Great site,

Great site full when we were there in September but everything worked well. Small dog walk but the area is wonderful for walking off site. Poor TV signal due to atmospherics at time of visit, hook up would be good. Great pub at Hanley Swan but you have to pay! but what high standard food.

Another enjoyable stay

We have stayed at this site a few times as it is only just over an hour away from our home. The site itself is quite large and has excellent facilities. The Malvern Hills are a short distance from the site and a great place for good walks with the dogs. The village of Hanley Swan is about a 10/15 minute walk away with a small shop and good pub. When we last visited the site was full as there was an event on at the Three Counties Showground nearby. We have never experienced anything other than a friendly welcome at this site. The wardens should be congratulated on keeping the site and its facilities in such good condition.

A very wet week

It took us some time to find this site as it's very rural, but we weren't disappointed. The site is really clean and the wardens are very helpful. The dog walk was a bit disappointing. It's ok if you have a small dog that doesn't need much exercise but not much good for large dogs. It's a one mile walk up to The Swan Inn and we went up there on our first night for a meal with friends. We were not too keen on it as it's 'designer' food and we thought it was rather overpriced, and wine was also expensive at £16 a bottle. We chose the wrong pitch as there wasn't much stone left on it and as it's rained all week so far it's become quite muddy and we've had to put towels on the carpets to try and keep them clean when the dog gets in!! If we return to the area it's possible we would come back to this site, although there's others we would ok at first.

REALLY DISAPPOINTING

We booked into this site to stay a week. We arrived early and on arrival we were told by the male assistant warden that we couldn't sit there... we were in the arrivals lane! We went to the office and were told by the assistant warden that we could not possibly stay on site until 12 mid day when they would allow us through the gate!!! We asked where we could go and park, she told us she didn't know!!! She lives there and knows the area surely?? We asked if we could drive into the site and turn as we are a motorhome towing a small car due to the fact my husband is a blue badge holder.... we were told no that there was ample room to turn where we were! We had nothing better to do but unhitch our car and it took 4 attempts to turn our motorhome to get out of the site again.... we knew we were early but hadn't even attempted to even ask if we could gain entry. We were not offered the late arrivals area where we would have safely been out of the way but just told that We must leave the site!!! Being a stranger in the area we found this really difficult and really upsetting as other motorhome owners and caravaner's will know you attempt to avoid any obstacle that could be in your way. And also because of my husbands disabilities we do so even more so. It was thanks to the assistant warden who told us to go right out of the lane and we would find somewhere to park up there... we duly did so and went back just before mid day to see other caravans already been let through the gate and setting up for their stay.... it really put us off and certainly WAS NOT A WELCOMING SITE!

Comment from the Club:

Thank you for your review and feedback. It helps us all to improve our service to members. We are very sorry that you did not think our welcome was up to the Clubs usual standard and the site staff can only apologise for not explaining well enough their reasons for not allowing you on site at 8.30am. It was necessary for you to move as the site expected a very busy exit that day and needed all the road area for temporary parking. They did offer assistance to exit the arrivals area and advised that you could return at 11am. We are pleased that one of our wardens was able to suggest a suitable place to park and we hope you subsequently had an enjoyable stay at Malvern Hills. In order for us to support members with disabilities it is helpful for the site to know in advance if you have a disability. You can do this by contacting the site directly before you arrive. Thank you again for your review.

post / mail

Do not expect to receive post / mail without big complaints from wardens at this site, And to be spoken to like a naughty school-child. Remember that members pay their wages. Thought wardens were there to provide our every camping need. When campsites do not provide tourist information, we get it sent to us. Why does this Club not understand that? Suggestions to Club Provide as much local tourist information as possible. Sell maps and town trails at reasonable prices.

Beautiful Site shame about the neighbours

We stayed for 3 nights over the bank holiday weekend. The site is beautiful, clean and the wardens very friendly. Unfortunately the site adjoins the Camping and Caravan club site. I have never stayed anywhere so noisy. From start to finish continuous noise. Loud radios, loud car music systems, loud children, screaming, shouting, just continuous loud noise. At one point on Saturday night the music from the adjoining site was so loud we had to go round and complain, the wardens on the camping and caravan site (next door, not ours) said they had already had complaints and they would speak to the people concerned. Eventually it quietened down. All three nights we could hear loud music until very late. Such a shame as the Caravan Club site is so nice, but wont be coming again. Returned home for some peace and quiet.
