Enjoyable Stay - Great location

We really enjoyed our 5 night stay on this site.  The wardens were lovely and kept the facilities very clean. The site is a good spot for walking into Minehead and enjoying the many lovely restaurants.  The only negative was that our neighbour left the site at 5.30am, waking us up as he packed up and towed his caravan off!!  This was a very inconsiderate neighbour and nothing to do with how the site is run.  We will return.  Winking

We'll be back

Lovely site in a very good location. Spotlessly clean facilities and friendly helpful staff as you would expect in a CC site. Only a 15 minute walk to all you could need. We had a 3 night stay as our daughter and family were in Butlins and didn't fancy paying the price to stay there. Would definitely return if in the area again. Thanks to all.

Good facilities and location make this a good site to use

Located on the outskirts of Minehead with lots of local shops this site is a good base to explore this area of North Somerset. As ever the wardens work hard to keep the site facilities up to scratch; it's a shame then, that some members appear to find it difficult to leave the facilities in a suitable condition for their fellow campers - obviously they've never been instructed in using a toilet brush ! Although having made our booking several months ahead (as per another reviewer) we too were offered a choice of just two pitches; thankfully (unlike the other reviewer) were chose a lower level pitch, but we would agree with the description of the top level as dark, dank and unwelcoming. However our pitch was on the junction of the various roadways and, so, could not be described as 'peaceful'. We too were irritated by the daily restriction of water supply; there didn't appear to be an 'emergency', so one wonders why work wasn't scheduled for a quieter period in the season. It would be useful to be able to prebook a pitch in advance to assist members. We'll probably be back though.

'Car Park'

We booked Minehead Caravan Club Site for a 5 night break but cut short the stay after 3 days. We booked 3 months in advance & very much looked forward to our visit. On arrival we were told we had an option of 2 pitches, (11-13) both of which were on the higher tier of the site. The higher tier is basically a gravel car park starved of sunlight, gloomy, miserable, cold & damp sums this part of the site up perfectly. With up to a dozen vans cramped together there's very little room left for privacy. A 100 metre walk to the washrooms & water supplies with a steep ascent to return to your caravan may well leave this part of the site out of bounds for some people. No locked security gate, poor levels of ambient light could leave you feeling vulnerable during the late hours.  There was also disruption to the water services due to pipe repairs, whilst we appreciate repairs are necessary this was just another factor that ruined our stay. If the site owners do insist on renting these gravelled areas out, they should consider a price reduction compared to pitches on the other levels. The Caravan Club should pay this site a visit or review what they define as a comfortable stay for their paying members. Very, very disappointed indeed.

Comment from The Caravan Club:

Many thanks for taking the time to leave a review. The Site Staff have been in touch as they wanted to address your concerns. With regards to the disruption to the water supply, the site had a major water leak which was losing 117 gallons of water per hour. The leak was not visible and The club was informed by Wessex water that due to the leak being on site we had a legal responsibility to find the leak. All normal maintenance is carried out whenever possible when the site is quieter, but in an emergency situation this is not possible. Signs were placed on all water points and in the toilet blocks informing members of the disruption to the water supply which lasted for approximately 90 minutes for the 10 days it took to find the leak. The wardens tried to time this to when the toilets were closed for cleaning to minimise any disruption to members.

With regards to the area where you were pitched we would like to advise, there are 9 pitches here, 6 with awning and 3 without awning, all with the regulation fire break between each pitch, so as such they are well spaced. We are really sorry to read you did not feel this was the case and that you did not enjoy your stay.

Nice little site.

Nice site, small and clean as one would expect, easy walk into minehead ,everything a bit tired looking here although plenty of food/coffee/pub eateries, a more beneficial walk to dunster and its castle is not to be missed ,about 1.5 miles ,really interesting .milk bread papers delivered to site AM .only gripe is pitch 32,bit small , tricky with a 7 metre motorhome ,but ok for 2 nights ,should have booked earlier.

Cracking little site

Spent a week here. The wardens are absolutely amazing. Do they ever stop? Cleaning. Mowing. Being pleasant? A credit to the caravan club. A couple of small niggles. No barrier anyone could drive on site. And no kids play area not even a swing. Admittedly a small site with only 50 pitches but a token swing and slide would be nice. Otherwise we had a pleasant stay. Thanks for looking after us.

ANOTHER GOOD SITE

We arrived last, had no choice of pitch but probably got the best as we had the sun later in the day than anyone else.  Dog walk is great! Easy to walk in to Minehead. Great waste darin easily accessible from both sides og motorhome. Hooray!

Cracking Site and lovely wardens

We stayed for 2 weeks this July. this is our 3rd visit and there will be many more. The site is immaculate and is a credit to the wardens to whom nothing is to much trouble whether you need help or advice. Great place to base yourself for this side of Exmoor. Thank you very much to the wardens!!!
