Autumn visit

We spent 7 days on this site, a very large site, grass and hardstanding pitches. One toilet block for a very large site, the toilets and showers are very dated, paint peeling off the walls in the ladies toilets, one hair dryer, and the washing machine out of the ark. apart from that, Chirk is a lovely place, lovely walks along the canal and the castle well worth a visit,

Weekend Stay - Chirk

Stayed for a weekend and had a lovely time despite the weather. Only a stones throw from beautiful Chirk Castle, would recommend a visit there. Also only a short walk into Chirk for the shops, pubs and a stroll along the aqueduct

Start of Holiday

We arrived to be greeted by friendly and helpul warden and they pointed out their tee shirts with the 5 mph sign on it and asked us to co operate with the speed limit. We wanted a hard standing awning pitch so headed down to the lower road level. We found our pitch but the caravan marker was right at the edge of the pitch this was because there was only room for the caravan and awning with no space for our car at the side of the caravan. All the cars on this level were parked sideways in front of the caravans on both sides of the road. This presented us with a worry of the car getting scratched or damaged by groups of children riding their bikes or scooters the wrong way round the road system and in speeds in excess of 5mph. The were also riding between the vans on our side of the road from the top road down the grassy bank. One day when we were on our way out in the I looked in the mirror and to my surprise their was a child of about 7 on a bike tring to come to over take me as I was going at 5mph which was slower than him. The toilet block on this site is very tired and is in desperate need of renovation. The water pressure is terrible and two nights running I had to change showers mid shower as the water stopped altogether. The ceiling tiles were moudly and their was dead flies in the light fittings. Having said that the site is set in a lovely area with lots of walking from site. Come on caravan club we pay enough to stay on this site update it please

poor management.

booked 3 nights , checked in first day and was given gate and pitch number card for barrier. went out and on our return later in evening found another camper on our pitch .whats the point of giving a card with your pitch number on if you cannot return to it ?.  had to go to see the warden in the late evening who claims these things happen and even got a bit cross.   they don't happen if you check your booking diary and run your site properly . in the event we had to go on another plot but it ruined our enjoyment of the day and greatly upset the wife . this was all their mistake and instead of admitting it ,they gave us ball shit . what a shame .

Hog,Mog @pip the dogs travels.

This was our first visit to this site in Chirk. On entering Chirk from the north, we were taken aback by the huge factory on the right hand side, which we thought at the time was belching out smoke from the huge chimneys, but were later assured it was only steam. On entering the site, we thought it was well laid out, but after looking at the toilet block were disappointed to see only curtains hanging in front of the basins, rather than doors. A small problem only as the block, although slightly dated, was extremely clean. Great walking from the site, through the park to Chirk Castle, and also good walking along by the canal, especially over the aquaduct. We will definitely return.

Noises off

I made the mistake of staying on this site for 2 Sunday nights and discovered that the nearby Factory starts the production process for the coming week around 2am on both nights. With sounds of Klaxon horns , reversing vehicles and the gasses from the plant being blown through the system it did not make for a good night's sleep. I also found leaking toilets resulting in wet floors and saw a pitch where water was eminating from the ground like a spring. I doubt if I will return to this site. Wardens were great, just shows a lack of investment from the Club.

The Good, the bad and the ugly

I have recently stayed for a whole week at Lady Margaret's Park and I have a mix of feelings about the club site. For location and quiet it is second to none. The wardens made brave efforts to make their visitor's stay a memorable one. On the down side, the overall sited was "very tired" looking. The pitches were not fit for purpose and many flooded in inclement weather. On top of all that the shower blocks looked as if they had seen better days, let alone a paint brush this century. It was little more than a very large C.L. Site! I want the caravan to sit up and take notice that this site should be the jewel in their crown, for the north west of England; Instead you take site fees under false pretences. The shower blocks have showers that do not work and are little more than glorified toilets.
