Another great CAMC site

We stopped here for a few nights on our tour of the South West. We have motorhome and plan not to move it from the site until we leave so we look for sites with walks and bus services - both of which this site has. We walked down to the nearby beaches for a swim and snacks. We took the bus to St Mawes and then the ferry to Falmouth for a pleasurable anger round. The site itself was fine, the usual high standard of CAMC sites. The facilities were excellent and the dog walk very good. Overall a great site.

AMAZING 🤩

Just back from this site WOW 🤩. From arriving the staff are so helpful, helping me on my pitch and sorting the best way to face and then even coming back a bit later and offering to help with the awning 😊 My 4 yr old son had the amazing play area to himself it was in term time so better for us, it’s huge the whole length of the field even the bigger kids had a go! The best one i have seen in a long time. The site is kept immaculate and really well looked after the views are beautiful and it’s very peaceful (until we turned up) stayed 18 nights and could of easily stayed longer, if it wasn’t so far away this would be my regular weekend site but it’s a bit far the 10hr journey. But I will definitely be back next year same spot please ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Nice site

Our first visit and I'm sure we will return. We had a pitch in the grass field which had great views and was nice to walk around on, unlike the horrible chippings used for hard standing at most Club sites. We were next to the dog walk field and at times felt like we were spectators at a second-rate Crufts, however I must commend the dog owners as we were rarely disturbed by noise from the dogs or owners. It was also nice to see the area around the fence had been left unmowed to allow wild flowers to grow and attract bees and other insects. There seemed to be other 'no mow' areas around the site and this was a nice touch. Portcurnick beach and the wonderful Hidden Hut cafe are an easy and pleasant 30 min walk away along the lane past the farm shop through Rosevine. The farm shop itself sells some nice fruit & veg as well as fresh fish but is hilariously expensive - I don't know how they keep a straight face when presenting you with your bill. Finally the strict 1pm arrival time is a bit frustrating but given the single track approach lane I can see the need to keep arrivals and departures well apart. The actual check in itself was very quick and efficient and staff friendly and welcoming.

We’re Not Going Back

Overall this is a decent site & well maintained. My problem with it is the over officious nature of those who run it. 1. Strictly no arrival before 1pm, no waiting on site, not on the slip road. Go find somewhere else after a 7 hour journey! Utter nonsense. Inflexible and to suit the staff not the customers. 2. We witnessed someone turn (after 1pm). Parked in waiting lane. Mr & Mrs get out to stretch legs and are told by one of the staff that one of them has to stay with the Vehicle? Why? What happens if you’re travelling alone? Are tha staff going to come to the vehicle to book them in, no I didn’t think so. More, utter nonsense. 3. Shop in the office. Roped off, no access, presumable to stop staff getting COVID, even though there are no measures in place, no restrictions, no isolation rules. Utter nonsense. A bit more flexibility needed, IMO for the benefit of the customers. Nevertheless, I won’t be going back.

Do not arrive before 1300hrs!

A great site that we have been coming to for the last six years. Access to the site is from the A3078 down a single lane controlled by traffic lights. It works great but this year there is a restriction that you cannot enter the site before 1300hrs. THIS IS IMPORTANT. Its not mentioned in the 'before you travel notes' and the sign at the entrance says you are not allowed to park on the slip road. REALLY! How on earth do you expect any sensible traveller to attempt to reverse back onto the A3078 which is a blind bend. New arrivals need to be aware of this new restriction. I wasn't and travelling 7 hours on the road to get to Merrose I was fortunate to arrive at 1250. I was not going to move! This needs to be better broadcast. I understand the reasoning of 1300 but it needs to be better advertised.

Excellent site

Merrose Farm is a wonderful site. Its quite large, but doesn't feel it as it is very well spread out, and you feel like you are on your own little site no matter where you pitch. It is also very professionally run. Rather than having a stream of caravans and motorhomes queueing upon arrival, a warden checks your details, gives you a map and then tells you to pitch up and return to pay when you have done so. There was also a warden cycling around with clipboard checking who had gone to what pitch number, and offering help if needed. Brilliant system! The dog walk is one of the best on the network, and there are a number of public footpaths from the site. The one that goes to the coastpath takes about 10 minutes and is a must, especially at low tide. Avoid the Farm Shop on the way though....very expensive! The toilet block is in two parts. The original larger one, that really needs updating, and a smaller extension thats via a separate entrance. These were cleaned in the afternoon around 3pm, which negated the usual morning scrum that you get on other sites. Our feedback is that this system works very well. Wardens were excellent. The area is just jaw dropping. Recommend visits to St Anthony Head and Nare Head. Both accessed via VERY narrow lanes (if you can find them) but worth the scratched paintwork! (T-Cut is wonderful stuff!)

Just Perect!

Our third stay at this cracking site and within walking distance of the beautiful Roseland Penisula. I can honestly say this site is managed to perfection, the green spaces, borders etc are immaculate. The shower and toilet facilities are spotless and the new cleaning times changed to mid afternoon are so much better. A perfect time to clean as most people are out and about enjoying their holiday. The information room is very comprehensive, with everything you need to know for visiting the area. Brilliant little shop too, where you can also order your daily newspaper. If you don't fancy cooking a fish and chip and pizza van visit the site 3 days during the week. All embraced by really friendly hard working team of wardens, who always have time to stop and chat to you. What more could you ask for, looking forward to going back.

Excellent site for dog owners

Lovely choice of pitches, some shaded by trees, others out in the open. There is a good sized free-to-roam dog walking field and excellent walks direct from the site. The local stretch of coast path, which easily accessible from the site, is lovely and The Hidden Hut cafe along its way is well worth a visit. A particular mention for the wardens who came to my rescue when the lever for the grey waste valve 'disappeared' through a hole in the floor of my van. It was recovered using a long tent peg which they provided and which they insisted I kept in case the same thing should happen again. Very helpful and much appreciated.

Fabulous

A return visit to this lovely campsite. Some changes have been made the cleaning of shower blocks has been moved to the afternoon, what a great idea it gets rid of the scramble to shower in the morning before cleaning. Love the bug hotel and there seems to be a camp cat which we christened Mr Twinkletoes he enjoys sleeping in peoples awnings and if you are not alert will find him on the bed. So pleased to see the toiler/shower blocks have been repainted, they did need a refresh. It was difficult to erect our awning as parking up to the peg left little room for it, some people had cockeyed awnings because of this rule. A peaceful quiet site though some dogs were not using their 'indoor voice' in fact were quite loud, although the majority are so beautifully behaved. Childrens play area is great fun. Wardens are friendly and welcoming

Great Site

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here at Merrose Farm. Lovely clean, spacious and level hard standing pitch. Wardens were very welcoming and friendly. Booking in was easy and moving around the site was easy. The traffic light system down the narrow approach lane took the worry out of meeting any oncoming traffic. The site is very well maintained with all facilities being spotless, with hand sanitisers at strategic locations. The site is well placed for local attractions and access to coastal path which is about 15 minutes walk from site. We particularly liked the afternoon cleaning of the shower block which meant no rushing in the mornings. We definitely recommend staying here and will return in the future.
