Another lovely stay.

Just had another lovely 7 night stay at Morn Hill. As it's fairly near to home we stay here quite regularly and for the money dont believe it can be beaten. Yes the facilities are small and dated but are kept very clean and tidy by the hard working warden team. We hope the planned upgrade can take place over the winter as this will make not only for more enjoyable stays, but make the wardens job a lot easier and less stressful when some uninformed members leave bad reviews !!!! The site was immaculate as always. Loved the ability to pre order daily papers which not all sites do, and the addition on storage areas for the chemical toilet caps at the emtying points to prevent them getting inadvertantly knocked down the hole is inspirational. Well done the wardens and hope to return next year. CAMC please dont hike the prices too much if the renovations take place !!

Yet another visit

We have stayed here quite a few times now, rain, thunder, wind and sun, but whatever the weather we always enjoy our stay. The staff are wonderful and the position of the site with adjacent bus stops to Winchester and Alresford make it perfect for us old uns with bus passes. We recommend the Globe and Horse and Groom at Alresford. The Fish and Chip shop at Alresford serves wonderful fish, only one portion of OAP chips between two is easily enough.I understand that there is to be an committee meeting about expenditure on rebuilding or refurbishing the facilities blocks, as well as provision of hardstandings on the very lower section.Lets hope the goahead is given as this site does need some investment in the blocks.

Convenient half way stop

Stopped at this site on route to visit family in Sussex. It is a lovely site. I like the different areas and the staff in the office were lovely. Very freindly and helpful. There is some road noise from the busy A31,which doesn’t really bother me but it does detract from peace and quiet. I was right next to the road but there are other pitches, especially those on the lower level, which would not get the road noise. I had read previous reviews so was prepared for the poor facilities. As I was only stopping one night, this didn’t deter me. However, I was pleasantly surprised. The only ‘poor’ thing about it was the state of the block outside. (And finding the door to the ladies, which just looked like a store room) Once inside, though, there is nothing wrong. It may be a bit dated compared to other club sites, but there are ample showers and toilets. Privacy cubicles and hair dryer and all were clean. The shower cubicles are very small but at the end of the day, when I am on a caravan site in my campervan, all I want is a quick freshen up. The shower itself was lovely and hot and had a big shower head on it. You could adjust the height of it and I really enjoyed my shower. As far as I’m concerned there is nothing wrong with the facilities. I would certainly come here again. I usually prefer CL’s for the peace and countryside locations and, as this one is right on a busy roundabout, it really would only be a convenient over-night stop for me. The pitches are spacious and there are lots of trees around which gives a pleasant feel. It is quite secluded and well hidden. I have been round that roundabout many times on the A272 and had no idea there was a caravan site there. Coming off the roundabout was a bit confusing as it actually feels like you are going off on an exit road, where there is a give way line as you cross the exit road to the roundabout. but the Club Site sign is visible from the roundabout and the site is right there! All in all it was a nice surprise.

Great Staff, good site, okay facilities

Outfit: Swift Sprite Freedom 6 caravan with Awning. 2 Adults (debatable), a precocious 4 year old boy and grumpy 12 year old Springer Spaniel. Our visit was a weekend run out to test everything and just get away locally. The site is a big open tree lined split site with controlled access and a Warden and Assistant Warden on both levels of the site. The reception and shop and the info hut are on the upper site and ablutions and waster on both levels. It is in a great location for access to Winchester with bus links and great roads. It’s set in a lovely area with great walks in trust and open land. Good access to lots of attractions and the science centre is just across the road. Which does have a fair amount of traffic and you will hear the road noise. Could be distracting for some. Side note: we booked unaware that ‘BoomTown’ Festival was on that weekend. There was some noise spill and a lot of extra traffic, visitors and police presence on the main road. It didn’t detract from our stay and didn’t impact hugely. The site is intimate on both levels and the pitches are spaced well mostly level and serviced with electric. The staff are exceptionally friendly, approachable and knowledgeable. The ablutions were clean although basic and dated in appearance. They were cleaned regularly but could do with modernisation as has been mentioned previously. We were expecting poor standards; They weren’t, they are just old block but perfectly functional. It might just depend on what you have experienced before and prepared for. There is a good dog walking area with bins to let dogs run off the lead. Other facilities are basic with some nice touches for free fruit, herbs and veg at the shop and there is no other children’s facilities, play are etc. Not a deal breaker and good not to concentrate the noise but maybe a little trim trail around the perimeter might be a nice touch. Overall. A lovely basic little site, lovely peaceful atmosphere with great friendly attentive staff.

