Little Gem

Delightful campsite. Typically clean and well laid out. Enhanced by the friendliness of all the staff. Some road noise, but this can be alleviated by selecting your pitch. Particularly bad on the left hand side after the barrier. Very good dog walk with secure fencing - not huge, but adequate. No real walk from site. West Beach great for dogs, Height barrier for West Beach car park but road parking available opposite the golf course. There is a round walk going past the golf club and back along the beach, but this does get overgrown with nettles, so long trousers necessary. Biggest problem with the area is height barriers on most car parks, even National Trust. Nowhere to park on sea-front for motorhomes or camper vans (height barrier) Avoid Fred's fish and chip shop in Littlehampton - poor quality - better shop two doors away

Great location

Great site, close to road but ideal for walking to Littlehampton or Arundel. Very friendly and helpful staff. Bit windy on our first day so gave up with the awning but otherwise a great find!

Great site, great team, great location

Our second time at Littlehampton, fantastic little site run by a great team of wardens. We stayed over Easter weekend and they had a kids colouring competition with Easter Eggs on offer for the winners, a lovely touch and the kids really enjoyed it! Facilities spotless, pitches well looked after, quick check-in, no issues at all!

Little Gem of a site but make sure you book the right pitch…..

We had a great week here, it is located in Wick which is very close to Arundel and Littlehampton. We did not start too well as I had booked a non awning pitch which on other sites I have been on I don’t think was an issue. However after setting up we had to move as non awning really means non awning…. Anyway my issue as I had booked the wrong pitch (remember next time) and the little wind out awning is not normally classed as an awning. But the site is great, clean, well spaced out and the staff are excellent ( even when I was grumpy!). We took the dogs on a bus to Arundel which is just sublime, lots of beautiful walks and just a lovely town. The site has a pub to the left (locomotive) and a pub to the right six bells) the locomotive is more of a drinking pub as it opens at 12 the six bells is a food pub as it only opens at 6 and the food is very good indeed. I would have no hesitation coming back here it is a lovely location, there is a Morrison’s just down the road too….p.s don’t get there until just after 1 as it is carnage on the road outside….

An enjoyable trip

We’ve just spent an enjoyable 2 weeks at Littlehampton. We arrived too early, they are strict about the 1 o’clock arrival time! We were redirected to a large Tesco supermarket carpark to wait 20 minutes, I don’t really see why we couldn’t have gone in to wait and go back to book in! However the warden was kind and calm! The weather wasn’t brilliant and the wardens were always about making sure everything was ok! Paul and his wife Karen were particularly helpful and friendly, nothing was too much bother. We had fish and chips from the on-site van on both Friday nights we were there, we thought they were of exceptional quality, the small cod was enormous and one portion of delicious chips was plenty for both of us! Yes there is some road noise but we didn’t find it particularly intrusive. The grass pitches were not open till the last couple of days before we left, so the site wasn’t as busy as it could have been. We’ve been here several times and really like it! However more serviced pitches have been made, not sure why, the money could have been saved to keep the costs down for club members.

Enjoyable Time on Site

My husband and I recently spent a few days at the Littlehampton Club Site. We discovered after setting up that we had a big problem with our gas supply not coming through. We asked the Wardens for some help and Paul and Karen came along and were very happy to help us as much as they could even offering to cook our dinner for us in their own unit, for which we thank them. They helped us make it safe and recommended a good caravan engineer who came along and solved the problem the next day. All of the Wardens were very cheerful and helpful making our stay really enjoyable. We look forward to visiting the site again soon.

Among my favourite sites

This was my second visit to Littlehampton. The passage of time, just five years in this case, and visits to more recently refurbished sites, made the site feel less impressive than I remembered it. It remains a very good site, however. The pitches are of a good size, largely weed free and the site has bright, open and clean feel to it. It is well looked after with a good toilet block. The location is great.

Littlehampton is rough and rundown, but it is pleasant down on the front, in the old town and along the river. I walked along the front to Rustington, which is a delight, and then to the shops which contrast sharply with Littlehampton and are very lovely. For buses you need the 9 to the town or to Arundel the other way. The excellent 700 service no longer serves Arundel and, hence, nor the site. The nearest stop for the 700 is in Courtwick Road in Wick, about ten minutes’ walk. This bus runs along the coast to Brighton, or you can change to go to Chichester and even Portsmouth the other way. The 9 also runs to Shoreham, but the 700 is a superior bus and much more frequent. Arundel is lovely and the Catholic cathedral worth a visit. A Morrisons and a few other selective shops are very close the site, which is perfect, in my view, for motorhomers.

I am not remotely bothered by traffic noise – or planes or trains come to that. I find these ambient sounds reassuring and they are a positive for me. Here, the A284, runs along 1½ sides of the site, carries a constant stream of traffic from early until late, and, with the nearby railway crossing, vehicles frequently stop and start – leading sometimes to the beat from a high-volume entertainment system. Choose your pitch carefully if traffic noise is an issue for you.

I get stressed with localized noise; loud neighbours, al-fresco parties, intrusive music, excessive door banging etc. My pitch, at a dead end, secluded and private, with few passers-by, looked perfect; but, behind the high hedge, to my off-side, was reception and the arrivals’ lane. From 1pm, there were fairly constant cab and car doors banging, engines starting, or worse left to idle, Sevel fans blowing, and the barrier repeatedly groaning like a sick cow. It made me realize that nearness of reception was not something I had ever factored into pitch choice before in 35 years! In future, I will consider it.

A food van comes on Friday. I had large cod and chips and curry sauce. I am sorry to report that this was positively awful. The pack-bought fish was not cooked through and, if it was large, I’d hate to see small. The curry sauce was a sweet, gingery, barely edible concoction full of cornflour. I think the chips were oven chips; certainly, no chips were fried on the van I am sure. There’s more, but I’ll spare you. I would never use this again. Maybe, some dishes are good?

Despite the pitch issue, and the truly terrible catering van, both of which were avoidable, this remains a favourite site of mine and I shall return.

West Sussex Gem

A perfect location to explore West Sussex from. Easy drive to Arundel with its castle, picturesque town and wild birds galore at the wetlands. Worthing a short drive along the coast. Littlehampton just down the road etc etc. Site is well maintained with nice pitches and clean wash facilities. Staff all very helpful and friendly. We were even advised to use the tv hookup provided on every pitch to ensure good tv reception. Also great advice on fully unwinding electric hookup cable to reduce fire risk. We enjoyed a great nights sleep with no disturbance. There is s little road noise but we couldn't hear it inside our outfit and not obtrusive out in the fresh air. A lovely site that we will definitely revisit in the future.

Lovely Site

Littlehampton was our first site in our new motorhome. We was on a serviced pitch which was very large and had all we needed. There was some road noise but once inside you couldn’t really hear it. Wardens were very polite and informative. Good area for the dogs and you could let them off, unfortunately there was one camper who decided he was above everyone else and didn’t have to clean his dog mess up, but didn’t realise I could see him. I have three dogs and am disabled but I do not leave my dogs mess for someone else to stand in. Littlehampton thank you for a lovely short stay
