Model site

This is quite clearly a relatively new site and it shows. It is well laid out, well screened by trees and the facilities are top notch. It is very well located for our needs accessing friends and family in the local area. We are regular visitors and love it for short stays. There is an adjacent lake which has a pleasant circular walk around it - ideal for dogs!

First time for everything

First time on a caravan club site and first time at Poolsbrook so perhaps this may not be a review with anything to compare against. We stayed here for 2 nights in April 2016 and we're extremely happy with the site. Its only 5 minutes from M1 J29A so very handy as a base for South Yorkshire and Derbyshire or an overnight stay if you dont want to park up in the services. We were welcomed by the lady warden who took the time to explain the amenities to me. Upon pitching up we were welcomed by two ducks wandering passed our van. The pitches are all level and tidy, gravel construction. EHU post is shared between 2 pitches. The toilet block is immaculately kept. Showers were nice and hot. Minor complaint is that there isn't a lot of water coming from the shower for my liking but this is an eco-friendly site so water conservation is probably the reason for this. Otherwise it's just a case of taking a bit longer to rinse off.  There is a dog walk around the outside of the pitches, used also by joggers and cyclists. If constant chattering annoys you, don't go for one of the outer pitches. Ultimately though, this site was perfect for what we needed and I would not hesitate to stay here again.

Better than expected

We chose this site because of it's proximity to the Chesterfield Canal. However, we were pleasantly surprised to find it had several other attractions. We use a motorhome, so, proximity to shops and public transport is relevant to us, this site has both of those. The site is located on the edge of a Country Park, with plentiful walking trails and cycling trails. Upto the usual Caravan Club standard.

We were not travelling with children, and, our childhood is a distant memory, but, there are children's play facilities in the Country Park and safe off road cycling, again in the Country Park, so, it appears to us to be suitable for children.

We would use this site again.

A lovely Surprise

Booked this without really checking anything as it was our first trip of the year to test everything out. Was originally only going for one night but called day before we were due to arrive to see if they had space for that night. Lovely wardens bless them checked and managed to find us a space. Only about an hour from home and was so surprised to find ourselves in a country setting 5 minutes from the M1. Will definitely go back as ideal site to explore north Derbyshire. Lake and park next to site was busy but enjoyed walking around. Would recommend

North East Derbyshire!!!!

Don't knock it - this is a very interesting (rarely visited by 'outsiders') part of the country. Bolsover Castle, Hardwick Hall, Chatsworth (all related thru' recent history), Chesterfield, Renishaw Hall, Rother Valley Country Park, Trans Pennine Way, cycling, fishing, walking, etc., etc., and all just off the M1 motorway! Clean site, level, quiet, excellent facilities. 'I'll be back'!

Great local site

We like this site as its close to home and well maintained. The wardens are very helpful and we have never had a bad experience here.Again like the previous members we have issue such as people not cleaning up after their dogs (we have a dog too but make sure we have a million bags with us at any one time).Im always astounded at the toilet behaviour of some guests who must do acrobatic stunts to leave the toilet in the state they do.Its disgusting but again its more the members then the site .The lake adjacent makes for a very pleasant trip around and you can make the walk as long or as short as you wish which was great for us as our dog is older and cant walk far. Will definitely be back!
