September Stay be aware of traffic noise

We have stayed twice before and found the site to be in good location for exploring the Cotswolds, walking, cycling and easy 10 min walk into Moreton in Marsh. The pitches are small but we were fortunate enough to get a larger one. Toilet block is clean but is a bit dated and could do with modernizing. The site is right next to the A44, its not a big road and there is a 40 mph limit on the stretch that passes the site. Generally the traffic noise is not too bad with the odd lorry rumbling by. Unfortunately (as in many places these days) there are a number of cars and motorbikes with illegal loud exhausts using this and the surrounding roads as race tracks at all hours of the day and night(from 6am to as late as midnight) I swear you can hear some of them for miles!! It may not bother some people but its something to bear in mind.

Pitches small and untidy

I have stayed at this site several times it is located in a beautiful part of England with many attractions. The only fault I find with the site is that the pitches are small- the warden advised this when I checked in which I assume is Standard procedure - the site was extremely busy and the only awning pitch available was at the end of a cul de sac hard up against a hedge making it very difficult to erect and make proper use of the awning - I moved the following day to a better pitch. In general the pitches are small and often they merge with the surrounding grass It appears to me that that it is time the club embarked on renovations which will bring the pitches and layouts up to the usual club standard

Brilliant week

We spent a week at this site a warm greeting from wardens on arrival slight delay to check in very busy and long queue but eventually got there pitches seemed slightly smaller than other sites but not a problem to us not using the awning this trip. Road noise wasn't too much of a bother for us we were close by. We did get a bit concerned about the tree overhanging our pitch when it got a bit windy maybe should be trimmed back when site quieter. But all in all we really enjoyed our week and we are definitely going back next year.walk into town easy. Tuesday market was excellent great bargains from the plant man, and a few Christmas presents were purchased as well. Used local bus to visit the area.

A good base for the area

A good base for visiting the Cotswolds, with a bus stop just outside entrance, the reception stocks a few basics ,but a good range of supermarkets in the town ,which is an easy flat walk , a good fenced dog walk

In need of a facelift!

The site felt very crowded and under the current circumstances we had to be extra careful. We thought the site is starting to look tired and unkempt and in ned of a facelift. Our daughter's family were booked into a yurt but had to cancel due to Covid 19. We are glad they cancelled as the area around the yurts looked untidy and unkempt taking into consideration the price paid in excess of £150 for two nights. Where possible we will try and avoid using this site again.

Great Location

Really good site with some very differing pitch sizes and positions.....really can't understand though why the Club feels it's acceptable to ask people to rush off and find a pitch when you arrive....it really is the last thing we want after a drive. To get to the site (at 1pm) and want a hardstanding to be told you have a choice of 3 pitches but there are "people out looking".....! Showers are lovely though, nice and hot! Didn't find the traffic too noisy, the pubs and tea shops seemed to manage the virus well and the walk into Town and the Arboretum always good.

Untouched charm is blighted by constant traffic noise

Nice site but quite a few pitches constantly in the shade. Its untouched charm is definitely touched by the noise from the adjoining A44 main road running alongside and within but a few yards of some pitches. If you have friends around you will have to pause whilst traffic passes so as to be heard. Not a site if you are seeking tranquility and a wind down break.

Excellent Location for the Cotswolds

Great location with very friendly wardens, however when we arrived there was only 1 pitch left as site fully booked. We arrived at 2.30pm so not that late. We have a long twin axel with door on other side to UK caravans. All of our unit measurements are logged with the club. When we arrived we were told "due to the length of your unit we have reserved a pitch for you as its the only one you will fit on that is available". We were taken to probably the worst and narrowest pitch on the site which had been coned off. We paid for a standard pitch with awning. We could not use our awning and have the car parked on the pitch at the same time as too narrow. We could not park the car at the front of the pitch as our nose was practically on the road. We were told we were not allowed to use the door on a particular side due to fire regulations and were told to park nose first which would have meant putting the nose into the hedge. We declined to do this. We had 2 walkways either side of the pitch and our electric cable had to go across the walkway. I saw at least 2 people trip over the cable (this would have happened regardless of which way we pitched). We were told that we could move our unit the following day onto a bigger pitch opposite and were told which pitch to go on. We were only staying 4 nights - so the next morning we had to wait until almost noon in order to move pitches. this wasted half the day. The second pitch was excellent and plenty big enough for our unit once the tiny little motorhome had departed. We were told by the wardens "well if you want a good pitch then you need to arrive at noon" , even though they had "apparently reserved a pitch for us"............. It wont put us off going again as the location is fabulous but a lot of the pitches are very narrow. The showers are excellent and its a great site for dog owners with a good dog walking area. So moral of the story is - arrive at noon..........

1st visit - great stay

Our first visit to this site and stayed for seven nights. Coupled with the fantastic sunny weather we have had a great stay. Like many other reviews, first impressions aren’t great and the club has some work to do in getting it up to the normal standards. The majority of the hard standing pitches need reorganising and relaying. It’s a large site split into two sections with lots of individuals small areas, it has a very continental feeling. Booking in was seamless and very welcoming and all the wardens were very pleasant. If you encounter a problem or just wanted a chat they were very engaging and you’ll probably find that they are working very hard to keep on top of the grass, hedge and tree cutting especially when they are running one pair of wardens down. Courteously advised us when they were cutting the grass adjacent to our pitch and apologised for the noise. The system of bands in the Milton fluid is the best we’ve experienced during COVID-19 restrictionists and the cleaning of the toilet/shower blocks at 15:00hrs everyday is a no brainier that ALL sites should adopt without delay. In the evening during this late summer spell, the site atmosphere is excellent with most sitting outside to dine and enjoy nature, reminded us of many sites we have visited in France. Pizza and fish & chip vendors visited a number of times during our stay. Used the site to visit many beautiful towns and villages absolutely stunning locations, we cycled to quite a few but the roads can be very busy and the locals don’t hang about especially going past the site. A great stay and we will return and I’m sure the club are aware of the updates that need doing so hopefully our next visit will experience the improvements.

Very tired but has potential.

Due to the position of this site, being a short walk into Moreton in marsh and well places for other towns and attractions in the Cotswolds, it has the potential for being one of the best sites on the network. However, one has to agree with many comments in other reviews regarding pitches being very tired, cars parked across the front of the pitch, potholes in the roads, rotting wood around the water taps. The site needs a revamp to widen and improve the hardstandings, repair the roads etc and possibly create some serviced pitches. Pity about the road noise on some pitches but little the club could do about that. The club should do what it is able to do and make this a top site. Maybe as the site is full most nights anyway there would be no return on the investment?
