Functional but unfriendly

Disappointed by fierce warden and spectacular lack of personal space in the upper field. Please don't lecture road weary motorhomers for 10 minutes on how to park their non-existent caravan in addition to bombarding with numerous other rules. A bit pricey for what is offered and very little space/ thought for kids. Facilities basic but nevertheless spotless and site well kept. Fantastic location just wish it had been friendlier and more relaxing. Seemed popular with 60+ dog owners.

Capital of England in the dark ages with a site to match

This could be a wonderful pair of sites, because that is what you have, two fields separated by a private roadway with no easy access from one to the other. The staff were great and made every effort to keep the site and the rather inadequate facilities immaculate. There is one toilet block per site in which for over fifty units you will find only TWO showers for male and female campers. In the upper field these showers are the absolute minimum in size measuring just 760mm square. It was obvious that quite a few campers would not be able to fit into the shower tray and close the curtains behind themthem, this combined with only three toilets and three wash basins meant that rising for a shower at anything less than the crack of dawn left you queuing up among campers trying to use the toilets and washrooms in a very cramped and embarrassing space. Women visitors were equally eft lacking in facilities provided with only four washbasins and five toilets per site. If your unit whether caravan, motorhome or tent does not have spacious toilet and shower facilities this site could leave you feeling short changed in comparison to other club sites.  The club really does have to put a revamp of Morn Hill at the front of the list.

Families

Stayed for 1 night with family as a stop off for ferry. Not a site I would go back to with children. Toilets far too small for the size of the site. Dissapointing. Caravan club seems to be for older campers and not very family friendly.

The site which the Club forgot

Have just returned from Morn Hill from an eight night stay.  The site is well spaced out (on the bottom level) and we had a lovely corner pitch with plenty of room.  It was quite peaceful apart from the manic motor cyclists speeding along the main road nearby.  The wardens were friendly and helpful and the site was kept nice.  As everyone else has commented the toilet block was far too small, only two showers in each block, four toilets and four basins which is not enough when the site was full.  I did not have to wait for a shower as I am an extremely early riser but my husband did have to wait on a couple of occasions.  It was quite dated and needs a refurbishment.  The wardens kept the facilities really clean.  We did have a blocked waste water drain and straight away the wardens rang up a company to unblock it and all was fine. Shame there was no wi fi too. It is in a great location for visiting lots of places and we found some great river side walks for the dogs and it is well worth going on the Watercress Steam Railway for a day trip. Overall a nice stay but I can only say it seems like it is a site that the Caravan Club has forgotten about.

Lovely site, shame about the toilet blocks

Recently spent a week at this site and thoroughly enjoyed the area. Very convenient for Winchester and many National trust gems and other gardens etc. The site is well managed and the wardens do their best to maintain standards. The only down side is the toilet blocks. These are very shabby with chipped tiles etc. and only 8 showers stalls (very small) in the two blocks for men and women (to serve 110 pitches). The comments book is full of negative comments about the facilities and from various discussions with other members it seems that CC management have been appraised of this fact many times and nothing has been done. This is a great shame as we use CC sites on a regular basis because we can rely on the high standard of facilities, but not in this case. We will not be using the site again despite its location.

Short stay

Very pleasant rural site with our pitch on the lower of two areas with nice views of the countryside.  Pitches seemed to be generous with a good range of sheltering trees and hedges. The toilet block is undoubtedly dated and in need of modernising but despite this the wardens still managed to keep the block clean and tidy. This slightly negative comment regarding the toilet facilities probably needs to be balanced against the very reasonable site charges. The site is well located not only for visiting Winchester but also as a useful stopover point for cross country journeys and for the Southampton and Portsmouth ferries.

Neglected Gem

We stayed here for eleven night in early May 2015.This is an excellent site, extremely well cared for by the obviously dedicated Wardens. It is a pity that the "Club" seem to ignore it. I know others have mentioned road noise aircraft noise, and the crows. Really!! I know of many sites far noisier than this. I would recommend this site to anyone, who likes the countryside, and all that that means. Winchester Cathedral is brilliant. The Watercress line railway is well worth a trip. Portsmouth Historic dockyard amazing! Plus a number of NT properties.

Excellent location

Morn Hill is a site that we had second thoughts about visiting having ready some of the reviews, e.g. the toilet blocks. I'm glad we ignored them ! Morn Hill is conveniently situated for Winchester, the South Downs Way and Isle of Wight/International ferries. There is 1/2 hourly bus service into Winchester (12mins) and supermarket with fuel within 2 miles. Well priced meals available at pubs (2 miles) in village of Easton. The site is split level (either is good but there is more road noise on some areas of the upper site. All pitches are grass but the chalk of the area ensures excellent drainage. The shower cubicles are a little cramped in comparison to other sites. BUT don't let the shower obsessives put you off this site. Its lovely and we shall return.

Satisfied if a little disappointed!

Having read previous reviews before booking we were not surprised with the overall facilities of the site, location, and upkeep.  We were aware there could be noise from the road, especially from the manic motorcyclists and there was, but we had a pleasant long weekend with no problems. However, there are things that could be done to ensure even better reviews.  A couple of examples - as commented on by many other people, the showers are too small and too few which left us wondering what it would be like when full up - also, although pleasant enough the wardens need to consider offering members far more information on arrival other than just a map of the site!  There is a comprehensive collection of pamphlets in the information shed but some basic details in hand would have been useful. Don't misunderstand - we had a good weekend and everything at Morn Hill was fine - however it has the potential to be better than just fine though!
