This site is perfectly located. A couple of minutes walk into beautiful Morton in Marsh. Will definitely return.
If I’m being honest depend on where you pitch the rod can be a tad noisy. Facilities were very clean. The only two slight downsides to us is the apart from one staff member being friendly the others didn’t seem very happy in their positions. We stayed ate Tewksbury two weeks previously and welcome could not have been more different. Also there seemed to be lots of weeds/grass coming through on some of the hard standing. Maybe I’m just being little critical and as I mentioned I would return.
First visit to this site. Managed to get three nights on a service pitch. The service pitches are excellent. It is a lovely site in a good location if you are visiting the 'Cotswolds' Fast food available on site virtually every night if you like that sort of thing. Staff are excellent, friendly and helpful. Didn't use the facilities, but they appear to be up to date and clean. BTW - Bourton on the water has a designated motorhome parking zone in its main car park.
This site may have it's faults, yes its on a busy road, but look at the map and you would know that. Yes it has a new glamping area, but that's great to enable your extended family to stay with you if they don't have a caravan. I would be really upset if the noise went on till 3am, and the wardens need to get a handle on this.
Having said all of this, the site is large and busy but has access to some fantastic experiences. We have a dog and are always looking for things to do where we can include him. Moreton is very dog friendly, with most venues allowing dogs to tag along. The path from the rear of the site takes you into Moreton avoiding the road and to Batsford Arboretum where dogs are very welcome in all areas of the gardens. A car journey away you have Hidcote National Trust gardens, unfortunately no dogs, but lots of parking for motorhomes and really worth a visit. Cafe is always busy so try one in Chipping Campden - lovely town and not too busy. Bourton-on-water is a real tourist attraction, so unless you like hundreds of people, expensive parking and expensive food, then I would avoid, although Greystones Farm Nature Reserve is off the beaten track and affords you a walk in the countryside and a way of getting away from the crowds. If you like walking, take a drive out to Ilmington where you can do a circular walk through the beautiful village and out to Ebrington Hill, where the views are fabulous and then have lunch at The Howard Arms - highly recommended
Great site, with lots to do and see
Stayed here last weekend, arrived on the 10/7/21, agree with other reviews. Site looks lovely in a beautiful area and with nice walks to the town of Moreton - in- Marsh and the arboretum. The down side is road noise as it very close to the A44, but the real concern was the amount of noise coming from what I assume was a large group of people staying in the glamping pods, also I was unable to use the bog walk are one evening because the afore mentioned group were playing football, this at a time 10.30 pm . Not sure if you have to be club members to use these pods, if you don’t have to perhaps these people using them should be made aware of the conduct expected when staying on a club site. This really is a beautiful area to visit and we are hoping to visit the area again but probably not stay at Moreton- in Marsh.
This site is a large site 184 pitches. I have visited this site for over 20 years and it now has glamping pods, cycle hire and safari huts. There is a playground and an enclosed dog exercise area. A new access gate allows you to take the footpath to the village or to the garden centre. Moreton is close by and it is undoubtedly why I and other people choose the site. But pitches desperately need upgrading. They now have fully serviced pitches and appear to be doing something following I’m sure negative feedback. The site isn’t cheap and you find people rush for the 1200 entry to try to get a reasonable pitch. Some pitches are near the road, some under pidgeon roosting trees and you would be pretty upset if you paid a premium rate to be here, and it is possible at peak times. The new glamping pods will add to noise levels located near to pitches at the right rear of the site. I listened to this until 0300 one Friday night. I had one day left to suffer the noise else I would have departed. It was horrendous.
In this day and age I cannot see why the site doesn’t allow you to book a certain numbered pitch. That would lessen the mad scramble at 1200 and may entice people to return. Some pitches are small and you are inevitably just about 3m between the next van. Some pitches are also really tired and tend to pool water during heavy rainfall.
Sadly this will be my last visit. I have cancelled next years bookings, I want reasonable peace, and I need to see radical improvements before I return.
Last weekend we visited the Moreton site which we have used many times for many years as our local site.
We pitched on the side next to the club's new glamping pods due to pitches being limited.
By mid afternoon the noise levels from a group using the glamping area was not conducive to relaxing. The wardens were already aware of noise issues and had spoken to them and could only say that the noise would end at 10pm.
Unfortunately the noise for us was at an uncomfortable level and the site was fully booked to be the point of every pitch taken, We left the site 5pm without being able to stay the night and paying full price, Whilst packing up those around us shared that they too were not happy.
Its a shame after all these years that long time members of the club are not its priority.
This site is attractive & very well situated within walking distance of Moreton & other attractions e.g. Batsford Arboretum. It also enables easy access to nearby Cotswold villages such as Broadway & Bourton-on-the-Water. The site staff were most welcoming & very helpful. The choice of pitches was very limited on the day we arrived& we had to choose a pitch near the VERY busy road that runs alongside the site. The road noise was so intrusive and loud that it really disturbed us during the day & into the night. Fortunately, we were able to move to a quieter pitch the following day which was a great relief. Had we needed to stay on a roadside pitch we would have chosen to leave. For this reason, we would not choose to return to this site, regrettably.
We have staying here many times, usual good standards, a short walk to the lovely market town, with lovely shops and pubs etc. But we had a bad experience this time, there have has been some glamping pods introduced which attract people who do not understand the etiquette of club sites, a group rented many of the pods, which resulted in load music, shouting screaming into the early hours, we had a chat with the wardens but obviously you cannot send them on their way if they are driving and drunk, also they explained there's not a lot you can do up until 10pm. My advice is to park away from the pods if you can, such a shame, I really hope other club sites don't follow suit with these pods.
Spent 2 nights at Moreton-In-Marsh and would have loved to stay longer. Lovely peaceful site but a 5 minute stroll to the beautiful town . If you want more that a 5 minute stroll then you can walk for miles through gorgeous countryside on easy footpaths. There are no negatives about this site. Good COVID regulations in place. Well done. We will be back
We have stayed at Moreton in Marsh many times over the years as its only 50 miles from where we live. Always enjoy walking into the town from the site (half a mile from site to High Street) It was only two years ago we were last here and it was interesting to see quite a few changes. Firstly there is the introduction of some serviced pitches which are long overdue. Secondly they have started to upgrade the ordinary hardstanding pitches although I imagine this is an ongoing process. We just happened to be pitched in the same cul de sac we were last time although on a different pitch. This area has been subject to pitch refurbishment and is much improved and more on a par with the best of Club sites. There are still a lot more to go but at least progress is being made. Good to see that both motorhome service points now have the open drain. There seem to be food vendors on site most days which is convenient if you want a change from cooking. We noticed four Safari Tents being erected which offers more choice to the site. As a result it does mean that the kick about area is no longer there but there is a nice looking adventure playground for the kids. There is a new path which has been opened up near to the static units which offers an away from the road walk into the town and in the other direction to Batsford Arboretum. Just arrived during our stay was the possibility of hiring a bike on site, either a push bike or an electric version. They are available via an App which has to be downloaded onto your Smart Phone. I think the only site staff involvement is charging the batteries! Would be great if this could be extended to more sites.
