Pub nearby - town quite a bit further on foot

2 nights March 2023. Good TV signal. 10 min walk on quiet lane to (good but pricey) food at The Guy Fawkes Inn. When we stayed it was takeout only from The Wanderer, on site. 40min walk on footpath to town centre. As other reviews mention, there is a shortage of men's cubicles.

Shame about the internet

This site is in a great location to see most of North Yorkshire’s main attractions. Friendly wardens who keep the site facilities very clean. Sadly, we won’t be returning until the almost non existent WiFi is sorted (annoying when we bought yearly access). We are sure that the site will be even better if the Wanderers bar reopens.

THREE NIGHTS IN kNARESBOROUGH

The site is the usual camping and motorhome club site standard, clean, tidy and adequate. The area is central to visiting many places and there is a riverside walk to Knaresborough down Nidd gorge which you can join 400 meter's from the site. This is not for cycles btw. It is about 1 hour 20 minutes to walk this route. A word of warning if you need your phone and are on EE network. There is absolutely no signal on the site and you have no wifi either. Even the site hotspot was totally useless.

Great site and great wardens!

I arrived on site and checked in only to go back to my motorhome and discover it wouldn't start. The wardens were calm, supportive and really helpful. They coned my van, directed arrivals around me, made helpful suggestions to get me moving and even supplied me with mugs of tea! I got going with the help of Mayday (brilliant) and a local garage in Scotton (I'd recommend them to anyone) and spent a lovely three days at Knaresborough. Brilliant dog walking to town and to Harrogate and overall a great site immaculately kept. The Wanderer is closed UFN but refurbishment work is getting on at pace so it might not be long till its open again. Thank you again Terri and Stuart you helped to make an unpleasant breakdown very bearable!

Great location, super staff.

We’ve only recently ‘discovered’ the Knaresborough site which is just a 1 1/2 hour trip from our home in N Lincs. What a gem. The site location is perfect for access to the Yorkshire Golden Triangle. From Knaresborough which has enough attractions itself for a short break one can easily reach, Harrogate, Wetherby, York etc and the charming Boston Spa. The atmosphere on the site is relaxing and we’ve used services pitches which are spacious and a bit of luxury - another first for us. Wardens are great, the takeaway is super too. Will definitely be back. PS I’ve given 5 stars for facilities and cleanliness but that applies to the site as a whole as we use the van facilities.

Excellent

First time visiting this site and my wife and I have been very impressed. A very nice welcome on arrival although I wish the the Lady on reception had given me her undivided attention when taking down my details instead of joining in a conversation with another customer that was being dealt with by a member of her team. So much so she forgot to give me my receipt of payment that she questioned my wife when she returned to give her our peg number it's all about being attentative to the customer your dealing with. The site itself is excellent and well looked after very clean although some signs in the pot wash area to remind the dirty people not to leave food residue in the sinks (mabe it's how they live). Would be a good idea. The path down to the dog walk area is very slippy when it's rained but the exercise field is adequate. The food from the wanderer bar takeaway is brilliant shame the bar isn't open though can't quite understand that one . Their is a pub down the road called the Guy Fawkes Inn apparently very good . All in all I would definitely recommend this club site and we hope to return in the future

Visit with our grandchildren

Stayed here for 3 nights in the Easter holidays with our two grandchildren. Friendly check in with Carl who was very knowledgeable about the area. Site was always tidy and facilities were spotless. We had a great stay apart from the first night where we experienced high winds and lots of rain. The second night wasn’t a great deal better but you cannot account for the weather. We booked a taxi with Mainline taxis, Harrogate to Mother Shiptons, Easter event. Prompt and reliable. Then had lunch at the Worlds End pub. This was followed by a ride on a rowing boat on the River Nidd. We ordered a takeaway from the Wanderer and weren’t disappointed. There were a few families staying on the site so plenty of friends for our grandchildren. This was our second stay and will definitely be back.

Shame about the Wanderer bar being closed

Fabulous site in a great location. The wardens are friendly and helpful. Just a BIG SHAME that the Wanderer bar was only open for takeaways over the weekend and fully closed during the week.

Another lovely stay

This was our 7th time staying at Knaresborough club site and it didn’t disappoint. The wardens we met were all very polite and helpful when needed. This site is perfect to get to lots of places. We visited Grimwith reservoir, Bolton Abbey, Ripon, Brimham Rocks and Knaresborough. These are all in easy reach of the site. My only one criticism this time was that one of the showers in the ladies was a little slow, but apart from that they were all lovely and clean. Our pitch was a nice decent size, with plenty of room for the car and awning either side of the caravan. We will hopefully be back, but at the moment I don’t know when it will be as the prices are to much for us sadly.

Nice site

Wardens seem v friendly. Facilities v clean. We walked into Knaresborough which is accessible by pavement (need to cross the road a few times). Took us about 35mins. The big surprise was Mother Shipton's Cave which we thought was excellent despite mixed reviews. I think its one of the those things you either feel or you dont! V much enjoyed Guy Fawkes pub which is about 0.5 miles away - in the village - pavement all the way. Gastropub and worth the £.
