Great Site

Just had a lovely 8 nights at Morn Hill. We haven't been for a few years and this was our first time with a dog. Great friendly site and wardens were as you would expect at a CAMC site, excellent in every way. Very nice touch to add the "Pet Pit Stop" on the top field for those last in the day dog emptying before bed. Facilities although dated, (I know this is not the clubs fault, but Winchester Council !!!) were spotless and presented well. Enjoyed the 1914-1918 war memories of the site in the information room as well. Well done to the wardens.

Good site that with some improvemnets could be excellent

The location of this site being so close to Winchester is excellent. If you are in a reasonably big motorhome and it is not practical to use it to get about, the closeness of the bus stop is a real bonus. The buses run frequently and on time and only take a few minutes to get into the city. The site is nicely kept and looks welcoming when you arrive. The facilities on the site are what let it down. They are clean and functional but really could do with updating. The water pressure in the showers is very high and cannot be regulated and although the shower curtains have been lengthened it seems that a lot of people still manage to flood the floor out side the cubicle and cannot be bothered to clean it up. I also agree that the signage to the site is not very clear, as is the fact that the site is actually two completely separate areas only connected to each other by the entrance road. We will certainly return to this site but it could be so much better with a little bit of investment.

Great stay

A site we keep returning to, it is close to a bus route for easy access to other areas, this is handy as a motorhome is not always the easiest thing to park, restrictions are making this harder. The staff are very friendly and although they are kept busy always have time for the visitors. This last weekend being a royal occasion, we were treated to a cream tea, served by the staff, it was delicious and they worked very hard, Keep it up Morn Hill !!!! Thank you Sue and Steve Rush

A really nice site, no need to be negative.

Having read the reviews and like so many other reviews the negative comments made it a very interesting visit. My wife and I arrived last Friday in really good weather. Had a very pleasant reception from the staff. We were given a site map and told we were free to choose our own site from those which were available. So we chose the site in an area towards the back. It was very peaceful., yes you could hear traffic noise, but you are next to the A31, its on the map what do you expect. The staff cannot control the traffic noise. The shower block has only 2 units, but they were very clean and tidy. The site was very well maintained. Travelled into Winchester next day, the bus stop is just outside the Science Centre. It cost ÂŁ2.20 each to travel 8 minutes into the centre. The Broadway, next to King Alfred's Statue. There is quite a lot to see if you are that way inclined. We both left in hot sunshine on Sunday, wishing we could stay longer. We had a very nice and peaceful weekend, well worth a visit, we will return. Paul & Rosie

Ignore the negative reviews - this site is excellent

I've seen some negative comments about this site - principally about the wardens and the toilets - but I can only speak as I find and I think Morn Hill is absolutely excellent. Yes, it could do with a few more showers and toilets but there's nothing wrong with their condition, in my view. We went on a sunny Bank Holiday weekend and there was the occasional small queue for the showers, but the whole experience was no more unpleasant than at any other site. As for the wardens, we only encountered the younger pair and they were absolutely marvellous. The site is very nice. It's divided into two halves separated by a private road, so if, as I did, you park right down at the far corner of the bottom field, bear in mind you've got a bit of a trek uphill to report your pitch number at reception. I'd parked down there because it was as far from the A31 as possible but, in fact, I wish I'd picked a pitch on the upper half because we had the misfortune to overlook Chapel Lane where a party raged all weekend, leading to little sleep the second night. This is not Morn Hill's fault - but I will be avoiding pitch 99 in future. The main noise (aside from the occasional motorbiker revving it up on the A31) was the sounds of children laughing. An absolute treat.

Terrible Site

This site is unfortunately very near the dual carriageway of the A31 and you can hear every single car and noisy motorbike speeding along! Fortunately, it was chilly throughout our stay so our windows were closed. We were only booked in for four nights so we stayed for three. The worst thing about this site are the two showers. They are very small, the water is too powerful and you can’t adjust the heat properly so they are either scalding or freezing cold (when someone flushes or runs a tap)! The shower curtains are too short so everything gets wet. It also flaps about and you end up wearing it in the shower! The site is split in two and is ridiculous as you either stay in one side or the other. Apparently, the top bit is owned by the council and is leased to Caravan Club, therefore it is old fashioned and desperately needs modernising to bring it into the 21st century. As a member, I was very disappointed and will never go back to this site

Morne Hill CC site

A first rate site with very helpful staff. the ablutions are warm and adequate although a little dated. All pitches are grass and during very wet weather it suffers from bogy areas, it would benefit from some hard top pitches. Try to get away from the road side as it is noisy during early mornings. The site is excellent value for money with some amazing nearby attractions. I would recommend this site to any member.

Fantastic site.

First visit, definitely not the last. Thought we had made a mistake by choosing top pitch, next to noisy road, best nights sleep for a long time. Wardens very friendly and helpful, site very clean and tidy, showers very good with lots of hot water. The site is excellent for Winchester and not to far from south coast, followed directions and found site easily and no problems with access. Dog liked the dog walk. We will be back.

Our Opinion

Have to agree with most reviews that the toilet block badly needs upgrading and some hard standings should be installed. WiFi very poor, we didn't have any signal on our pitch.

Below standard

Confusing access to the site which is right on a roundabout. Signs for the site on the road approaching the site are wrong. Toilet block urgently needs updating small showers, cold and only 2 of them. Wi-fi only available around the reception office and very slow, only good for email. Road noise if you are near the reception area on the top site. Close to Winchester and science park next door which is good if you have children Pitches all grass, a poor site not up to usual caravan club standard.
