5 Star site but never again

This is a 5* site, well maintained, clean, relaxing with friendly and helpful staff. However, and there is always an however, the access road is a potential death trap. Turning from the main road onto Lane End, a narrow road. You travel some 100 yards and you have to turn left onto a very narrow lane, similar to a farm track that has had a tarmac surface put on it, the problem is that the left turn is a blind bend with high banks and hedges to the sides and it is at the top of an incline. We were returning from a trip to the local supermarket one afternoon and were just about a car's length from the turn when a very large 4x4 estate tractor came round the bend at speed and cutting the corner. The tractor missed us by no more than 3 feet, the tractor driver was of course wearing ear defenders so there was no way he could have known we were there. This was bad enough but immediately behind the tractor were three fully laden 56 seater coaches driving nose to tail at speed and they also cut the corner. Had we been some 5 seconds earlier there could have been a serious 5 vehicle accident with a potential for a casualty list of over 150 people. We left the site early on the Saturday morning, about 7.30, and even then there were estate staff driving along the road as if they were Lewis Hamilton and they were not pleased at having to slow down and give way. This is an excellent, quiet site, with helpful and friendly staff but for us the access road makes it a no no.

Last minute weekend away

We went to Longleat as last minute getaway, close to home. It is quite a big site but it does not feel like that when you are on it. The facilities are excellent and well maintained. The safari park is very close and a 10 minute walk to the house. Vehicular access is only a few minutes back up the access road. You do get some noise from the park but it did not bother us and you can hear the animals on occasion, especially the sea lions. You are also close to some quaint Wiltshire and Somerset villages so plenty to see away from the park. We stumbled across Somerset Lavender www.somersetlavender.com/ which was a bit different with a tea room and shop. We had a lovely relaxing weekend and will definitely go again.

Animal park

Great site, not just for the safari park, very open, plenty of space to enjoy. Lots of open views and nice walks. The safari is great as well and easy access from the site. Check the postcode, as we had to do 13 point turn in a closed road, with the caravan attached.............

Lovely peaceful break

We were most impressed with the high standards on this site and the mass of information available for visitors. Warm, welcoming staff. We visited midweek and will definitely be returning.

Safari days

Stayed here for 5 nights June 2017 and had 4 full days in the park. Superb location close to Longleat safari park. 5 minutes walk into site, excellent facilities, peaceful and tranquil. Toilets and showers were immaculate, pitches spacious and level. Plenty of bins and water points across site. Will definitely visit again to explore the area more fully.

A fantastic break

We stayed for 4 nights from 30th June till 4th July 17. Wish it was longer. We'll definitely be coming back for longer next time. The staff are friendly and all do a fantastic job and keep the site spotless. Facilities are excellent. We had a hard pitch with an awning. You will need metal pegs for these. TV signal poor, but the electric hook up bollard has a TV ariel hook up too. So picture is OK. We got a 2 day pass into Longleat, which was brilliant. And as you can walk out of the site exit straight into longleat park was even better. We popped back to the caravan at lunch time, saving money on the price's of food and drinks. We got the Safari bus for £5 each. Well worth it as it's cheaper than replacing parts of your car and the bus stop is just around the corner from the site. We couldn't hear the lion's roar at night. But could hear the sea lions barking. Which was nice. Super market about 10 minutes away so very handy all round. Can't rate this site enough. Well worth a stay

3 day break

We recently stayed at this site taking advantage of the CC discount for a 2 day pass to Longleat which was good value. We purchased the £5 safari bus ticket that takes you through all the enclosures, it's a great way to see all the attractions without having your car wrecked by the monkey's! The club site is clean and well cared for, the wardens were very helpful and friendly throughout our stay. The visiting fish & chip van was well organised, food was hot and freshly cooked. All in all this is a great site we will come back again.

Wonderful for Kids and Safari

We stayed at the site Thursday 22 June to Sunday 25 with our 2 children, aged 7, to visit the safari park. We got the tickets with the C&MC online. We bought the 2 day ticket as the C&MC web site stated that you can buy an extra day ticket at cost pf £10 per person (this worked out chepear for 3 days than buying the 5 day ticket we could not use all 5 days) however when I arrived at longleat guest services they said the web site was wrong, they still honored the offer though (after much debate) and I was permitted to buy the tickets for the extra day. The C&MC site is very peaceful, its on the esate so no traffic noise. All facilities clean and very big ptiches. The site staff were really friendly and helpful. the only down side is the long access lane which means you cannot leave later than 12.00 (even if they wanted you to stay longer) as caravans would be coming up the late to arrive. We had amazing food in warminsiter Snooty Fox (found on trip advisor). The longleat safari park was excellent, we did everyihing more than once over the 3 days. the main square is only 5 minutes walk from the site so if you have a ticket the kids enjoy the facilites there while its open. The C&MC play park is very small and aimed at 2-5 year olds, as this is such a family focused site ideally it should be larger with more agest catered for, in peak times it would not be big enough for all the kids. If you are not using the safari park and cannot acess their facilities, it might be too quiet for kids, if you see some of the reviews moaning about children on scooters you willl note the members who are not tollerant to children (many of whoom post on discussions). We saw kids scootering and they were following the rules and stopped well before 9pm so really not a big deal. Lovely peaceful site for safari park woluld visist again to see wider area.

Beautiful site ruined by electric / normal scooters

We stayed at this site from 2nd to 5th June 2017. Beautifully located for visiting longleat and a great base for Bath. Facilities are good and the washrooms are nice and clean. We parked our touring van on plot 163 - adjacent to the toilet block as we had an 18 month old baby and this was possibly the shortest walk. However, this pitch was also on the junction of 2 roads and seemed to be the meeting point for all the kids on site....... and they all used this section of road as a race track for there scooters, both manual and electric!!! I had to politely ask kids to go and play near there own caravans, especially in the evening when we were trying to relax and put little man to sleep. This single factor really did ruin our stay at the caravan site and, although we did inform the site staff, nothing changed. Having paid a premium we are, i believe, entitled to a degree of privacy and peace and quiet...... i expected more from this site, i didn't expect a race track.
