PHEW - NOISE POLLUTION AT THIS SITE!

Please don't think we're complaining, but we are trying to sit outside this afternoon in the little bit of sunshine we've had all week, and all we can hear are children squealing on the play area, constant traffic at the side of us on the main road to Killin and (and we realize that maintenance has to be done sometime) someone strimming the site (he must have started this morning). I've had to shut myself in the Motorhome to block out the noise! The site itself is very open, by the river, with a rather tired toilet block, but clean, lovely helpful staff and in a perfect position within a 10 minute walk from Killin and The Falls of Dochart, which are quite stunning. If you don't like the sound of heavy traffic, then avoid the side nearest the road (which we couldn't, due to the volume of visitors when we arrived). There are nice walks up to Loch Tay and some good restaurants in Killin. We're glad we came, but it's not for us.

Spacious pitches in a nice location

We use this site typically on our way to the west coast of Scotland. It is located close to the lovely village of Killin. During our last visit we discovered a unique old railway bridge that brings you to the other side of the river Dochart. Have a look on the map because it is not signposted. There are several pubs and good restaurants. The site is well-maintained. You can choose your own pitch. They are all within a few hundred metres from the central toilet block. TV reception is fair. You can use the clubsite WiFi.

1st Visit to Maragowan

Booked this for myself and my wife for a short easter break. we spent 8 nights in total here and enjoyed every one of them. the site itself is very clean and well looked after by the friendly and helpful wardens, a credit to the club. theres plenty to do in terms of walks, cycling, fishing and paddling. Killin itself is a short walk away, and has a well stocked Co-Op and various other shops. All in all a very enjoyable break.

An ideal base for outdoor people

My wife and I come here often. We cycle quiet roads and tracks, climb hills, watch birds(this year saw nuthatches at the head of Loch Tay for the first time) and occasionally fish. Killin is a lovely village and the Parish Church is quite lively. The wardens at the site were very helpful and keep the premises very tidy as best they can. It is a shame campers are very messy in the toilets!

Maragowan 3 day stay

Lovely site. The views and walks amazing. We were a bit disappointed with the wardens as they were not very welcoming when we arrived and very abrupt when stating rules and regulations. As we love the area it would not put us off going back again.

A Wonderful Easter Break at Maragowan

Just arrived back home following a week at this wonderful site with our 8 year old daughter. Ended up booking this site as all others we tried to book were fully taken so this was quite by accident. Leading up we were worried about there not being much to do in the area as we had not really done any research, however how wrong we were, so many beautiful walks and activities in and around the area, and as we were there for the week preceding Easter it wasn't to busy. Our daughter enjoyed the visit to the Crannog centre near Kenmore, likewise the boat hire at the marina next door, £30 for 2 hours, was well worth doing to give you a different view of the loch without the rigours of paddling. Although the site itself is on the other side of the loch, and can feel isolated, the CoOp is well stocked (its like a Tardis inside) and there are some lovely places to eat close by. The site was spotless, yes the toilet blocks look tired, however they are spotlessly clean and showers were of usual caravan club standard. Nice flat pitches, although TV signal can be temperamental during centre times of day and weather coniditions. Would definitely head back there again!

Great for visiting Killin and local walks

Had two nights here in April 2017. We had heard that the site can sometimes be susceptible to flooding, and it was interesting to see how the facilities were adapted to offset the worst of this risk. Fortunately it was dry for our stay. The showers/loos were not quite up to usual club standards, but we suspected this was due to designing in flood precautions. The site is great for exploring the village, where there's a good range of shops and eating. Theres a lovely circular walk to be had up to the head of Loch Tay, and nearby there's the NTS site of Moirlanich Longhouse though this is only open at odd times.
