We have been touring for a month and Morn Hill was a three night stop over on our way home.
What a delightful site to finish our June tour at - so peaceful, no barking dogs even though there were a few on site.
We had a lovely pitch well away from the sites roadway and behind us the hedge was full of birds and wild life.
Being an all grass site, we were lucky with the weather, hot and sunny.
The site was kept neat and tidy, the toilet block in the top part very clean considering its age.
The building has a very interesting history.
Road noise but did not disturb us, handy though being on the A31 for travelling to the Park and Ride into Winchester.
Great site, great wardens, hopefully we will be back sometime.
As we were leaving the site we had an accident with our caravan. The wardens were so kind and helpful. They recommended a very able repair man who got us up and running again. I would like to say a very big 'thank you' to them all. The facilities at Morn Hill are as usual kept in immaculate condition as is common on all the club sites we have visited. Morn Hill is not without traffic noise as it is close to the A31, however this does not detract at all from the peace of the site. I understand that the site is to be totally revamped later this year and I look forward to visiting again.
Excellent site for stopover close to major roads. Contemplating staying longer to visit Winchester next year. Very warm welcome on arrival and site was kept immaculate.
Refurbishment due back end of year which is perhaps overdue in respect of toilet block on top field.
Just wanted a few days away to try out our new tow car so chose Morn Hill as its only an hour away and via good road links. What a little gem of a site. Really enjoyed our stay and will definitely return. Asked if we could do a late departure and was told that was OK and if we departed by 4pm there was no extra charge. Thanks for a lovely few days away.
We have family in Winchester so very convenient. Site fees aren't the increasingly common ripoff. Easy access to M3 and nearby bus stop gets you into town in 6 minutes. Good for when you don't want to drive. Can't comment on family facilities as we are past that stage and travel as a couple. NIce quiet site. Noise from nearby road never a problem and we have stayed on both top and bottom sites. Friendly helpful staff. Easy to get in and out of site using contactless card. Site managers accept that faclities are in need of an upgrade but they are warm and clean.
Bit of an odd access road to the site but once you’ve negotiated the unusual roundabout exit it’s fine.
Such a well maintained site and great having the top and bottom fields as two areas for overnighters and longer staying visitors. We stayed on the lower one where all the pitches were of a really good size. We have a fifth wheel and access on to the pitches was brilliant for us.
Yes the shower and toilets blocks are dated but immaculate and checked frequently. There are wash up facilities if you want to use them and also a laundry room.
The small shop was well stocked and very reasonable prices if you do forget anything and the fresh herbs growing outside for anyone to help themselves to is such a great idea and we certainly made use of them.
There are bins and recycling which was emptied regularly and kept tidy.
Would be good if there was a compost bin - perhaps one for the future
Location for Winchester is perfect and definitely worth a trip to. Lots to see and do all round the site.
We will definitely be returning for a better look round and a trip on the watercress line!!
This is a really pleasant site. There is a spacious feel with good space between pitches. A friendly welcome from the staff. Everything is well maintained and the grass at just the right length. Really well placed for access from the A34/ M3 and a regular bus service into the beautiful city of Winchester. The only slight downside is a bit of traffic noise from the nearby A road but generally you feel as if you are out in the countryside. Thank you for a couple of lovely nights.
Perfect site for visiting winchester and what a super city it was a lovely market every weekend, we also love to visit national trust properties and plenty in the area, I didn't use the showers they looked clean but as mentioned dated..I am quite happy to use my facilities, the Internet didn't work from my pitch no 17 so was a bit disappointed and £23 a night is a little overpriced, but I would stay again due to being so close to Winchester and the M3, it will be great when the new shower block is built.
The pitch sizes vary but many are plenty large enough and easily accessible for a large rig (9m+) plus a car and trailer. We stored the trailer in the car park with no problems for (un)hitching and storage for the week.
If you can only take on water via a hose then you will have to park on the correct side of the facilities units with a small hose or take a 50m to 100m hose to park anywhere; my 25m hose would not make it from a number of the pitches. Pitches are allocated on a first come first served basis and we arrived at a relatively quiet time.
There is no park-over motorhome disposal point but the disposal points are easy to walk to, just park close to make it easy for you.
Despite the facilities being dated (we used our own shower), they are very clean and regularly checked and maintained by the friendly site staff. Maintenance activities are performed exactly as described at the site and very punctual.
Location is great if you have a car. There are plenty of shops and services near by, several are 24hr.
Highly recommended and we will use again. Very suitable for short or long stays.
Enjoy.
We enjoyed our stay at Morn Hill site. It is a couple of miles from Winchester and great for exploring the city. Great access to the road network is convenient but means there is always road noise anywhere on the site. The shower block is clean but ancient. As there are only 2 showers we decided to just use our own shower. It reminded me that alot of members may well appreciate the choice of booking without showers at a reduced price?
Winchester is a must for the Cathedral and the colleges, heritage etc. Morn Hill is well positioned for the city. Hope you enjoy your visit.
