Our long 5th Wheel Holiday

The wardens had taken account of our concerns about parking up in our 5th wheel, for which we were grateful. We ended up on Mosquito - the very end of the drive through the site. Our stay was over a very busy bank holiday and there were many coming and going. After the busiest period we had a very quiet peaceful pitch. The wardens acted swiftly when alerted to a dog left alone and barking in a van near us. The shop fresh batons and croissant were really useful. We also used the fish and chip van. The shower block was adequate, but could have done with perhaps more attention to detail over the busy period. All the basics were done, the site was clean and tidy but not sparkling. We used the seasonal open air tour bus which stops right outside the site. A very good service, and it certainly makes you slow down when you take the timetable into account, but over 5 days we saw most of the important places to see, and returned wind blown but refreshed. We stay on mainly CLs and found the site a little cramped for space, but considering its size and number of occupants relatively peaceful and well managed. We would return for another visit.

Mini break

What a lovely spacious site, really good pitches and not on top of each other. Facilities all lovely and clean and a smashing little dog walk on site. Wardens were really friendly and helpful and recommended a great pitch for us with our 3 dogs! Chip van was a bonus and very good :) We would definitely visit again as a great location with lots to do in the area.

Holiday getaway

We were here for two weeks during August bank holiday.  Site was packed but did not feel claustrophobic.  Loved the 'pockets' of the site all named after  ww2 aircraft, we were on liberator.  Wardens helpful, hot croissants and pain au chocolate available from well stocked shop - yummy (like being in France). Fish n chip van called to site twice a week before bank holiday but only once a week after.  Site wonderfully situated to tour the area, particularly for me as disabled.  Only down side was poor wifi and no mobile signal - but I am on 3 - good to get out and down the road for normal signal again! Would return to this site again.

Good Site

Site is in a fantastic location with local amenities in easy reach. Arrived day before Bank Holiday and despite being a very busy day we received a warm welcome from the team. Being a BH, understandably the choice of pitch was limited and we mistakenly selected a pitch next to the water and waste service point and experienced what seemed like a constant flow of people taking a short cut across our pitch to get to the facilities. Moreover on some days the waste overflowed the bins provided so additional pick-ups would have been welcomed. That said we had a great week, the on-site facilities were perfectly up to CC standards and we have not been put off returning to the site, just onto a different pitch.

New Forest site

This site is a great location for walking and cycling. As a motorhome user who doesn't take the van off site, it is very convenient being only a short cycle into Brockenhurst where the New forest tour bus is available. We also cycled into Lyndhurst for the bus which was all off road and secure bike storage available at both towns. With the toilet block upgrade expected soon, all it needed was Wifi to be perfect for us.

Wonderful

This is a beautiful site! There are so many lovely pitches to choose from - the different areas are all named after old aircraft and all offer different characteristics. The site is on an old airfield and if you walk or cycle down Forest Road to the Holmsley Campsite, you can see the old runways - in between the New Forest ponies and cattle roaming around. The ground is very stony - even on the grass pitches, so you'll need suitable pegs! We had a lovely spacious pitch in Mosquito field, which was far enough away from the children's play area to afford us some much needed peace, although the children on site were all well behaved and all quiet after dark. The campsite's position is excellent for so many activities....a short distance to cycle to the many forest tracks, short drives to the Deer Sanctuary and Christchurch with it's lovely harbour & castle and excellent Sainsburys, and to Beaulieu - well worth a visit. Portsmouth Historic Dockyard is about an hour's drive. This was such a lovely site and there was so much to do in the area that we changed our plans and stayed here an extra week and the wardens were very helpful arranging that for us. We've decided to go back again next year to try and do it all again and more!

Location perfect!

3rd visit with our 2 grandchildren this time ,close to amazing beaches. Not joking the wind across "Typhoon field" could do with some more hefty trees to break the effect on the awning at the carpark end. But the level grass was a nice change being able to get the pegs in!! Will visit the site as a couple to sample the local foodie pubs next time.
