First visit, hopefully not the last

Nice welcome, all staff pleasant and friendly through our three night mid week stay. Only our fourth visit to a CAMC site as we are newbies to caravanning, but the facilities all well kept and clean as expected and seen at other limited amount of sites we have visited. The grounds, pitches and grass all well looked after and presented. The Wanderer bar was the only cause of uncertainty for us, as other reviews have said. I understand the "bistro" type of menu will no longer be available and only snacks in future. Might be worth a phone call and check if like a couple we spoke to had not brought enough food with the plan of a meal in the restaurant. Out and about in Knaresborough if visiting by car the parking is limited but vey cheap. Busy as school holidays so can take some finding. As expected with a little old town, some of the road can be a little tight, so for longer motorhome outfits it might be worth looking on the outskirts if any are available, manoeuvring was hard enough in a medium sized car. A great site and plenty to see around the area, so we hope for a return visit.

The wanderer.

Having stayed at this site a number of times, we have seen many changes mostly for the better. Earlier in the year, we were somewhat disappointed that dogs were not allowed in the restaurant bar, however, July brings a change. Back to dog friendly, & it's a cafe bar. Well done to the wardens for working with this concept, and with support from the club, to replace both indoor & outdoor furniture to be more in keeping with a relaxed cafe concept, rather than a restaurant. We can see this being a great addition to the site. It goes without saying it is a busy site, and the staffing has to reflect the concept of the Wanderer bar. We'll be back later in the year.

Very nice site with lots of places to visit nearby

Stayed here for a week in the last week of August and because the weather had been very wet and windy before our holiday the site for most of the week was quiet but the site itself and the staff were brilliant. Knaresborough is beautiful and you could spend a full day there, the only problem when we were there was road works on the main road through Knaresborough and created a massive problem. The site is up to the usual high standards and the staff very friendly and helpful.

Lovely Site but overrated in my opinion!

Although this is a lovely site, we were not really impressed with the toilet facilities. We were expecting much better for the price we were paying. Also, the non-existence of Wi-Fi was ridiculous! I know that this is an on-going issue but there was no price reduction. I believe that this is the most expensive site we have ever stayed at! There are much better sites out there folks, for a lot less! We won’t be back :-(

Great Site but very expensive

This was our first stay at Knaresborough. Great site well kept and wonderful Wardens. We loved Kareborough, what a jewel, and a stone's throw from Harrogate, Ripon and Thirsk, caught between Dales and Moors. Just wonderful. We usually book club sites as our default if there is one where we want to stay, but also use prmium independent sites when not. Club sites offer a reliable quality standard and Knaresborough is as good as they come, but we have never paid £50/night (serviced pitch) anywhere else and can see nothing that justifies it here. We shall be looking around more in future. Just a minor frustration, we always book serviced pitches whenever possible and Knaresborough now has a good selection, but i am baffled as to why, when it is mandatory to position the unit in the middle of a large pitch, the service point is positioned on the rear corner. Water is not an issue, we all have hosepipes and the water is pressurised. Rigging up waste pipes over a distance of 3-5m whilst maintaining a fall to ensure the waste-water drains away is an unneccesary challenge.

Lovely site.

Upon arrival Warden was making arrival process easier and quicker. The site was very clean and tidy. I liked the individual pitches divided by hedges. Very spacious area, gave the feeling of privacy. Everything was close by. Warden very helpful and friendly. Facilities were very clean and fresh. Definitely returning to this site.

Knaresborough a Top Site

Knaresborough A very warm welcome from Teri on our arrival at Knaresborough. A spacious site with large pitches. All the wardens were friendly, efficient and hard working with the facilities kept up to a high standard. Unfortunately the Wanderer Kitchen was in a state of metamorphosis, but opens again on 17th.,the Guy Fawkes PH in the village was not particularly welcoming and then closed during our stay. However it’s free parking in the town after 6pm so other options available. Drakes chippie superb. A good Wednesday market in town. The Saturday Artisan Market was busy, with a nice variety of stalls. Whilst the Castle and Courtyard Museum well worth a visit. The Marigold Cafe and Boating on the banks of the river, the best we found, in a picturesque setting, as long as you are happy to walk back up the hill. Pateley Bridge a pretty town , can recommend Wildings Tea rooms by the river Cold stone cut and Stump Cross Cavern on the scenic road to Grassington worth a look to. Jenny’s cafe and Heal Coffee Shop good, in Harrogate where we visited on a damp day using the local buses, so no parking problems. Ripon, Skipton, Ilkley and Otley and the surrounding countryside not to far, whilst York is no distance. A site to be recommended

Not as advertised

booked a week at the Knaresborough site, beautiful town nice clean site and very friendly and helpful staff. HOWEVER when we booked it said on the site that there was a bar and restaurant on site and free WIFI in fact the site still says free WIFI ,and when we arrived we was given a site map and list of facilities one of which was free WIFI there is no club house bar or restaurant and defiantly no WIFI free or otherwise ,the reason I was given was no bar because cant get the staff and no WIFI because its being updated .To be fair these things happen but why cant the club email us before to let us know so we could change our plans ,we watch tv via a firestick we cant without WIFI we plan our days out via internet we cant without WIFI the holiday was totally ruined and i would appreciate a response from the club .

Very Welcoming Site

This is a nice sized site and very convenient for visiting Knaresborough and surrounding area. It’s approximately 45 minutes walk via road and about 1 hour 15 minutes via the Nidd Gorge but much prettier. It can be steep in places, so you need to be reasonably mobile to walk it. The staff were really friendly and helpful, with lots of useful local information and walks available. They were even able to help us out with a new gas canister when ours ran out. There is a nice dog walk/play area. We did find there was quite a bit of dirt on the path which I think had been spread by the tractor/mower and not left by dog owners. I think it was possibly fox poo, which ended up on shoes and dog paws- very smelly in the van afterwards. The local pub, the Guy Fawkes, is about 10 minutes walk and serves food. Probably worth booking a table. I would definitely come back to this site
