Excellent Site

Stayed here 2016 and its a very quiet, private site, literally next door to Longleat House and just down the road from the Safari Park.

Speechless

Where do you start, best start with the wardens who without there dedication, the site wouldn't be so clean. Toilets immaculate grounds kept in good order, but what impressed us more was the layed back way they greeted us, The great smile when greeting us and showing us to our peg. Imagine this a warm sunny evening sat outside the caravan with a large class of red wine, the smell of wild garlic floating on the air. The sound of roaring lions yes roaring lions, the seals shouting for there dinner, and numerous other animal sounds fantastic. Great for families lots of little towns and villages to explore. The white horse not far away. A truly back to nature site run by a team of professionals who do the caravan and motorhome club, proud. Well done wecwill be back.

May Day Break

First time ever to this site and what a beautiful site it is. Ok, there were families with children playing, but it was bank holiday weekend. Took advantage of the Longleat discount offer - great saving and highly recommend. Would love to visit more 'off season' time to enjoy the tranquility. Phone signal is poor but that doesn't matter - wouldn't overly say that the WIFI is 'Silver' either - more Bronze in my opinion.

Lovely experience

The site is spacious and very clean and tidy. The wardens were very friendly and helpful. We visited the safari park with the club discount, which was a good saving and a lovely day out.You just walk into the park from the site. Perfect. I cannot wait to return for the Festival of Light.

Excellent Site!

We visited here Easter bank holiday weekend and despite the dismal wet weather we had a fantastic time. The pitches are very spacious and the site itself is spotless, showers are hot and very clean and the separate unisex toilets are heated too which I thought was a great touch. We decided to stay here as we took advantage of the caravan club discount for the safari park and bought a 2 day pass but we would not hesitate to stay here again even if we weren't visiting the park as the site is wonderful and teaming with wildlife and the kids can roam around safely using the games room, play area or ride their bikes. The fact that you can hear the lions roaring in the night and the sea lions during the day was very exciting for the children and lovely to hear. We cant wait to come again.

Great Family Break

We stayed here last summer for 3 nights as a family. We'd booked to go to the Safari Park and this site is located right next to one of the entrances. But don't just go there for that as the site is set in beautiful countryside. The children enjoyed the games room and play areas. Pitches are good and site is clean. Will probably return sometime.

Perfect Escape

We always tend to find somewhere for a New Year break that offers an escape with fun for our two young children. This was perfect. The location is fabulous. I’ve seen some criticising the approach road - why? To have the best locations often there’s a minor compromise. The access from the main road is narrow briefly but then is a properly made up road - it’s not a track and isn’t particularly bendy or dangerous. The approach to the site was fabulous. Lots of room and sufficient Late Night Arrivals Parking which we utilised. The site offers far more character than many of the Club’s sites with open pitches and others surrounded by trees and a choice of locating on a quieter side away from the Longleat service road. If you are a light sleeper avoid the pitches close to this road as Longleat staff and deliveries commence rather early and can be noisy. Over the other side you’ll be adjacent to the waterfall, the steam railway and the distant cries of sea lions. It’s magical for children. The wardens here were so friendly and helpful. They are a credit to the site (although I believe you’ll find them at other sites this year) and the facilities were spotless even though the site was almost full over New Year. You can walk into Longleat so avoiding the parking issues and collect your car for easy access to the Safari. Yes, Longleat is costly but in our opinion worth every penny if you leav yourself sufficient time to do all on offer. Our 4 yr old and 7 yr old loved their break here as we did so much in close proximity. Bath is a short drive and offers so much and there many other places of interest and beauty close by. If like us you want to visit during school holiday time it seems advisable to book early as we struggled to get a pitch and it took much perseverance to eventually get a booking. Also - don’t miss the Festival of Light if here across the Festive period. It was magnificent. I would visit Longleat and caravan there with my parents in the 70s and this first trip with my children was made very special because of the quality of the site and the hard work of the Club’s staff.

Longleat at New Year

We stayed for 6 nights and of course visited Longleat's Festival of Lights which was great as well as watch two 1/2hr fireworks displays New Years eve and New Years day from the site. The good thing about the site is you are within a few hundred yards to walk into the main house area. Toilet blocks and facilities are to the usual high standard. Over the 6 days we did have a lot of rain and some of the hard standing pitches had standing water. The only drawback was the noise of tractors and site traffic from approx 6:30am onward as the road is the main service road to the house. One of the positive benefits is being able to hear the sea lions and sometimes other animals while on site. Yes I would visit again.

Safari

We thought the prices were too high for this time of year. The road getting to the site is awful. That's the two gripes out the way. The rest is positive. The whole site is clean and tidy. The shower blocks are something other sites should aspire to. Clean and warm. The wife suggested we move from the van into there with sleeping bags. lol. The safari by bus was excellent. The "sculptures" of the fairy book theme were so very good, but when we went back in the evening when they were lit up,,, well the word magical comes to mind. The crappy little road getting to the site must be horrendous in the summer, but the whole experience is so well worth it. Highly recommended.

Festival of Light and NYE Fireworks - wow!

We stayed at Longleat during New Year and fully recommend both the festival of light and the fireworks. The light show had a 'story book' theme which was excellent for the children and had a magical feeling, along with the Santa train and laser show around the Christmas tree. The fireworks during New Years Eve were also excellent and some of the best we have seen. Overall this is the best New Year we have had in the caravan with so much to do so close to the site, we have already booked to go again next year. As others have mentioned, the access road is tight in places, therefore members need to ensure they stick to the arrival and departure times.
