Fantastic views of the sea and st Mary's island.
Site on a slope so levelling blocks needed on some pitches.
Facilities block tired and cramped but very clean at all times.
Lovely walks into Whitley bay, cullercoates, tynemouth.
Wardens friendly.
Nice peaceful site
Great!
Where to start? A great warden team, cheerful, helpful and welcoming. A lovely site, great views and excellent walks from the site. We've been caravanning for 39 years and the holiday we've just had ranks as one of the best.
A welcome return to Old Hartley
This was only our second visit to Old Hartley but our first choice of site in the vicinity. You need to book early though as it's very popular. It's a lovely site, well maintained and friendly - both the staff and the other caravanners - great cliff top walks for the dog and a fabulous view. Walk over to St Mary's Lighthouse when the tide is out and you can cross the causeway and quite likely see seals if you walk round the back of the lighthouse. There was a wedding there the day I walked across - really funny watching the ladies pick their way across the causeway in stilettos!! The pub on the corner is very friendly and the beer is good. There's no doubt we'll be back.

Stunning views, lovely and quiet.
The relief wardens were brilliant, so kind and helpful. The views are stunning of St Mary's lighthouse and the cliff walks are a must. The shower block etc is small but lovely and clean. Easy access to bus route and metro line. The Wayfarer Pub along the road gave 10% discount on food orders if you showed your CAMC card, lovely pub food, all cooked fresh.
Views in abundance
Our stay at Old Hartley coincided with beautiful sunny and mild weather. We were able to park our caravan right at the front of the site with nothing to interrupt our view of the sea and St Mary's lighthouse, but be aware the path in front of the fence is a very well used trail for walkers. The site is well placed for visits to National Trust properties, Newcastle easy to get to by bus. It does indeed slope so large blocks are needed, at the weekends the number of visitors grew, could perhaps be a problem as only three showers in each block. Finding a pitch very easy and relaxed, should imagine that in wet weather getting up the hill might be a problem as gravelled paths didn't reach all pitches. Overall a great site to use.

Easter Break
Clean, sloping site with beautiful views of St Mary's Lighthouse a short walk away. We sat and watched the seals at play. Friendly Site Managers.
Close to the cycle path which runs down via Tynemouth to Newcastle. Whitley Bay itself is currently undergoing much improvement but Tynemouth is a delight.
They used to say "Miles and miles of golden sand: Whitley Bay Northumberland" and that is still true.
Old Hartley - April 2017
What a great sea view as you crest the hill and drop into this lovely site. The sloping grass field has stunning views across to St Mary's lighthouse, easily accessible across the causeway at most states of tide. Handy for traffic free bike rides along Sustrans coastal cycle path and a wide cycle path alongside golf course all the way into Whitley Bay.
Toilet block very clean, wardens couldn't be any more helpful and friendly.
Loved it here, so convenient for theatre at Sunderland too.
Perhaps my favourite site
We absolutely love this site. Its probably our favourite site in the clubs portfolio. A great location with easy links to Newcastle either by bus or after a brisk walk to Whitley Bay on the Metro. The wardens are very nice and provide a great welcome. Whilst the wardens do a great job in ensuring the toilet and shower block it is spotlessly clean. We noticed that a well needed upgrade of the facilities is becoming long overdue. Its a small but busy site and during our Easter stay were well used. With only three shower cubicles there was quite often a queue. The showers (lady & gents) themselves are small and in need of attention - Shower heads are broken and a number repairs to tiles can be seen. There is also a cracked washbasin in the gents. I would suggest converting the underused stand up washing cubicles to additional larger showers during a full refit.
Despite these issues we will continue to make our yearly visit. Improving the toilet block will Im sure add value to the site as well as rewarding the fantastic effort from the wardens in ensuring they remain clean. Hopefully you will take this feedback on board.
Easter Stay
Stayed here as a couple for Easter weekend absolutely loved it. Clean, peaceful, fantastic views had a walk to the lighthouse even went up to the top. The Wardens were very helpful we could not fault it, we will definitely be returning.
