Disappointed to find that to use the motorhome service point you have to use the exit and go back to reception to gain access to the site, this is not the only site I have found like this.
One of the reasons we booked to come here was for the pub/restaurant on site. No mention of it not being open at any point from enquiry to booking to logging in and it is not a cheap site either.
We feel that is a little bit underhand and it should be up front at the time if enquiry.
It us clean and tidy, but the noise from the kids playback is a bit too much for us to be honest.
This site is not in Knaresborough, it us in Scotton and it will take a fair walk to get into knaresborough.
Most other parts are good and up to club standards
Stayed here previously and had a lovely stay. The bar and restaurant closed so was very disappointed as there where still posters up advertising the takeaway menu and that wasn’t available either We were not told when checking in. Must admit we found out when we tried to go over for a well deserved pint !!
Considering the price we paid per night thought it was very expensive per night over £40
Wardens generally great but we are allowed in the loos at 10.15 and shouldn’t be told to hurry up as they clean at 10.30
Using a tap to fill up on site same as any other site you shouldn’t be told you must go to the moterhome service point there was plenty of room for vehicles to get by and think this guy was a bit pedantic he made someone else move 6” after he had set up with full awning as he had misjudged the peg really ?? No fire risk at all
Might be back but will see if facilities are fully open first
Arrived to a warm welcome and efficient booking in for a 7 night stay. As the heat wave was expected we chose a pitch close to hedge to give a bit of shade, which turned out to be a good plan. The pitches were immaculately maintained and generous in size so the site never felt crowded. Shower blocks clean and tidy and so pleased they haven't put back the shower curtains.
We knew before arrival that the Wanderer was only providing takeaway at the start of the week and closing before we left. Had a takeaway the day we arrived which was good quality and very tasty.
Good location for touring the Dales and very easy access for a day out in York.
Loved the site and plan to return next year.
Arriving today for 7 nights £329 to find the bistro is closing tonight for 2 weeks as they can’t get staff, we have been twice already this year and it was limited service.
It’s raining so we can’t sit outside and have a drink as we have a small dog, the Manager would not relent and said squash under a small gazebo with others ( it sits 4 people)
Many things seem to have changed here with new management, it’s definitely not as friendly as it used to be.
I think this will be our last time especially at £329
This was our go to site and alas we are totally disappointed
The best thing is though the bistro used to be so busy when dogs were allowed so they must be losing money
We arrived at this site today having spent a week at The Firs near Belper. On checking the on site restaurant we found we arrived the last day it was open for meals in the restaurant and replaced with a take away service until later in the month when it will close for about 3 weeks due to staff shortages.REALLY. I paid £220 for a week in Belper which I have to say was an excellent site with first class wardens.I have just paid £329 for a week in Knaresborough and I would suggest the showers etc are inferior to Belper with nothing else justifying the price difference. Perhaps someone from the club would be kind enough to pass this onto the relevant department so I may have an explanation as to why I feel really let down and ripped off.
This was our first ever experience in a motorhome and on a club site. The reception staff although busy were friendly and explained to us what we needed to do. Special mention to the Wanderer restaurant staff for a wonderful take-away meal. Lovely clean site, very good experience for our first ever stay on a site.
Outstanding club site
Huge pitches with immaculate facilities - particularly liked the underfloor heating in the showers/ toilet area.
Will definitely return
Enjoyed a lovely meal in the Wanderer - great prices and excellent food - well worth a visit.
Looking forward to returning
After a lovely stay here during the Jubilee half term and seeing some other reviews we felt we must leave one ourselves. The wardens were very cheery, polite, helpful and chatty; could not have asked for more. The site and blocks were kept exceedingly clean and lacked nothing. There we helpful little slips of paper with local directions and tips on to take from the information room.
With a young family (11, 7 & 4 year olds) we do have to say that the play park was geared up more for the older children.
A really pleasant stay, thank you.
We came here in order to re-visit Knaresbrough after a gap of 48 years. As we have a motorhome, we look for places with bus services and/or good walking routes as we try very hard not to move the motorhome during our stay. This site met these requirements well and we had a lovely day in Knaresborough and a walk back along the Nidd to the site.
The site is well maintained as to be expected but somehow seemed to lack 'character' although we couldn't put our finger on any specific shortcoming. It is certainly a good base for North Yorkshire and met our needs.
The advertised bar was not available during our stay but this did not trouble us at all.