The toilet block needs condemning!!

The site is big, open, with lots of space around each pitch. It's also ideally situated for Winchester. The pitches are level, and the staff pleasant. However, and if you don't have shower or toilet facilities in your van, you are in for a real treat when it comes to the shower/toilet block. It's awful. Actually, it's worse than awful. Honestly, they should state on the description of the site that the toilets are in need of demolishing and starting again. If you were at the site for one night and you had your own facilities, then it wouldn't be an issue, but we were here for nearly a week. The site is laid over two fields and we were pitched in the upper (main) field. There are only two showers in each block. They are very, very small - as one camper said: "you've no chance of falling over in these showers". They are also unhygienic with cracked tiles, dirty wastewater grates, and you get the glorious overspill of water from the shower next door splashing on your feet. The toilets (just three in the men's section) are so small that you have to step back onto the toilet to open the door to exit the loo. The staff keep them clean, but they are far worse than many public toilets in Winchester. Loos and showers aside, the only other thing to mention is that the site sits just off the A31 so traffic noise is high. On a weekend, that stretch of road attracts the (old) boy racers and the kids on motorbikes so the sound of middle-aged men ragging their midlife crisis sportscars does get a bit wearing. If you want to visit Winchester/Salisbury etc, and you have your own shower/toilet then it's a decent and reasonably priced site for a couple of days. If you don't have your own facilities then it's really quite unpleasant, which is a shame.

Lovely getaway site, fantastic wardens

This was our second time at Morn Hill and, as always, our stay was very enjoyable. This site will be amazing once the facilities (which are clean but dated) are upgraded over the winter. A special mention to one of the wardens: Paul Kenyon. Our 13 year old son brought his guitar u p to the shop and Paul was unbelievably encouraging to him (and very patient). It might seem like a small thing, but his enthusiasm meant the world to our son and also to us. The only downside of the site is the noise from the A31. This is fine during the day, but being woken up at 5am by people racing on thunderous motorbikes is no fun. Otherwise, an excellent site which is excellent value for money - I hope they don't hike the prices too much after the spruce up.

Excellent Stay

We stayed here for 4 nights at the beginning of July and thoroughly enjoyed it. The pitches are roomy and level so very little levelling was needed. The welcome was great and we were able to choose our own pitch. The only slight negative was the shower/toilet block which could do with updating but they were clean and tidy and perfectly serviceable. The little shop on site was adequate for anything you may run out of and I loved the little phone box which was a book exchange! There was also a cute little nature area. There was a small area specifically for dogs where they could be let off the lead to do their business, all fenced off and safe. The location is brilliant and we were just around the corner from Winchester. The wardens on the site were brilliant. I took a turn and needed to be rushed to hospital, but nothing was too much trouble for them. They even looked after our little Jack Russel for us in their own space so that my husband was able to come to the hospital with me. All in all, although our weekend was cut short due to health issues we think this site deserves 10/10!

Excellent site and a pleasant stay

We booked and stayed here for the weekend and because it's fairly local to us meaning we don't have to travel far for a break. The staff were fantastic and very friendly when we encountered them. We had pitch 78 and it was closely located near the toilet/shower block. The showers are clean but dated. The pitch itself was a good size and fairly flat. There was some road noise but not enough to bother us. We would come back here again.

very peacefull site

My only gripe with this site was the dated shower blocks and lack of showers per block. We used our own shower. But i think they are due a refurb. We stayed for 4 nights as it was a perfect location to get to the sites we wanted to see such as the Mary Rose at portsmouth, The victory at portsmouth and the National motor museun at Beaulieu which had an exibition of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, also visited Fort Nelson. We took the bus into Winchester to visit a few pubs in the evening, the bus stop is just up from the roundabout. The site didnt have any serviced pitches, which is not a deal breaker. Such a peaceful site with grass pitches which were very spacious. The site is split into 2 parts with a short uphill walk to the top part where the reception is, we stayed in the botton section. Very easy site to access.

Older style but clean a good stop off point on a long journey

Older style but clean grassy sites with good space. Good overnight stop off point with secure dog walk. Lacked a little ambience but we would stay again. Ambulance needed assistance from camper to get in to assist with a very ill person.
