Well kept site, but facilities looking very tired now.

We Have been coming to this site since 2008, Easter,Summer and Autumn, and the site has always been immaculately kept by the many wardens over the years to present. The sound of the mowers can be a bit annoying every day as a result, but it’s a large site to maintain. The wardens are friendly and helpful, although Saturday some were flapping a bit as a lot of new arrivals were queuing, and we felt slightly annoyed when were confronted by two ladies telling us to move our m/h, because we were holding up proceedings. It felt a little bit like “ you’ve had your holiday, now go! No thanks for coming, hope to see you soon. I had only gone to hand the pitch number back to the office, and no caravans were parks up then. The site was busy during our stay, which I expect this time of year, so the wardens work is cut out. What I have noticed is that members attitudes have changed a lot over the years, with respect to others staying on site. Parents are responsible for their children and dogs, not the wardens. Why do parents allow their children to kick footballs around the pitches, when their is a dedicated ball field? I remember when the dog field was bigger until the ball games field was carved out of it. Just a shame no one clearly uses it. We saw cars and caravans hit, without any parent guidance, so it’s easy to see why tempers would fray, after all I’m sure the parents wouldn’t like their pride and joy being walloped. Kids on bikes cutting across pitches is a real pain too, as well as other members walking across or through your pitch. Where is the respect for others and their privacy? Some dog owners seem to think the fairies pick up their pets poo at night. It’s a great area for the dogs to run around in, but spoilt because of dog mess that could be put in the bin provided. None of this is the warden fault, but I’m sure they take the rap for it in other reviews, which isn’t fair. On the whole, we enjoyed our stay, but feel that given gradual increases in pitch fees and membership over the years, it really is about time the shower blocks had a major refit. They are clean, but looking worse each time we have stayed. Come on club, you can’t say that this site is under performing, especially with the clubs usual hike in school holiday tariff and the extra cramming of pegs for the season. It doesn’t quite feel like value for money any more, but we do like it all the same. Will we be back? I’m not so sure this time tbh, which is a shame. Our daughter has grown up, our dogs our older, so the field is not such an important factor for running around off lead letting off steam. And I guess we are starting to prefer smaller tranquil sites, where their is some mutual respect from fellow members on what is acceptable and what is clearly not. It really is amazing how aggressive some members can get should you dare politely point many of the problems we encountered during our stay. Maybe the club could offer anger management courses, as well towing courses!

Superb unless the site is full.

Arrived approx 1230 on Saturday 29/06-after 355 mile journey for two week stay to be told fully booked only 3 pitches available-how can that be at that time of day or were we just unlucky? Chose the pitch and set up-pitch may have been within CMC safety guidelines but was extremely cramped for a twin axle with awning and no where near as generous as nearly all other clearly defined pitches. We soon realised that we were also on a short cut too the toilet block /offices with very little respect for our privacy or boundaries with people just walking through our space(where has the respect gone from previous years).Don't blame wardens clearly the club wants to maximise it's space and wants to cram as many outfits as possible in but surely everyone pays the same and therefore should receive the same even if it does mean reducing capacity by a few pitches. The site is very well maintained by the wardens who are friendly enough and even remembered us from previous visits as did we them. The shower block is in desperate need of some TLC albeit very clean etc it's so dated with plumbing and low water pressure it's difficult to get a proper shower in some cubicles. The dog walk on site is superb for last minute exercise or activity to keep your animals happy but again different from previous years more people now seem to think cleaning up after their dog is no longer important. A lovely site very quiet even when full but taking all things into account I don't think we can justify the travel/cost anymore to get what in some ways was a below par holiday and after 6/7 years of visiting Merrose farm I think this will be the last time.Instead of spending all that money on rebranding the club with all new logos etc the CMC should start refurbishing some of its facilities and providing value for money again.

Quiet but busy

Great site and very quiet, considering the site was full and we were a little bit like sardines on some days. Second visit to the site and will come again but when less busy. Staff great and pitches clean and tidy with nice short grass and cut back hedges. Service points cleared and cleaned regularly and so there was no smell, even though pitch was right next to them. More dog poo bins are needed though.

