We stayed at this site last year and loved it so was quite worried to read the recent bad reviews, to the point we looked at booing another site
But it was bank holiday and every where was full so decided to make the best of it
I am so so glad we still went because we have had the best time
We stayed on a normal pitch with awning close to the bistro and much preferred that section of the site
Close to all the amenities of water, waste emptying, toilet, showers etc
Didn’t bother us one bit that the bistro wasn’t open, although I understand the appeal, as we walked to the local village pub (7 min walk) which was guy Fawkes lovey little pub
Yes the site is not close to town but it’s a five min driver
I recommend the waterside car park very cheap ans close to the river
Also the staff we lovely on site extremely friendly
I do agree it would be nice for reception to stock milk eggs ice cream for the kids but it wasn’t the end of the world
We will be coming back again 100%
Should not be called Knaresborough site as it is miles from Knaresborough
The Knaresborough site was great for us as we have a dog and there are lots of walks from site. The site was clean and the shower block was great.
We booked the site as it has a bar / restaurant on site and was one of its big attractions. Unfortunately it was closed the entire time we were there. Luckily there was a pub close.
The site says it is motorhome friendly but does not have a shop on site for basic provisions.
If you like walking this is a great site. It is not motorhome friendly as it has no shop on site and the closest is in Knaresborough. Knaresborough is either a 40 minute walk along the roads or 1 hour and 15 minutes through the forest by the river. So to call this a Knaresborough club site is a bit misleading.
First visit and fin Italy not our last
First visit to Knaresborough Club Site. Thought staff were lovely, very welcoming. We were on a fully serviced site which was great. Sadly we had a family next to us who were part of a larger group who had many children who were on scooters, bikes etc. thundering past us every morning and after 10 p.m. every night. They even decided to bbq in the middle of the road.
The area was lovely and walks from the site brilliant. The Wanderer was only open limited hours and for take-aways - great facility and lovely way to meet people. (Lovely staff). Facilities were very clean and good. With a site of this calibre was amazed there wasn't a shop selling the very minimum of requirements i.e. milk / bread - real miss with this site.
We were unlucky with our neighbours but thought the site was well kept and in a great location. Will definitely return in the future.
Dissapointed
We were looking forward to our stay here as we had been previously however this time left feeling very disappointed. We cannot fault the care and cleanliness of the site and it's facilities apart from the bar. I knew on booking it was undergoing refurbishment whist we were there but was led to believe that takeaways would be available. We were also unaware that the shop no longer stocks any supplies at all, milk, bread etc especially as there is no shop in the village. I came away thinking that the staff just couldn't be bothered. Having said that they were polite.
Excellent site but one or two things to be aware of
Many sites we have visited have long off road approach drives so queuing isn't an issue if you arrive a bit early. Knaresborough doesn't have this luxury unfortunately and the approach road is narrow and not really suited for a queue of waiting caravans and motorhomes. My advice is arrive after 1pm so you can get straight onto the site and avoid annoying the locals.
The site itself is wonderful, at least we thought so. It's quiet and peaceful, just what we wanted. It's not that far to walk into Knaresborough itself, as long as you're fit and healthy but if you do want to venture in without the use of a car or on foot, be wary of the buses. Let's just say they are none too reliable. Ours didn't turn in either direction so we resorted to walking one way and taxi the other. The site does provide information on a number of none height restricted car parks in a number of local towns including Knaresborough which is really helpful.
On the whole, we can't fault the site. The facilities are very clean and tidy and the staff friendly and helpful. The on site bar/restaurant isn't open Wednesday and Thursday and only from 4pm to 8pm on the other days but we didn't come for that so not really an issue.
We will definitely come back to this site. It's our favourite to date.
Dangerous entry that could have been avoided
Arrived at 1pm with a caravan stopped on the road in front of me not able to get into the site. We stopped in front of the caravan covering the entrance to an apartment car park. Quickly there was a long queue of motorhome and caravans all the way up the road to the main road. The problem was the bin men had arrived and blocked both access lanes into the site. There was no management of the queue or the bin men and people wanting to get out of the apartments got cross with me, the road was very narrow and oncoming vehicles were having difficultly getting past. I don't know why the site managers couldn’t ask the binmen to move into a single lane so they could get the queuing outfits off the main road, it really was quite dangerous. It took about 15-20 minutes until the binmen, oblivious of the problem they were causing finished and moved off. When we eventually got onto the site the staff didn’t seem to be bothered and said it was important to get their rubbish picked up, that I understand but they could have managed the situation so the bin men didn’t block access. The site was the usual well kept CAMC site although there were only 5 men's showers for the whole site so I had to wait to get a shower on the Saturday. It cost £94.20 for two people for two nights.
Also note the Wanderer was closed when we were then and was only opening for takeaway for fours hours each day on the monday after we left.
Disgraceful
Sadly booked this site specifically to use the bar/restaurant, The Wanderer. My wife & I took my sister in law for a celebration birthday weekend. We have been before & we enjoyed the on site eating & drinking so we thought it would be ideal for us. The site is a long way from Knaresborough & the only reason we came was because it had its own bar/restaurant. My sister in law is not good at walking so we felt it would be ideal. We never contemplated & were not informed that the Wanderer would be closed at the height of summer & over a weekend. When I enquired at the office, I was told the staff had gone on holiday. Absolutely disgusted that in the height of summer, the staff just close the place & go on holiday for 2 weeks. Ridiculous. Spoilt our whole weekend & upset my wife & sadly her sister. Ruined her birthday. The Club needs to look at its holiday policy.

Motorhome service points
Disappointed to find that to use the motorhome service point you have to use the exit and go back to reception to gain access to the site, this is not the only site I have found like this.

Been before, was good, not so much now
One of the reasons we booked to come here was for the pub/restaurant on site. No mention of it not being open at any point from enquiry to booking to logging in and it is not a cheap site either.
We feel that is a little bit underhand and it should be up front at the time if enquiry.
It us clean and tidy, but the noise from the kids playback is a bit too much for us to be honest.
This site is not in Knaresborough, it us in Scotton and it will take a fair walk to get into knaresborough.
Most other parts are good and up to club standards
Nice stay but disappointed with closure of the restaurant
Stayed here previously and had a lovely stay. The bar and restaurant closed so was very disappointed as there where still posters up advertising the takeaway menu and that wasn’t available either We were not told when checking in. Must admit we found out when we tried to go over for a well deserved pint !!
Considering the price we paid per night thought it was very expensive per night over £40
Wardens generally great but we are allowed in the loos at 10.15 and shouldn’t be told to hurry up as they clean at 10.30
Using a tap to fill up on site same as any other site you shouldn’t be told you must go to the moterhome service point there was plenty of room for vehicles to get by and think this guy was a bit pedantic he made someone else move 6” after he had set up with full awning as he had misjudged the peg really ?? No fire risk at all
Might be back but will see if facilities are fully open first
