We arrived at the site early in the morning knowing that we would have to wait until 12pm before being allowed on our pitch, we were 'greeted' by 2 wardens getting ready for opening the shop and reception, I say greeted, the actual words were "We're not open yet, have you booked?" We said we had and were told in no uncertain terms that we were too early, which we knew, and to go on the late arrival area. They did let us on our pitch earlier than we should have been after a lengthy discussion about our awning and annex, the annex inner tent had to be lifted every other day to protect the grass, which we did. We didn't think this site was up to normal CMC standards, the toilet blocks were clean but 2 toilet blocks for the amount of caravans and motorhomes that are on the site isn't enough. There are non members and caravan and camping club on the site as well as CMC. The play area wasn't very good at all, it was very rundown and could do with renovating. The location is good as it was easy to get to many of the places we wanted to visit. During our stay at 1.30am a car drove onto the site revving the engine and blowing the horn, we mentioned it to one of the wardens the next day and was told that it happens sometimes and they have reported it to the police but they dont do much if anything about it. This happened a couple of times while we were there and I think that one way to stop it would be to have barriers on the entrance/exit as most sites we've used previously have, also this would make the site more secure. We were also told that they have trouble with motorbikes driving along the beach. No mention of that in the handbook! Definitely not one of the best sites we've been on and if we want to go up to that area of Scotland again we won't be staying there.
Scottish tour
We have just spent 3 nights at North Ledaig. The views from this site are amazing! Whilst the facilities are dated they are well maintained and very clean. This is a very big site but worth the visit given its location. The bus service is great, we used the service on 2 days and provides easy access to Oban for shopping or ferries. The bus drivers are very helpful. We will most certainly make a return visit to this site.
One of the best site views in the UK
After a bumpy journey via Loch Lomond, North Ledaig was the first stop on our first trip to Scotland. Its a huge affiliated site on the edge of a loch, overlooking the island of Mull, with a grassy section dedicted to CMC members. At first there seemed to be a lot of rules and we were surprised that our pitch had already been allocated when we booked and we were escorted to it by the warden in his car.
Unusually, the caravan and awning sit on a levelled-out hardstanding, while the car is parked next to it on gently sloping grass. We then understood the pre-allocation process, otherwise the grass would soon be churned up rigs driving around looking for a good pitch.
All the pitches had wonderful views over the Loch, as the EHU pitches were spaced around the edge of the grassy sloping section. There was no privacy or screening between pitches, but it was a positive for us as we got talking to our neighbours more than usual. In peak season, the central grassy, non-EHU area would also be used as pitches, so that might reduce the views and make it feel a bit crowded.
Its a great location for access to the Islands and you shouldn't be dissapointed by a stay here.

No Character
First off let me say we enjoyed our stay but I felt this site was not up to the normal Caravan and Motorhome standards. Pitches were 10 amp and there was a warning in the toilets to try to use less electricity as it was a bank holiday and a full park could cause the entire park to go dark. There were rows and rows of caravans and motorhomes thus the title no character. On a positive note there were an abundance of service points and a close cycle trail, restrooms were a long walk away but clean and upgraded.

Mixed review
This was our second visit four years after our last. We felt the site was run down in July, park had broken equipment, broken fences and was in need of a good power hose/paint.
The newer showers were great however the older ladies showers were awful, just a trickle and not hot (not usual clu standard).
Location is gorgeous and plenty to do.
My main irritations were the booking fee, the very stern lady who booked us in was not particularly friendly (other staff very friendly) and the constant cutting of grass even when everyone was sitting out in the sun (it doesn't happen too often so would be nice to enjoy without the constant drone of lawnmowers and being asked to move every second day to it under car).
We prefer Bunree.

Wonderful
We have not been here for a couple of years, but it was like coming home. As we had been before we asked for our favourite pitch near the loch and the airfield. Even the weather was kind to us with only one day of rain, and we were here in September!
Plenty to see and do in the area, and make sure you visit Poppies for afternoon tea.
We will not leave it so long until our next visit.

Booking Fee!!!!
Don't get me wrong, this is a beautiful site with fantastic views. BUT... It is Massive, and Busy. And what is with the £1 deductible from the Booking Fee? Why not just charge more! I suppose they need to pay for the guys that show you to the pitch, because we are not capable of finding a numbered pitch or pitching in accordance with every other Caravan Club Site in the country.
Lovely site but ?
Our first stay as we were dubious about the fact we couldn't choose our pitch but were happy with our pitch and the wardens the views super and big pitches with lots of space between rows but spoilt for us as both days we had gang mowers around us cutting and throwing grass around us awning and caravan the whole site smells of rotten grass a nightmare for allergy sufferers such a shame mowers that collected the grass would change the whole atmosphere

lovey views
Stayed one night on our way to another site. This was our first visit and we were very impressed. It was a lovely quiet site with the most beautiful views out to sea. We will definitely go back for a longer stay. The wardens were very friendly and helpful making sure we were happy with our pitch. The toilet block looked a little dated on approach but they were spotless and well equipped inside. Oban is definitely worth a visit and not too far away. We can recommend the sea trip to Staffa and Iona which we took last year. Our pitch was grassed but level with plenty of room.
We will definitely return for a longer stay.

Beautiful site
This was another site on our tour, every pitch has great views of the bay, we were 3 rows back from the shore line, you may need wood blocks as it's slightly sloping and it can be windy, we say two awnings blow over the caravan when they were setting up so beware. The site shop sells most things from newspapers to wine, all staff are friendly and helpful. It's a large site with two toilet/shower blocks maybe one more on the airport side would be helpful, the site is 5 miles from Oban, all said it's a great site