Site ruined by overcrowding pitches

Just back from a week at this site. It appears that greed has taken over at the Club now. Many pitches have been added and in some places everyone is really on top of each other. We measured distances between caravans and found 4 pairs of vans that were pitched less than 6 metres from each other. The site is very well looked after, if a little tired looking in the shower block, but wardens do a really good job. Problem with hot water in the mornings but this was explained as being due to a faulty thermostat which was on order. cant say it was quiet due to the overcrowding. The site was nearly full.

Awful Site

Only joking.....this site is far from awful it’s just that this is our quiet little getaway close to home from us and we don’t want too many people to know about it. Seriously, this site is fantastic. It has become really popular of late but even when fully booked up it is a very peaceful site. The place is immaculate, the facilities are great and you can walk the dog from the site to Portscatho which is a 30-40 minute walk. There is a dog friendly beach and the Hidden Hut cafe on the beach, but if you walk into the village we also love the Beachcomber cafe which is also very dog friendly. Not sure if I would go there if I had kids as it is a bit out of the way unless you are willing to drive each day but for dog walkers and those that love peace and quiet it is lovely...... Just don’t all rush out there please!

Lovely Site

This was our second visit to this lovely site, the wardens work very hard to keep everything looking nice. We enjoy being on a grass pitch this time of year and I have to say the grass was cut very much to our liking, quite short. The only thing that gave us a negative feeling on this visit was an altercation with the warden in charge. My partner had asked one of the assistant wardens if we could park the car alongside our awning, she said it would be fine. The following day the warden in charge asked us to move it closer to our awning, we said we’d been given permission to park it there. Anyway I moved it closer to our awning. The next day she came to us again and told us we’d have to move it to the other side of our van, I queried this and she said, we’d only been allowed to park it there on condition that no one was using the pitch nearby, which was certainly not what we were told. When I told her this, she shouted at us both and said “ Are you going to move your car or what” certainly not the way we expect to be spoken to by any warden, especially the one in charge. I moved our car, but I have to say this did put a real dampener on the rest of our stay.

Excellent site - handy for the Lost Gardens of Heligan, Eden Project, Mevagissey . . .

We stayed here for two nights during our tour of Cornwall. Plenty of empty pitches even though it was half term week. The field with the play park is quite hard for a motorhome, as most of the pitches are not flat there, and we had forgotten to take our big ramps, so getting onto our small ones was quite hard on the grass. There is a huge fully fenced dog walk which is superb. The wardens were great and very helpful. There was a Pizza van there one evening, offering delicious and reasonably priced pizzas - including gluten free, which was a boon for my husband. We would definitely come here again. Because we were only there for two nights, with one whole day spent at the Lost Gardens (excellent place to visit, and you can take your dog there - win, win!) we didn't manage to walk to the cliffs - and our puppy chewed the instructions anyway, but we were told there was a beautiful walk along the coast including a nice cafe for breakfast.

Our annual May trip to Merrose Farm!

We go to Merrose Farm every year, sometimes twice a year. The wardens are always friendly & the site is always clean & well maintained throughout. The pitch sizes are good & the grassed area pitches are spacious. The standard is very high. There are visiting food vans throughout the week which offers a nice treat & the site shop is well stocked & sells local produce. There are some stunning local places to visit & eat at Porthcurnick beach with the Hidden Hut, St Mawes, Portscatho & Portloe. The coastal walks are amazing. There is a lovely coffee shop close by called Da Bara Bakery Cafe which serves fantastic coffee, food, breads & cakes. This site is suitable for all ages & there is some lovely things to do & see close by. It’s a site you can truly “switch-off” at, unwind & enjoy the countryside surroundings.

NIce site, quiet and perfect for relaxing

Really helpful wardens, immaculate tidy site. Remote and peaceful and. Use the directions on the site page as if you don't you end up on narrow, windy roads. Nice large pitches Will go there again if in Cornwall, but if coming from a distance then not suitable for a weekend. Great if you live closer though. Roy and Teresa
