Will be coming back again.
Good cycling
A very welcoming site with excellent toilets/ showers.
We wanted to go on a nice bike ride and joined the Trans-Pennine trail from the site, then along the canal towpath to Chesterfield. Lovely ( both off-road and flat - double bonus). We returned (as recommended on the cycling map) through the golf course and along some back roads and cycleways but it was very hilly and not well-signposted. A lovely tour though. I agree that the site shop could be better stocked.
