Pleasant site

We stayed on the site for 2 nights. When we arrived the site was crowded (we normally travel out of school holidays) but expected it to be busy. We were told to drive around and find a pitch. This took us quite a while as hardly any were available. We had to set up on a grass pitch, and the only space suitable for our motorhome was in a small area for 5 outfits. We parked and started looking for the electric hook-up, which surprisingly was across the other side of the area from where we pitched (the only available pitch) and our cable wouldn't reach). Had to borrow one from the assistant warden, who told us that our cable wasn't long enough, have to add we have never had that problem before. The site was in a very good position, close enough to walk into Knaresborough which is a lovely little town.

Lovely location.

This was our third visit to this site ,from November last year! So ,as you can gather ,we love it! Very friendly staff and helpful ,welcome you ,to a very peaceful site, with the bunnies as an extra! Very cute, turn the tv off and watch them instead! Great for walking into Knarsborough ,via the gorge and not far from Harrogate. We have'nt visited the Bistro yet ,but we love the Guy Fawkes inn. Only two downers ,caused by members ,dog poo not cleared up ,on the grass and caravan waiting to arrive at 11.30 am ,as we were leaving!! 1 PM ARRIVAL TIME!! There was a queue one day!!at 12.30!! Its in the handbook and your confirmation. We only just managed to get past ,as we left. We will return again soon, thanks for a great stay.

Lovely site.

We had a 5 night break here recently and couldn't fault it. Bus stop right outside into Knaresborough, about every 2 hours, so not that frequent, although along the road, through the Gorge there is a lovely walk along the river into town. Knaresborough itself has everything you need, shops, pubs, restaurants, etc and you can take a rowing boat out on the river. Trains will take you to York, or Leeds at a reasonable rate (buy your ticket on the train itself and ask for a `duo ticket` where you get the second ticket at half price!) The site itself is well laid out, the pitches are spacious and everything is clean and tidy. But please, Caravan Club, get rid of those stupid stools in the showers - they are too low to sit on and slide about all over the place! Maybe less privacy cubicles and more showers would be ideal. As to the farm noise, at the time of our visit, I believe the tractor was trying to get the harvest in before the heavy rain but it didn't bother us at all. All in all a lovely site, and we would certainly go again!

Bar and Bistro

What a delightful site with wonderful staff and spotless facilities.  The site is ideally placed for visiting numerous places and attractions in the area.  It is easy to find, well laid out and very well organised.  The Bar and Bistro are a great idea and it is a shame more club sites don't have such facilities.  The beer and the food were first class and good value for money.  There was no noise and everything was spot on. There are very limited facilities in the children's play are for anyone with children but that did not affect us. There was plenty of children on site and they did not seem to have a problem. My only criticism is that we pitched near to the lane that runs down the side of the site and this was very busy with farm traffic but this was probably just the time of year.  The tractors and vehicles do seem to go at a pace and make quite a bit of noise and dust.  Something that cannot be avoided I guess. Another thing I noticed was delivery vans and wagons delivering to the site do not seem to take any notice of the ramps and the 5 mph limit - they should be told and this is not just a problem on this site. All in all a great site and we will definitely visit again when we return to North Yorkshire.

A Nice Site!

We stayed here over the bank holiday weekend earlier in the year. We stayed on the grass pitches at the top of the site. I personally think this is better for families as its near the 'play area' and fields. We enjoyed our stay and the site was clean and tidy. Will return at some point.

Amazing location all round excellent facilities

Loved this site. Really well organized and great facilities with onsite restaurant. Friendly helpful wardens. We stayed on a really hot weekend and our fridge went all temperamental! No problem borrowing ice packs to keep things cool. Great children's play area and place for ball games away from pitches. Brilliant walks into Knaresborough and fantastic for dogs.Reviews had complaints about a generator and farm noise! Your in the country! Our pitch was a grass pitch near the farm track, it didn't impact us at all. Well worth a visit and we'll definitely be returning.

Excellent site

My wife and I stayed 2 nights booked just the day before in the middle of August when the site was full. I really cannot understand any of the negative comments posted in some reviews. This site is a very well-run gem! Goodness knows what some people expect; we're  caravanning/motorhoming not staying at the Ritz! Many thanks to all the hard-working staff who make this one of the best CC sites! I wouldn't hesitate to recommend to anyone.

Buck Up Caravan Club

The CC is resting on its laurels here. It relies on hardworking, friendly wardens to manage a very nice site - and they do work hard. You can't make a silk purse out of a sows ear though and this is one club site desperate for a revamp. It isn't cheap, so there should be more than enough revenue coming in to fund an upgrade. The toilet block facilities are tired to say the least and overrun relative to the number of pitches. The wardens run the office until 10.30am, then make the best of the toilet block until 12pm before presumably grabbing a sandwich before the onslaught of arrivals at 1pm (or earlier for those who either can't read or choose to ignore the arrival time). All in all, a lovely site in a nice part of gods own county, but come on CC - start earning your membership subs and overpriced pitch fees.

Two weeks in August

Tongue OutI was here for two weeks at the start of the school Hollidays, we arrived just after 1pm as stated on the web site and had no issues with booking in, I would go as far as to say the wardens there should be training the rest on them, the site was always clean and tidy, we could only just hear the farmers generator from our pitch 44' so that wasn't a issue, the play park could do with up dating as its a little small and old but the kids still enjoyed it, the toilet block was always clean (male) my wife did say the lady's was not very good but I'm guessing this was just due to some people that were there when we were there, the bistro food was great and the Sunday roast wast great, the toilet block could de with a refurb as its looking a bit dated compared with some of the other sites, there needs to be a door hook on the washing up room door as its way to hot in there, also the club could save some money by turning the hot water temp down a bit as its way to hot to the point it will burn you, the site is located well to explor the area and is only 30 mins from York, will I be going back? May be but the site is a little small for us with 3 kids they like a bigger play area, but over all it's a great little site and don't be put off by some of the comments on here, the wardens made this Holliday for me with there common sence approach to their management of the site it make a welcome change and other wardens could take do with adopting some of their ways of working

GF food!!!

We found the warden to be very cheerful & welcoming on arrival. The 1pm arrival time was clearly stated in CC info so was not a problem for us. We were pleasantly suprised by the bistro & had an excellent Sunday roast which was made gluten free for one of us who has coeliac disease. The chef was helpful and knowledgeable about this. They also had GF syrup sponge which looked delicious (it wasn't shared!). There is some generator noise from the farm adjacent, but this doesn't go on for too long & wasn't a problem for us. The toilet block was well cleaned each day but unfortunately some people who were staying at the time don't seem to clean up after themselves so by the morning the facilities were not as nice as they could have been. We used the laundry facilites too, which were very clean & in good order. As others have mentioned, the play area is not particularly well equipped & definitely needs an upgrade. We would return to stay here again.
