We love this site

We travel to Cornwall each year to join up with motorhoming friends. This year we tried Merrose Farm. We really liked the traffic light system which means no scary encounters. Brilliant warm welcome from first class wardens. We did hear some grumbles, but everytime we spoke to the warden team, they were lovely. Pitched on the bottom site facing the dog field. Such a lovely place to walk dogs and very social too during first and last walkies particularly. Met some super people and lovely dogs too! The weather was very hot - which was great. Only downside being we were parked next to one of a series on manholes going down the field. Clearly the septic tank in action. Bit whiffy at times - but it was very hot! We loved the area and spent many happy hours on the local beach. Many happy hours with our friends outside the van too. And we particularly appreciated the dog shower - after sea swimming our dog needs her coat rinsing so this was brilliant for us. We left sadly and have all decided that it's Merrose Farm again for us next June. All we need now is the fantastic weather. Really recommend this site and the wardens go the extra mile too.

Perfect!

We stayed here the first week of September 2018. We were fortunate enough to have very good weather. We did plenty of walking to many beaches including Poldark's Holywell bay. We also visited St Mawes Castle and Pendennis Castle both excellent. The site itself was very clean and tidy with excellent toilet facilities. the team are friendly with a well stocked shop. This site is definitely worth a visit. We had a wonderful holiday, Thank you! :)

Merrose Farm 2018

In our honest opinion, this is the best site in Cornwall. The site is at the bottom of a traffic light controlled narrow lane. What a relief when you get there after a long journey. The site is very well maintained with very friendly and helpful staff. We have stayed at this site every year for the last 12 years with no complaints at all. Sometimes you may want to move pitch for a different location on the site but that's life. It is a very quiet site but as to be expected the children play area can become very active. The old shower block would benefit from an overhaul. When it rains, some of the hard standings can get very wet. TV reception is good . We found that our portable satellite system reception was non existent in some locations. Wireless internet is good but slows down in the evenings and on rainy days when everybody logs on. This site is well located for use as a touring base. If you take your dogs on holiday then we recommend the "park and float" or "park and ride" service in Falmouth. The Truro park and ride service does not allow dogs to travel. A nice walk from the site is to Carne Beach but its like walking up mount Everest on the way back from the beach. Great site, five stars as always, keep it up Caravan Club.

Lovely site

I have just stayed for three nights at this lovely site which is very conveniently situated for touring the area. I used the King Harry ferry nearby which saved around a 20 mile journey to Falmouth which was great. The site is clean and tidy and nicely laid out. Although the approach is a little narrow, having been to Cornwall the week before, this road was fine! A lovely, quiet site in a good location - I will visit again.

Perfection

We spent 8 glorious nights at Merrose Farm at the beginning of September. Marianne gave us a very warm and informative welcome. We chose a wonderful large grass pitch overlooking the dog walk which gave us a very nice view and privacy. The lovely wardens keep the site in immaculate order. They are often busy mowing and gardening but are never intrusive. The nearby area is stunning with beautifully scenic coastal walks into Portscatho. The bus service is every 2 hours and it will take you to St Mawes or Truro. Get the bus to St Just in Roseland, walk down the hill to visit the lovely church and cemetry before walking 2 miles along the coast path to St Mawes. Have a drink sitting outside the St Mawes Hotel (a bit pricey but worth it) and then catch the bus back to the site. Portscatho is a delightful seaside village where there are 2 good pubs The Royal Standard and the Plume of Feathers (both are dog friendly) a few cafes and a great shop which does not rip you off. The dog walk at this site is the best we have ever seen - a large well mown field. The children’s play areas are fabulous and it is for this reason we would not visit in school holidays as it is a child’s paradise. We visited in term time and there was not a single child on the site which suited us well. The site would suit families, couples or singles - there is something for everyone and we will return soon as we can - LOVED everything about it.

Lovely Site a credit to the Club

Enjoyed 2 weeks at Merrose Farm from 20th August until 1st September. The site is exceptionally well maintained and the facilities are spotless. There is plenty to do in Cornwall however from this site you do need to travel. St Austell is near as is Truro (if you go via King Harry Ferry). Eden Project is about 40 minutes away. We visited Jamaica Inn, Bodmin Jail, Padstow, Trelissick, Lanhydrock, Portscatho and St Mawes. As others have mentioned, Fish and Chip and Pizza outlets visit the site and these are a nice treat. The nearest fuel is about 4 miles from site and there is a small supermarket here as well. We visited Carne Beach (National Trust) a few times and this is lovely. It wasn't busy when we were there despite it being school holidays. I will leave my final comments to the Wardens who I must say were outstanding and some of the nicest wardens we have ever come across in 10 years of caravanning. Really friendly, hardworking and whilst emphasizing the site rules, were not officious or draconian in approach. We loved it here and will be back.

Our favourite site!

We have been twice this year. Our last visit August Bank Holiday. We go to Merrose every year. The wardens are always friendly & the site is always clean & well maintained throughout. The pitch sizes are good & the grassed area pitches are spacious. The visiting fish & chip & pizza vans offer a lovely treat for tea! The site shop is well stocked & sells local produce. There are some lovely local places to visit Porthcurnick beach with the Hidden Hut, St Mawes & Portscatho. The coastal walks are stunning. There is a lovely coffee shop close by called Penperth Farm which has lovely savoury food & cakes etc. On the Saturday we went to the Portscatho Regatta which was fantastic all the streets were closed off from traffic so with the band playing & the streets packed the village atmosphere was vibrant & great fun for all ages. This site is suitable for all ages & there is some lovely things to do & see close by with amazing places to eat & drink.

BEWARE OF THE CURSE OF SATNAV!!!

Great site tucked away down a lane with traffic light control. There was no road noise from off site and was a joy to stay there. Rather than read the site directory or look on line I foolishly used google maps on my phone to come off the A30. In my defence it was 11:15am and it was throwing it down with rain and we had left home at 2:00am.........We amazingly negotiated our way onto the proper road after about 6/7 miles of claustrophobic hedges, close encounters of the Range Rover kind, hills that seemed to defy nature and a chap coming the other way in a Fiat 500 that we met a a junction who yelled " You're having a laugh aren't you?" - I can assure you that laughter was not on the agenda at that point... However, we got there and it was well worth it. Had a fantastic 12 nights. Do go to Lost Gardens of Heligan and the Eden Project. Make sure you find the Hidden Hut and have an ice cream with a dollop of clotted cream on top at St Mawes. Just for reference we will return in the future but will take the A39 to Truro from A30, then A390 heading to St Austell turning off onto A3078 heading to St Mawes.

Lovely Location

We have just come back from this site after a 10-night stay. This is a lovely site and well maintained by the warden staff and was very helpful with our inquiries. Their local knowledge was excellent helping me to get new tyres for my 4x4. This was the first time in Cornwell and was impressed with the county and the views. DO NOT USE THE ONLINE INSTRUCTIONS HAS THEY ARE WRONG PLEASE USE THE ONE IN THE BOOK. This is the first time( they have) let us down sending us down very tight roads. We have used the service before and the instructions have been ok but this time they were way out with the directions !!!!!!!!! Sent a car and Caravan down very tight roads only the week before one of the roads was closed due to a blockage between farm vehicle and a horsebox! Take note

A beautiful site.

First stay at Merrose Farm and we loved it. Beautiful site with larger than usual pitches, great play area and playing field. Very tidy facilities, helpful and cheerful staff. Although you can walk to Porthcurnic beach, you have to cross a very busy road which is not ideal with children. The coastal path is stunning. The farm shop over the road was full of delicious food but the prices were extortionate! We loved the site and will visit again.
