Fabulous peaceful site

What a gem this site is! Although there are quite a lot of pitches, the site is divided in to smaller areas by hedges. Access to the lovely beach is easy, just a short walk down one of the many paths through the dunes. 10 minutes to Logan Botanic Gardens, shortish trip to the Mull of Galloway (sadly the fog rolled in just after we got there), some decent pub grub within a 10-15 minute drive, Portpatrick not too far away, Stranraer for grocery shopping (Lidl car park great for motorhomes). The staff were absolutely brilliant especially Barbara who sorted out a vet for us - our dog was stung by a jellyfish we think, sorted out promptly by the lovely vet in Stranraer. Also we forgot our chairs (again!) and Barbara advised visiting Ardwell Marine, only a few miles up the road. They sorted us out with some great value chairs. Wildlife abounds, lots of birds and rabbits. A bit windy most of the time we were there but we didn't care, it was a much welcomed peaceful break less than 3 hours from home. It is now our new favourite site in the UK and we will definitely be back - hopefully this year!

Superb!

Visited in the first week of July. It was our first time to Dumfries and Galloway and this site. It won't be the last! Loved the area, and the approachability of all the wardens which do a great job on this extensive site. All pitches are grass but we were assured that we wouldn't get bogged down with our motorhome, as there is a stone base underneath. We had a pitch on the front looking across the bay, but there are pitches further back (and higher) that have sea views as well as sheltered more private areas. There are plenty of walks from the site both North and South. The circular walk to Port Logan is a must.

Cleanliness

As always, this site is superbly maintained by polite, caring and hard working wardens. Its a shame that on our recent visit, their hard work was spoilt by some grown ups (there were no children around as its still term time) who did not seem to know how to flush the toilet. Keep it up wardens, it must be hard dealing with what you have to deal with.

best spot

We returned to New England Bay for 2 nights had stayed last year - lots of space. Very nice helpful stay. A great stroll from site to sea. Weather was very wild but good to clear the head. Good to watch Rabbits and Swallows nesting in the toilet blocks.

Unsociable caravanner

Spent a few nights at our regular site and I don't understand why some caravaners don't even want to say good morning carvaning is a social pastime if you don't want to be sociable go do something else.

Peace and quiet

We visited the site over the easter weekend, our 3rd visit in the last 2 years. The weather was changeable as forecast but didn't stop us having a lovely, peaceful and quiet time. Our dog loves the beach and it was lovely to see her running about without having to keep her on a lead. The site was very busy as you would expect at a bank holiday but it is so well spread out that it doesn't feel crowded. The only issue that we came across was that 2 of the ladies showers were faulty. To get the water warm enough, they just trickled whereas to get a decent flow, the water was cold. I was warned about this by a fellow visitor who had just cone out of a cold shower (shudder!), so i used the general use disabled one which was fine. Other than that, the shower blocks were spotless and lovely and warm. This is one of the best sites we have visited and we will definitely be back.

Cant wait to go back

Stayed here through a windy week but it did not negatively impact my sheer enjoyment of this site. Such easy access to the beach is amazing. The site and pitches are spacious and the surroundings amazing. The cycle routes and walks from the site are fabulous. Wardens very friendly and helpful. Excellent site cant wait to go back.

Golden Visit

Although very windy for the week we were there it was a very quiet & restful week at New England Bay. We were even treated to a visit by a Golden Pheasant one evening. The views are stunning and lots to see & do in the area. The wardens were very friendly & helpful.
