Norfolk Broads Club Campsite

This was a pleasant enough campsite, picturesque and well maintained with good facilities kept spotlessly clean. Hard standing Pitches are wide and level.
Very basic small shop in the reception area, but a more general store and a cafe / bakery a short walk away. There is also a pub nearby that serves meals, although I did not visit so cannot give any opinion on this. A pizza van visited one evening, and also a van selling various coffees also visited the site on several mornings. Personally I could not see the point of the mobile coffee van, it did not appear to have much trade. I would have preferred to see a mobile fish & chip van visit in the evening. Alas, that didn’t happen.
An Ice Cream van arrived every tea time and did a circuit of the campsite.
There is a children’s play area, and a short dog walk on site, although most folks seem to take their dogs off site for longer walks.
Check-in was rather formal, no warm greeting or welcome, and although I had little contact with the staff during my stay, again any contact was business like.
But all staff were pleasant enough.
Due to a slight walking problem I did request a pitch near to the facilities and this was provided to which I was very grateful.
Would I stay at this site again ? Yes probably if I were to visit the area at some future time.
Excellent stay
We had a great stay here for 11 days from 6th May. Our pitch was good and well maintained but the grass behind remained soggy throughout our stay. The wardens were cheerful and friendly and had provided excellent instructions before our visit about road access avoiding difficult bridges. The facilities were always clean although the shower cubicles are in need of updating. Two nice public footpath walks from the site 1. from just outside the site to St. Benet's Abbey and the other from Ludham bridge along the River Ant. The narrow gauge steam railway from Wroxham to Aylsham and the Horsey wind pump are recommended visits as are the beaches at Cromer, Sea Palling and Mundesley. If the wardens read this review I'd just like them to know that the fluffy brown and white toy dog that I purchased for my wife from the shop has been named Norby. thank you for a lovely stay.

My husband and I had spent five lovely days staying at the Norfolk Broads Caravan site at Ludham, when on 12th April I had a fall and broke my hip.
We would both like to send a heartfelt thank you to two of the Wardens Andy and Jackie who came to our rescue, alerted the ambulance service and generally took over all our responsibilities. Together with Marilyn and Jan, fellow caravanners across the way, they made sure that I was comfortable while lying on shingle, bringing duvets, sleeping bags and hot water bottles, providing hot drinks, protecting me from the rain and wind with a ‘canopy’ of umbrellas until the ambulance came. Everyone stayed with me and refused to leave, despite the weather.
For this I am truly grateful and amazed at the kindness offered to us at a very stressful time.

Close to home
First trip of the season and only 40 mins from home. The site had only just opened for the year and there were only a few caravans / motorhomes on site. We had a service pitch so did not have the need to use the toilet / shower block but the wardens keep the site immaculate and we’re very friendly and welcoming. It is a very well laid out site with a playground if you have small children and the area is lovely with lots of walks from the site and visitor attractions for all ages. strumpshaw fen is a must for young or old. The Broads are beautiful and Norwich City a great place to visit.
Lovely stay!
We stayed here for 4 nights in October and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The site was welcoming and very clean. It’s facilities were also clean and warm.
I would recommend this site and we hope to be back next year.
An excellent site.
We loved staying on this site.
Great walks with the dogs from the site. deserted beaches nearby. Plenty to see and do in the area, the inner nerd in me loved the nearby Radar Museum!
The wardens were very friendly and were helpful when our car refused to start on departure day & were happy to let us stay on if needed.
We will definitely be returning.
Not for us
I guess people have different opinions on what makes a good site so I can only give an honest view on why this site wasn’t for us.
We had originally booked for Cromer but changed to this one after reading about the travelling fair right next to that site.
With regard to location it is right next to a very busy and fast road with narrow pavement which made our dog very nervous. And me! It’s also quite a way from Ludham village itself and in the heat this meant we couldn’t walk our dog up which was disappointing.
However, there is a very nice pub about 5 minute walk from the site and a small shop in the other direction near the river.
The site facilities were very clean and it was obviously well kept. Downside of this is the frequent grass cutting and emptying of bins at 7.30 on a bank holiday which didn’t make us best pleased. Not a tranquil break by any means which surprised us…
Very central to various locations....
Booked here for 11 nights as our 2 x 9 year old grandchildren were due to be with us for 7 & we were going to have the BH weekend to ourselves.....
However, plans changed & we were alone for the whole time but filled it with days out to various local attractions & locations which were all 30 - 45 mins away by car, which we had taken in addition to our motorhome.
Visited beach locations from Cromer to Gt Yarmouth, Bure Valley Railway - Wroxham to Aylsham + a river boat trip from Wroxham which we shared with friends who visited us for a couple of days....
However, after booking we came across the Mississipi River Boat Cruise based in Horning which is more local & £4.50 per person cheaper.... they even do an evening cruise, Tuesdays & Thursdays.
Also in Horning is the Bure River Restaurant (fish only), amazing food but in peak season requires booking well in advance as it only has 30 seats & is child friendly.
On the subject of food, the local butcher in Ludham is excellent, superb quality meat, burgers & sausages virtually 'fat free'.
We went back 3 times, once to bring some food home.
Plenty of walks to enjoy.
Pitch sizes are very generous, facilities kept spotless & staff always friendly.
You can hear the 'live band' from the site if you a pitched furthest away from reception + the cockerel from the farm next door but nothing the club can do about that one!
Very enjoyable stay.
Recommended & would return.
15 night stay from 21/8 to 5/9
We had a wonderful time during our stay on this site. We loved it so much we booked an extra night as we didn’t want to leave. The site is clean and well kept. Staff are very helpful and lovely. Would recommend this site to anyone. We will be booking again next year
Another great stay at this lovely site
This was our third visit to this site. Nothing has changed the team who look after it were once again brilliant. The site is immaculate as are the facilitie. The pitches are large and well spaced and all borders - grass and service areas are kept in pristine condition. Ludham is well placed in the Broads and offers so many interesting things to do. Will we back yes in four weeks time 😀.
