Lovely site

Lovely site. We went when children where in school so it was nice and quiet. Toilet and shower blocks are clean and warm. A bit narrow getting to the site but we had no hold ups as long as you go at the right time. Easy accessible for longleat, only a 5 mins walk. The site warden are welcoming and don't mind answering any questions you have. Will definitely go again next year and have recommended it to family and friends. Didn't hear any lions only sea lions .

wonderful stay, terrible drive to site

we have just had a wonderful stay at cmc site Longleat, unfortunately the last mile of the journey was terrible, the lane was only one vehicle wide, no passing places, we used the clubs directions so cannot blame sat nav. got our Longleat entry tickets through the clubs site and got discount entry, also was given discounts vouchers to food outlets and the shops. advise you use the big red bus to go around the park to see the animals, the staff said they pick up and fill a skip with 2 tons of vehicle bits each week. we saw how determined the monkeys are. staff treated us like family, wonderful people.

Lovely site best avoided over Bank Holiday weekends!

Out of necessity we stayed at this site for 5 nights from August Bank Holiday Saturday until Thursday. We knew it would be busy so had no expectations of much peace and quiet, and we were 100% right! To be fair, after 10/11 pm the site was quiet which is pretty good for a site which is 100% full. It was just daytime and early mornings where calm was in short supply. It's to be expected that the site's proximity to Longleat Safari Park, and the site's own play park attracts families with children. I just wasn't quite prepared for the masses of scooters, bikes and skate boards that go with this. They were flying past us in hordes - and on hard surfaces they sound quite intimidating in such big groups. I don't want to make this a complaint because it's lovely to hear the children playing out rather than indoors playing computer games. However, the difference between the weekend and later in the week when the majority of wheelie kids had gone home in terms of peace and quiet was huge. The site is beautiful, well managed, and has lovely leafy pitches and sunny spaces too. Out of 164 pitches we could only chose from 5 on arrival - so just think twice if you're heading there over a major holiday period. The proximity to Bath and Bristol is fine; we managed to spend very enjoyable time in both cities. Bath, a beautiful city, was a lovely surprise to me, not having been there before. The Roman Baths are not to be missed! Interesting, and good value anyway but better still if you use a CClub voucher when one adult gets in free with another. The thermal baths are not such great value. They were expensive (£70 for two for 2 hours) and were poorly organised. I wouldn't go back and I wouldn't recommend a visit to anyone who hasn't been either. It is literally 5-10 minutes walk from the Site to the The Safari Park Gates where you can catch a Sarari Park Bus to go round the park (£5 each). This avoids using your own car and preserves your windscreen wipers and wing mirrors if you go through the monkey enclosure! You can drive through the park and avoid just the monkey enclosure, but they are quite fun to watch (if it's not your vehicle they're sitting on) so it would be a shame to miss them. The park is a good, full day out and we enjoyed our time there, even though it was Bank Holiday Monday! Finally, having read the previous reviews and noted the warnings on access, it's definitely not as difficult as we expected. You DO have to drive with care - so what's new? It IS a single track road in some areas - so what's new? Just be careful, take it easy and you'll have a great time!

Very good site let down by fellow members

Stayed here again over the long august weekend. Site up to its usual high standard, very clean and wardens very friendly. What let it down for us was fellow members consistently walking across our pitch, mostly between the playground and toilets. I was also shocked to see someone had stolen the shower rack from some of the gents showers! We didn't visit the estate this time, simply used as our base for bath. I'm sure we will be back in due course :)

Relaxing and entertaining weekend

As Mrs C, this was my first time driving the motor home on my own with my daughter for a girls' weekend away. I set out with trepidation following the reviews of the narrow roads. Phew! It was nowhere near as bad as I was expecting, so don't fear it, everyone! The welcome from the wardens was excellent and facilities provided were clean. Great effort has been made to ensure the grounds are well kept and extra facilities such as badminton net and ping pong tables are an added bonus. Of course, the added attraction for us was Longleat itself. Great value discounted tickets pre-booked and we had a wonderful two days at the Park, but able to easily come back to the site to relax. The site was quiet and we had fabulous weather. We will definitely be back! Thank you to the wardens for providing such lovely surroundings.

Brilliant site

We stayed here Aug 17 , the staff were amazing the site was lovely and clean. The location was 1st class for longleat. It was noisy but we parked near the park for our kids so this didn't bother us one bit as we have 2 young children ourselves. Facilities were good and clean very quick and simple checkin and cute shop on entrance. We loved the herbs that were on the shop front with a little sign saying please take one for your tea, this was a lovely little touch. Bad reception but shop provided leads for aerial point we bought one and TV worked perfect. Thanks for the lovely welcome.

Fantastic site in ideal location.

Fantastic clean site, ideally located for Longleat safari. Was slightly worried about roads in to the site after reading reviews but didn't have any problems. Site wardens very helpful and always around to ask any questions. Pitches nice and level, toilet block was spotless. Park and a small games room for the children. Booked the Longleat Safari bus, didn't want parts taking off our car by the monkeys! Longleat house is well worth the visit. Visited the Roman Baths, parked on Odd Down park & ride, £5.50 return for 2 adults 2 children.
