Smashing site

Booked in here for 2 nights to specifically visit Longleat Safari Park and House. I didn't follow the site instructions to use a different postcode and my truck/MH satnav sent me first down a lane that wanted me to drive onto the Longleat estate through a barrier and one-way system (the wrong way) onto another route that sent me down farm tracks! Anyway, upon arrival we were greeted warmly by the reception. Chose a pitch tucked away on a circular route of the site and was very pleased with the sizing and quality of the pitch. The service road for the Estate ran behind my pitch and whilst i'd read another review that said they use it from 07:30, they actually use it from about 06:00 and some of the vehicles are noisy!! The facilities are very good, as you'd expect for a club site. The children's play area is ok, but nothing spectacular. In terms of its location to Longleat, it cant be beaten - its really only a couple of mins walk from the site entrance. A couple of pubs are within a few miles walk but we didn't venture out. The reception does sell some provisions, and lots of goodies (chocolates and sweets!). Overall, we really liked the site but would probably not return unless we were going into Longleat again.

Peace and Quiet in a Beautiful Area

Stayed her as a couple early April during our school holidays and met up with relations from West Wales. Could not believe how empty the site was during holiday time - could it be the fact that it is no longer possible to walk around the general areas of the Longleat centre without paying. There was a time when basic entry was free of charge to CC members, this is now an expensive add on to the site fees. Still, it is a beautiful and peaceful site with excellent friendly new wardens. There are many things to do in the area to keep one occupied for several day trips without paying for Longleat itself. We walked to a couple of local hostelries and they were like chalk and cheese. The Horse and Groom was a huge disappointment with our jacket potatoes served cold and dirty cutlery. To be the fair the food was replaced but we did not feel like having a dessert, all things considered. The Royal Oak was a delight. Great food and very friendly staff - highly recommended. A day out at the National Trust Stourhead estate is not to be missed. Take a walk around the lake - anti clockwise is best apparently - and be amazed at the delightful and quirky buildings that keep on surprising you around nearly every bend. All in all a great few days and we will be back.

Over priced

Had a 2 night stay and very pleased with the site and staff, however we asked if we stay the rest of day on our departure date expecting to pay a little amount. Rules state you have to be off SiteSeeker by 12 to allow new arrivals after 1pm because of a single track into the site and avoid two way traffic. I accept that but to charge another nights stay at £30.20p and you can leave whenever you want is a bit excessive, we only wanted another 6 hours max. Caravan owners, Motorhomes, and visitors are in and out all day so really the rule contradicts its self.

Excellent stay

My stay at Longleat was my first at a club site since joining this year. Very good directions given due to the difficult lanes, warm and friendly welcome, very clean and well attended site with great facilities. I usually opt for child free places to stay, but must admit, the children on site were unobtrusive. Fantastic site and one which will see me again.

Lovely Location

This was our first visit to a full Caravan Club site and we were impressed with the lightly wooded site and excellent facilities - clean and a warm shower block which was much appreciated for oblutions and spacious hardstanding pitches. We stayed at the site with the express intention of visiting the safari park at Longleat - we were surprised to find an entrance to Longleat just a few metres from the caravan site and after one day visiting with the car to drive around the reserves, the second day we returned as pedestrian visitors. We heard the sealions in the evening - their lake is just behind the caravan site. A couple of big supermarkets just a few minutes drive away in Frome. Overall very impressed.

Loved it.

Yet another club site that was everything the website said it was. Fantastic location, well maintained grounds, good level pitches, clean washrooms/toilets and right on the doorstep of Longleat. Took a quick look in the information room and found the directions for the local pubs printed out in bits of paper to take with you alongside masses of other local area info/menus/directions/etc.. Had a good day out in longleat and because we were right next door (100 yards) we went back to the motorhome for lunch and then returned and finished off the attractions. Walked to the Horse and Groom on the Friday night, took about 35 minutes and found a small local pub complete with friendly 'local's' and a huge menu. Had a couple of steaks but would have happily eaten the 'Friday Special' (main and desert for £5.00!), and a fair number of the locals seemed to be there for the Friday special. In fact it was so good we walked back again on the Saturday night for "Steak Night' and were treated like locals even down to knowing our drinks. Finally decided on a Chateaubriand for Two (less than £24.00!) which was superb. We will be going back to stay again but without visiting the attractions next time.

Great site for events being held at Longleat

We stayed here over the New Year, where we had also booked tickets to go to the Festival of Light (which was a really good day/evening event for all the family, by the way). All facilities were to the usual good CC standard, and access to Longleat Safari Park is a very easy short walk. Site is usually quite quiet (although some noise in the early evening from the Festival of Light event, but only until about 7pm). There are some excellent cycle routes around the outskirts of the estate, which gives another day of activity. All in all, a very pleasant stay!

New Year at Longleat

We saw in the New Year at Longleat and it continues to be a fantastic site, well looked after and clean. We've been a few times before but this time saw more of the surrounding Wiltshire countryside and a few nice country pubs! I especially want to thank again the friendly wardens for the effort they put into the New Year party which was lovely and very thoughtful of them. There's no doubt we'll be back as this is one of the best sites in the country.
