I've never been disappointed with any of the CC sites I've stayed on and to be honest was a little hesitant at booking this one because of some unfavourable reviews. I needn't of been, this site is lovely! Yes the toilet block is dated and only 2 showers so did have a small wait for my morning shower but the wardens were friendly and helpful and the location to Winchester was perfect. The site is clean with plenty of room between pitches. I will definitely be returning.
Great site and pitches, fantastic wardens, friendly and professional, toilet block slightly dated but amazingly clean and nice and warm, plenty of hot water
For a number of years it has been our custom to spend 10 nights or so at Morn Hill in early October to round off the season.
No more! The year before last we were annoyed by the ladybirds but last year there was an absolute infestation of them. We are still ‘dysoning’ them up five months later! Not the fault of the club but enough to make us vote with our feet, as the saying goes.
I haven’t mentioned the rats and the traps all round the edges of the site or, possibly, the upper site where we were pitched.
Use this site often, just wish they would put in some hard standing as the grass is a bit tricky when wet! The motorhome service point is a joke ! Don’t know who designed it but they have obviously never used a motorhome in ther life!!!! The site is well looked after and the toilet blocks are clean, do think it’s time to ditch the shower curtains though.
I arrived Friday night, November 2nd, at 17:30.The office was totally closed up and very badly lit, I looked around for how to enter the site but couldn't see anything as it was so dark. I had booked the site saying I would arrive between 16:00 and 18:00 hours. I went back to the car and rang the landline and was told I should have rung the bell on the door - this was not possible as it was so dark you couldn't see the bell / intercom. Not a very good welcome.
The site was so poorly lit that my wife had to hold the torch while I located the site marker. Other observations are that the water pressure was poor and the toilet facilities were run down and in need of total refurbishment. Like other reviews I agree that it is bleak and noisy.
I believe that this site is getting a big refurbishment in 2019 but I will not be staying here again.
I have just spent 7 nights here on the last week before closure for the winter. I agree with all the previous reviews both good and bad ( including my own little moan about the showers flooding and twice two of the gents toilets blocked. I understand that after a shortened 2019 season over a million pounds will be spent over 6/8 months completely rebuilding the two sections of the site and when reopened in 2020 it will be a super duper top notch site. Obviously the price will reflect the upgrade so I won't get any more nights at £15.40. Perhaps a bit of patience and understanding will reduce the "poor" reviews in the future.
Had a brilliant stay as usual stayed for 6 days the site was clean and tidy as always the wardens were very friendly and helpful. The toilets and showers were spotless very clean.i used both toilet blocks and they were spotless. They had a great Halloween decorations as well.i can't wait till the next visit wish it was open all year.Thankyou to the wardens for a lovely stay Cathleen medlock and Peaks .
This is the second time I have stayed on this site and I don’t think I would spend more than a weekend here. It may be handy for visiting places but the site itself is in great need of an upgrade and there is a lot of road noise. The traffic didn’t bother me as I went in to Winchester both days but if I wanted to spend a sunny day sitting outside it would. While as mentioned many times the loo block is small needs it’s coming redo desperately it is very clean as is the site overall. Maybe there is a way of walking from one part of the site to the other rather than having to walk all the way out of one site then down and in to the other when you wanted to find a warden but I couldn’t find it. Also I was told there are two Park and rides suitable for motor homes, there isn’t. I went to the St Cathrines Park and ride and unless you can fit in the lines you will get a ticket and I couldn’t find motor home parking. Luckily it was Sunday so it was empty so I parked and walked in to Winchester, not sure what the other one is like. It is annoying to be told you can park in there when you can’t. So yes I will go back but only for a weekend, also some hard standing pitches would be handy
