This site is a great location for walking and cycling. As a motorhome user who doesn't take the van off site, it is very convenient being only a short cycle into Brockenhurst where the New forest tour bus is available. We also cycled into Lyndhurst for the bus which was all off road and secure bike storage available at both towns. With the toilet block upgrade expected soon, all it needed was Wifi to be perfect for us.
This is a beautiful site! There are so many lovely pitches to choose from - the different areas are all named after old aircraft and all offer different characteristics. The site is on an old airfield and if you walk or cycle down Forest Road to the Holmsley Campsite, you can see the old runways - in between the New Forest ponies and cattle roaming around. The ground is very stony - even on the grass pitches, so you'll need suitable pegs! We had a lovely spacious pitch in Mosquito field, which was far enough away from the children's play area to afford us some much needed peace, although the children on site were all well behaved and all quiet after dark. The campsite's position is excellent for so many activities....a short distance to cycle to the many forest tracks, short drives to the Deer Sanctuary and Christchurch with it's lovely harbour & castle and excellent Sainsburys, and to Beaulieu - well worth a visit. Portsmouth Historic Dockyard is about an hour's drive. This was such a lovely site and there was so much to do in the area that we changed our plans and stayed here an extra week and the wardens were very helpful arranging that for us. We've decided to go back again next year to try and do it all again and more!
3rd visit with our 2 grandchildren this time ,close to amazing beaches. Not joking the wind across "Typhoon field" could do with some more hefty trees to break the effect on the awning at the carpark end. But the level grass was a nice change being able to get the pegs in!! Will visit the site as a couple to sample the local foodie pubs next time.
New Forest centenary site is in a beautiful location, so quiet and really well maintain. The site is one of the biggest we've stayed on, the wardens are always busy but very friendly and really helpful. Toilet blocks are always clean and the shop stock lots more than other CC sites we've stayed at. It's close enough to the hustle and bustle of Bournemouth and beaches but also in a lovely, quiet location. We stayed 11 nights and would have stayed longer if we could have done (had to go back to work!). The open top bus stops right out side the site and there are regular visits from a fish and chip van. Already planning to return next year.
This site was our last on a trip around Dorset and I think we saved the best till last!
The site is large but laid out sensibly. I wanted a grass pitch which we found and we had loads of space.
The wardens were the friendliest ever, and kept the site immaculately.
The toilet block closed at a sensible time in the afternoon (I hate it when they close in the mornings).
One of the dog walks is enclosed by high fencing with enough space for our dog to run free, the other was smaller but also enclosed and safe.
The shop was great, fresh fruit and veg available every day.
The site is in a great area for exploring the coast and the Forest, we saw cattle and ponies every day.
The villages in the area are beautiful, the little streams hidden away provided much needed shade on the hot days and the beaches were fantastic and dog friendly too - a bonus for us!
The only blip was the fish and chip van, a long wait and nothing to rave about, but we had a great time queuing with all our fellow caravanners.
I can't wait to go back - loved it.
We used this site for a weekend 3 years ago so this time we were there for 8 nights with grandchildren. It is always clean and tidy and you never see overflowing bins as the wardens keep on top of things. We were in Spitfire and found it very quiet and peaceful, not too far from the toilet block, far enough away from the play area.Would recommend this site for everyone

Should have used this one before, often stay in the New Forest. This was our first outing with the new Motorhome. We were too late for a Hard Standing but had an excellent grass pitch - just as well as we had a pipe blow off and dumped over 60litres of water through the van and onto the grass. Excellently maintained facilities. Good walking and Cycling here into local villages and across the historic airfield site.. Will definitely be back here again.
We stayed for 2 nights in August with friends. The site is large but it's broken up into a number of areas making it feel pleasantly sized. A very warm welcome, and a very clean and tidy site. Some nice walks in the area and the pubs in Bransgore are very good. The Three Tuns would highly recommend.
