We like this site very much, from the hard working Wardens to the good dog walk. The walk down to the beach
near Whitby golf club seems to be getting longer and steeper, but maybe that's just me.
Today I have seen everything!, A Caravan coming in behind two Motorhomes, and whilst waiting to go into the office
the driver pulls a folding chair off the back seat of his car and runs across the site to place it on a pitch.
Obviously done it before?
Peaceful site in away from it all location
Visited in June for second year running in our motorhome. We love the peaceful 'away from it all' feeling on this site and its a good base to visit Whitby, Robin Hoods Bay etc. Nice walks from site if you don't want to drive and great cafe at Falling Foss.
Not as advertised!
Firstly there is no toilet block. Although this is clear in the listing and we thought it would be ok, we did miss it and would avoid in future where possible. The club listing says wi-fi and good TV signal, this was not our experience. Absolutely no wi-fi or TV signal was found at our pitch. It's possible that there might have been wi-fi at reception, but we didn't test it. The wardons were lovely but are only available at limited times.

Nice Peaceful Site
We stayed here for 7 nights in May. Nice quiet site. We chose pitch number 44 which was nicely tucked away in the trees and backing onto the dog walk. This was great for walking the dog but we were unable to get any clear tv signal - with both aerial and satellite dish. Our own fault so if we returned we would pick a bit more wisely.
We took the train from Grosmont to Goathland which was a really good day out. We chose to walk back from Goathland on the rail trail which was a fairly easy 3.5 mile walk. The train allows dogs for a small fee.
If you have a dog we can also recommend the beach at Sandsend. Easy to walk down to and only 20 pence to park.
If we were going back to the area we would probably stay here again.

Lovely this site, so lovely and peaceful
This site is a little gem! A very peaceful and well kept, quiet and friendly site. There are walks into the woods, to the waterfall, onto the moors straight from the site. Perfect for dogs! We towed a car and took trips to the nearby seaside towns of Whitby, Scarborough and Filey. It was well worth it and wonderful to get back to site in the late afternoon and relax. I think this site is made quieter by not having a facilities block, so absolute peace and quiet in the evenings and the mornings. Lovely to sit and listen to the birds and watch the squirrels. We even saw deer in the woodland adjaceent to the site. We will definitely be back here.

Amazing peaceful stay
We have recently returned from a wonderful 3 night stay at this site. It was our first time staying here but won't be our last. The wardens were fantastic and couldn't have been more helpful. The pitches are spacious and allow you to enjoy the nature and wildlife on site. The site was very well kept. Kids are catered for with an onsite crazy golf pitch , Boules pitch and on our stay a treasure hunt. The entrance to the site also has a lovely picnic area. The wonderful town of Whitby is a short 5 miles drive away and Goathland (Heartbeat country) around the same distance. There is a lovely walk direct from the site to Fallingfoss waterfall and Robins Hood Ba, Runswick Bay and Scarborough are all a short drive from the site> Despite no toilet block the site has plenty of service points and the site shop is very well stocked. Well worth a visit !
Possibly become our favourite site
We have stayed on this site twice the most recent visit being may 22. We love the peace and quiet and the lovely walks. Various dog walk areas at each end of the well laid out pitches are excellent. The site itself is kept immaculate by the wardens who are all very friendly and helpful. There are lots to do and places to visit within a short distance of the site, we will be returning for another week's holiday in July 👍.
It has quite possibly become our favourite caravan site 🙄👍
Perfect experience
What a find. Karen and Kevin were the perfect hosts. Enthusiastic, knowledgeable and seem to work non stop at keeping the site clean and tidy. Fantastic local ice cream in the reception with other items well stocked. Views to die for from our pitch and a couple of fantastic dog runs, which are fenced in for free running if required and we used regularly.
Although there are no toilet or shower facilities, this is not a problem for us as we have our own. May put off families but again fine for us as we prefer quieter sites to be able to unwind and relax on. A few families were enjoying a game of boules and mini crazy golf. We had intended to visit Whitby and Robin Hoods Bay but once we got to site we just stayed local (Falling Foss and Maybeck trail walks are beautiful) and hardly actually moved from site save a trip to Sainsburys for some Saturday night nibbles.
100% worthy of its 5 paws rating. :-)
We will most definitely be booking again. Thankyou for a wonderful stay.
Peace and Quiet
Just spent 5 nights at this lovely site, a chance to meet up with some friends and have a wander round Whitby on Goth weekend.
Nice and easy to find with a long, quiet access road. A warm welcome at reception, info given and payment made.
Plenty of pitches to choose from, found a spot in one of the circular glades, fabulous big pitches, no weeds, well gravelled and level. Friends arrived and selected adjacent pitches.
It wasn't until I had pitched up, settled down when I realised I had chosen an area with no EE or TV reception, the site wifi didn't reach that area either. Not a huge problem but one to be mindful of. My friend had reception on her phone though on Vodaphone. There is no toilet or shower block, which could be a problem for those who don't use their on-board facilities.
It's about 5 miles to Whitby from the site, so having transport is a must if you want to do the sites. The park and ride is great value for money, runs every 15 minutes and well worth the hassle free parking.
I can recommend doing the Rail Trail walk starting at Goathland then about 3.5miles walk to Grosmont (do it that way otherwise there are more up hill parts if coming from Grosmont!) There is the added bonus of a pub right next to the train station at Grosmont to quench your thirst whilst waiting for the steam train to ride back to Goathland. We had a lovely day, and thoroughly enjoyed it.
Back to the site. It's in a very quiet area, no road noise. There is no playground and I wouldn't really recommend it for families. There is a small crazy golf pitch and a boules area, clubs, balls and boules can be hired from reception. We had a lovely afternoon playing boules...please note, drinking wine is compulsory whilst playing!
The site is beautifully maintained and a credit to the wardens. Booked again for the Whitby Regatta and looking forward to returning.
Lovely location and great base for coastal days out
