Shame about the Wanderer bar being closed

Fabulous site in a great location. The wardens are friendly and helpful. Just a BIG SHAME that the Wanderer bar was only open for takeaways over the weekend and fully closed during the week.

Another lovely stay

This was our 7th time staying at Knaresborough club site and it didn’t disappoint. The wardens we met were all very polite and helpful when needed. This site is perfect to get to lots of places. We visited Grimwith reservoir, Bolton Abbey, Ripon, Brimham Rocks and Knaresborough. These are all in easy reach of the site. My only one criticism this time was that one of the showers in the ladies was a little slow, but apart from that they were all lovely and clean. Our pitch was a nice decent size, with plenty of room for the car and awning either side of the caravan. We will hopefully be back, but at the moment I don’t know when it will be as the prices are to much for us sadly.

Nice site

Wardens seem v friendly. Facilities v clean. We walked into Knaresborough which is accessible by pavement (need to cross the road a few times). Took us about 35mins. The big surprise was Mother Shipton's Cave which we thought was excellent despite mixed reviews. I think its one of the those things you either feel or you dont! V much enjoyed Guy Fawkes pub which is about 0.5 miles away - in the village - pavement all the way. Gastropub and worth the £.

Fantastic site

We have now stayed at Knaresborough on two occasions and are already discussing when to go again. The site is beautifully clean, friendly staff, wonderfully peaceful and is in a brilliant location. The reason the overall score is 4 not 5 is simply our disappointment that due to circumstances, the Wanderer is only operating as a takeaway and not a fully functioning bar and restaurant. Hopefully this will change soon. We cannot wait to return.

Good site but...

This is a good tidy site in a good location. There is one shower block which is fairly clean. It's a simple smallish site. The Wanderer 'restaurant' is take-away only and having to wait outside for any food or drinks makes you feel like it's lockdown all over again :/ The biggest let down of this site however, and hence the 3 star review is the price. At c.£60 a night before the Easter weekend is expensive, especially with CL's at much more reasonable prices. The site has not been full all week (bearing in mind there is only 80 pitches and it's the Easter holidays) and at this rate, the CAMC are becoming too expensive and members will, and are already looking for alternatives, as will we now I'm afraid to say.

Recent 5 night stay....

Stayed here for 5 nights with our 10 year old granddaughter at start of Easter holidays & surprisingly there weren't many children on site.... Staff were welcoming. You wouldn't believe that they tell everyone.... it is 5 mph on site! Lovely laid out & spacious site with well kept facilities, despite the disrespectful use by 'members'.....! Would they leave their own toilet at home in such a state? Wanderer Bar only open for takeaways as we were well aware so didn't try it but the Guy Fawkes pub served excellent food despite being a little 'pricey'.... You have to be physically capable of doing the walk into Knaresborough especially if you go via Nidd Gorge. Mother Shipton's Cave attraction rather underwhelming but area by the river & viaduct pleasant enough with access into town & castle again via a steep walk. Recommended for shorter stays. I would revisit.

Excellent site.

Knaresborough cmc site is very well kept. Facilities clean warm and well maintained. Close to the lovely town of Knaresborough which can be accessed by foot car or bus. Bus stop very close site. Ideal site for exploring Harrogate and surrounding area. York is approximately 1 hours drive. Overall, great site with the added bonus of the wayfarer bar and bistro on site. Good food and reasonable prices. We will be back.

Usual excellent CMC site

The facilities on site are all modern & beautifully clean although showers and loos are not as plentiful as I would have expected for the size & popularity of the site. It is quite near to Knaresborough town centre but there is a sharpish hill involved both going & coming back which might be difficult for the less energetic/mobile. The Wayfarer bar & restaurant has well cooked & presented food and drinks at reasonable prices. The site is very well kept we loved it enough to return very soon.

Nice site, dog owners beware!

We really like Knaresborough site it’s semi rural, it’s very well maintained and the facilities are nice and kept clean. It’s a beautiful walk into the town via Nidd Gorge, perfect for us as we walk a lot with our 2 dogs. We take them everywhere with us which is why it was disappointing to be turned away from the site bar (‘no dogs’ signage not displayed). We often eat out with our dogs only being asked to avoid carpeted areas so I don’t see the issue? We were offered a drink outside, in the cold, with no chairs to sit on…..come on, if we dog owners are going to be ‘barred’ then at least create a place for us outside, tables/chairs/shelter/patio heater???? After all, we paid the same inflated price as everyone else. Caravanning attracts ‘outdoor’ types, many are dog owners, please cater for us too Knaresborough site!

Very clean site - shame about the restaurant

This site is one of the cleanest and very well maintained sites and pitches we've stayed at in our 14 years of caravanning. The reception staff were polite and helpful too on arrival and throughout the stay. The old and new toilet blocks were always clean and warm (some previous reviews suggested they were cold). The most disappointing thing was the restaurant onsite, The Wanderer which closes at 8pm, that's assuming it even opened at all. The Wanderer at Seacroft is amazing, great food and beer - open till 10pm at the earliest. We chose Knaresborough because of the availability onsite for a restaurant thinking it would be the same but not the case. Most annoying to not have been able to use this restaurant, even for just take away and felt cheated as the rate to stay here included these facilities.
