We have been to Lady Margaret's a few times and never had a problem until this trip. The site was full so we could only choose from 3 pitches (that's not the problem), the pitch we chose had no fence behind and people kept going behind us as a short cut to the water and chemical waste, even though it clearly states in the information given to you on arrival not to do this(people obviously don't read this or ignored it). Also there was only 1 refuse area. Why?
Ideal
I feel compelled to write a review of this beautiful site, even though we only stayed for one night. For me there are several standout aspects of this site that make it a favourite.
Firstly the staff are welcoming and helpful. This make such a difference to how we experience a stay.
Second, the setting, in the trees and alongside the grounds of Chirk castle is amazing. So peaceful and restful yet with easy access to more active pursuits.
Thirdly the location is just amazing. Such a wonderful part of the world and an ideal base to explore Shropshire and Mid Wales. We take our dogs with us and thought the dog walking from this site to be the best. Our early morning walk to the Chirk aqueduct was so special and a memory that will stay with me forever.
Lastly, the site, although a little dated, is well maintained and a credit to the club.
Stopover
Second time we’ve stayed here just for 1 night on route to Anglesey. Pleasant site, very sheltered by trees so no chance of tv signal but not a problem for 1 night. If time, do visit Chirk Castle and gardens it’s beautiful. I would imagine the train station is a bonus for longer stays.
Amazing site team!
We stayed at Lady Margaret's on 16th May for three nights. Unfortunately, the weather had been particularly wet and due to the sites popularity we had to pitch up on a grass site which after some more heavy rain during our stay became a little too soft for our motorhome. We spoke to the site team and they sprang into action straight away, and with the help of a fellow Caravan Club member had us moving in no time. Nothing was too much trouble for the team and they did everything with a smile or a chuckle! We'll definitely visit again and hope the weather is a kinder to us next time.

Peaceful surroundings in beautiful countryside
A warm welcome greeted us, which was more than can be said for the weather. Our stay was from 26th April to 4th May and the weather was dull most of the week. The site was full throughout our stay, so pitch choice was limited. We were happy on pitch 11 in Primrose Dell, which would have seen some sun if it had shown itself.
Facilities were all closed so I can’t comment on these. It is a very quiet and peaceful site so not sure if it would be attractive to children.
Cycling along the canal paths was mostly flat and well worth it to visit lovely Llangollen. We walked over and under Chirk viaduct which is an experience in itself. A visit to Chirk castle gardens shouldn’t be missed, with the only blot on the landscape being the chocolate factory. I can also recommend The Hand hotel for a meal, very good value. For those that want to travel farther afield the train to Wrexham, Chester or Shrewsbury is just a ten minute walk away.

Peace and Tranquility
We spent a very peaceful and relaxing week here from 12th April this year my wife and I really enjoyed the site and its surrounding area, we have a motorhome and there was enough locally to keep us interested for our visit, you have Chirk Castle and its lovely park with all its footpaths right next door.
Chirk rail station is just a 10 minute walk from the site which gives you access to Chester and North Wales, we took the train to lovely Shrewsbury where we had a riverboat trip had eggs benedict sitting outside by the old corn Market with the warm sunshine we could of been in Italy.
I have to say that I feel that the club has not invested in this site and has failed to maintain it to an acceptable level for its members, on our visit it was quite apparent that things were falling apart, the pumps required to pump the sewerage up from the lower service points to the top had failed with no plan to replace them.
The wardens Simon and Becky and their assistants work really hard repairing things to present the site at its best for the members that come without the clubs financial support.
Welcome the wardens
Quiet site
Well laid out and maintained site with friendly, helpful Wardens. Primrose Dell, first turning on left is very peaceful and spacious and pretty flat. Right next door to ground of Chirk Castle, and easy walking into Chirk and along the canal, river and aqueducts. Definitely worth a couple of nights minimum.
Nice peaceful site
This was our very first stay at a CMC site. Upon arrival staff were friendly and gave us a map of the site.Due to arriving mid afternoon there were only 3 pitches left, so we had to drive round several times to locate where they were. The only one we could find was at the back of Bluebell Dell, right by the chemical/waste water drains and the storage compound, so not a very attractive pitch!
The area was under a canopy of trees so very secluded, quiet and peaceful. Lots of rabbits and squirrels darting about and there was an owl who hooted his way throughout the night - but didn't disturb us too much.
The site is in close walking distance to Chirk and the castle entrance is next door. Warning, if you're planning on visiting the castle be prepared for a steep 3 mile trek from the castle gates, hard going in places!
Also don't use SatNav as it takes you through the smallest of lanes and then told us to drive through the castle grounds which brought us out by the castle gates and the site entrance! Ideally you need to come into Chirk itself and then turn right at the war memorial.
Can't comment on cleanliness of toilets/showers etc as they were all closed due to Covid.
We had a lovely break and are looking forward to many more ;o))
First visit, very impressed
This our first visit to this site, only an hour from home for our first trip after lockdown. This is a lovely site with nicely spaced pitches amongst the trees. The bluebells were out which was a bonus! Very friendly, helpful staff. Facilities closed due to Covid.
Beautiful area for walking, Chirk Castle grounds a were lovely with great views and there are lovely walks along the canals, aqueducts and river.
Very happy to return here, loved it!
A lovely site with plenty of space
We stayed here for the first time on 27th Nov, the weather was cold and wet but that didn't stop the stay being great.
The welcome was lovely and the pitch was was spacious, we backed right onto the woods which made for a great experience.
We will be booking again as soon as we know what's happening next year with covid regs.
