Fab few days!

Had a splendid few days last weekend ..... the weather was dry, still and warm.....Just like the warm welcome received from the Wardens! The site was in superb condition and the showers and loos exceptionally clean! (Shame some members don’t leave them as they find them). The area is wonderful for walks, cycling or just relaxing. However, we were rudely awoken late one night which we later discovered were fireworks!!! Scary sound in a ‘tin can’ 🤣 at close range! Thank you for a great stay ....... Be back soon.

Great Location

It's only 45 minutes from home and we visit the Forest regularly, so know the area well. This is a huge site that was well maintained and spotlessly clean during our visit. We had a serviced pitch and pleased that everything worked as expected. It was interesting to see that the wardens were out preparing each pitch as fellow caravanners left to remove weeds and level the hardstanding. The toilet block was also spotlessly clean and warm with sufficient hot water and reasonable pressure (get spoilt with a power shower at home). Plenty to do in the local area for all ages with forest walks, towns large and small and the coast all easily reachable. One word of caution - nothing to do with the site, though. If you are approaching from the Lyndhurst direction, just before the right turn off the A35, there is a **MASSIVE** pot hole in the road of spring breaking proportions. Hampshire Highways know it is there as they have sprayed paint around the edge. Hopefully it will be fixed before the summer

Great base for walking

We stayed at this site over the half term week. The site was almost full but you wouldn't have known it. The facilities are ample and sited in great positions in the site. The play area and playing field and fenced in dog walk are some of the best I have come across. As it was Halloween the wardens made a massive effort to decorate the site shop and communial areas in Halloween theme brilliant. We also visited the three tun pub for Sunday roast and sat outside to eat it in October! Highly recommend. Also had lunch in the crown and an evening meal in the woolpack all in walking distance and lovely food and atmosphere. We will be back thank you for a great half term break.

Brilliant

First time to this site, sadly for only 3 nights, but loved it. Friendly and very helpful staff. Excellent dog exercise area for our heinz 57 to let off steam before and after exploring the forest (she never tires!). Love the electric Gators quietly going about their business. Very clean and well maintained shower block. Have absolutely no complaints and will most certainly be returning next year and marking this as on of our preferred sites.

Fantastic Site

We have just spent 6 Nights at this site and found it to be peaceful, clean, welcoming and excellent value. We walked or cycled each day from the site using a leaflet purchased from the office, using quite roads or cycle tracks. The café at the station in Homesley has excellent cream teas and is not to be missed, you can walk or cycle to this from the site, about 3 miles, using the forest tracks. Phone signal and 3G not fantastic, but you can use it sometimes and I think some pitches better than others as always! Not the sites fault just the lovely area you are in! Bransgore has a small co-op which again you can walk to but this takes about 1 hour each way, it is about 3 miles on a road with a footpath. The quicker route does not have a footpath and is not advisable (we did it on a Saturday afternoon and it was dangerous!). We will be back.

Excellent welcoming peaceful site

First visit to the kite for a long weekend... had one of the well maintained serviced pitches and can not fault it! Wardens are very friendly and welcoming and lovely centenary garden with benches to enjoy a cuppa in the late summer sun. Took our 3 x dogs who enjoyed both of the two excellent dog runs... all other caravan owners were friendly and welcoming whether they had dogs or not. Fully recommend this site- was sad to leave and will definitely be back again outside school hols as timing of visit meant it was lovely and peaceful! Well located for exploring new forest and local area

Disappointing in places

We've stayed at this site once before and were more impressed then. A particular issue this time was the very poor quality of wi-fi - almost absent at our end of the site. We would have expected better coverage as this is a facility we pay extra for. The Centenery Garden was sadly neglected and the site had a very much end-of-season feel. Information in the hut was dated and far from comprehensive - the tatty and out-of-date wall map set the tone. However, the toilet blocks were very clean as usual and there was good security on the site. We wouldn't fall over ourselves to stay at this site out in future but a bit of tlc and extra wi-fi booster stations would go a long way towards improving it fairly quickly.

Lovely site

This was our 2nd stay on this site. Positioned in a lovely part of the New Forest easy access to the forest, the coast and local villages. I must say I was a bit alarmed when reading another reviewer who had problems with travellers on this site. I was reminded of a general conversation I had with another camper who had experienced much the same on a site in Sussex earlier this year. I do hope these are isolated incidents and the club and wardens take a strong stance on this before it becomes a wider problem. Love the fish and chips, though have to say the second meal was better than the first when the batter was soft but fish was lovely and ample portions of chips. Didn’t partake of the pizza as had heard mixed reports. Facilities are kept lovely and clean, plenty of showers, toilets etc. The wardens were ok, did the job they are paid to do. However I have to mention dogs – or the owners! We use CMC sites a lot and this seemed to be a particular problem on this site. I don’t mean this review to be a doggy moan but feel I should mention it as there are members who are not dog owners. There were a number of people with ‘packs’ of dogs, a couple of vans that were nearby during our stay had 4 (they weren’t together). Why do the owners think that everyone loves their ‘little darlings’ as they do, some people are not dog lovers and as far as I am aware the CMC is not a doggy holiday organisation. When we arrived the campers on pitch next to us had 2 dogs neither were kept on a lead. We were unpacking one of the dogs came over to our pitch and promptly threw up, the owner came over and cleared it up - I did mention that I thought club rules were that dogs were kept on leads at all times. He obviously didn’t think they applied to him and a couple hours later one of the dogs came behind our van (imagine looking at the peg then to the right hand side) and squatted to do its business. I mentioned it to the owner who said it wasn’t a problem as he cleared it up. I politely advised him that if it happened again I would speak to the Wardens, I don’t like to cause an atmosphere after all we are all on holiday, but inconsiderate dog owners annoy me. In the end I didn’t have to speak with the wardens as the next day he took the awning down and left the following day. Then there are the extending leads that allow the dog to roam wherever it likes and owners who seem to have no control of the leads!! A couple of incidents during our stay where separate owners allowed the dogs to roam freely on the lead and then do its business on the grass on someone else’s pitch, granted they did remove it but surely they should have respect for other people and keep the dogs on a short lead until they get to the doggy areas when they can be let loose to enjoy the grass and open spaces. Then it can do its toilet on the grass there rather than someones pitch. All in all it’s a lovely site and well positioned to suit all types of holidays.

Booking in process

As first time caravanners this was our first ever site visit, baffled by the qeueing to book in , then told to go and find a pitch and come back with the number, only to find out we were looking for the wrong marker colour. Surely there is simpler way to direct people to a pitch. Easy to find from the road directions were fairly easy to understand

Disappointing stay

This was our fourth visit, and as a site and location it remains first class. However on this occasion our stay was spoilt by events on site. Firstly we were harassed by travellers who were staying on the site ( four families in total) who were persistent in wanting to buy our dog. We heard of children being bullied as well by them. Later in the stay, two other caravans arrived just behind us and they put on an all day BBQ for what seemed like at least 15 non-resident guests and played loud music, they used foul language and got more and more drunk as the day went on. The wardens did little to stop either situation. We are aware it is difficult to discriminate against travellers being given membership however as club members we believe they should be asked to leave if they infringe on other people or abuse/misused the facilities. we also think there should be limits as to how many non-resident guests should be allowed on site and their behavior better monitored.
