Lovely

Lovely site this we have been before. Clean and well positioned for walks round and about. Nice walk to sizergh. Good walk to local pub which has a lovely beer garden to sit in. Only negative we found this time was that a few pitches we fancied going into had reserved signs on them. Didn't think you could reserve pitches????

Good site providing you don't mind being under trees

We found this site peaceful clean and well run I only give generally 4 stars as all the pitches are under trees and as you are in the lakes you will most likely have some rainy days -- We don't like noisy nights with rain drip drip dripping on the caravan roof all night -- As for the children this site is big and I would keep young ones on a very tight rein

Lovely Location

Beautifully site, large but well spaced out in the trees. Good location for exploring and walking. Facilities adequate and clean

Lovely bank holiday stay

Considering site was very busy due to bank holiday we managed to find a lovely quiet spot to relax in. The wardens are friendly and very helpful and they advised us on a lovely quiet pitch as this was our first visit. There are plenty of nice flat walks to do from site especially walk along disused canal to Kendal which took us approx 1hr 1/2 to 2hrs whilst admiring scenery. Site was kept spotlessly clean and tidy and so were the toilet blocks. We have have already rebooked to come back again.

Woodland Caravanning at its best

We have been to Kendal Club Site in the late Autumn last year and again in May this year. It never fails to please. If you want peace and quiet this is the site for you. If you want to feel like you are wild camping in a woodland glade, with a stream trickling past your door and every conceivable bird you can imagine, singing in the trees, this is the place. Go out of school holiday season and it is virtually an adults only site. There are playgrounds for children and of course, the woods to explore, but it feels more like an adult place. The average age when we have visited seems to be somewhere in the mid to late 50's, but that is only our perception. We will return time and time again to this wonderful site. So if you haven't booked yet, give it a try, you won't be disappointed.

Wonderful site - and not a mention of mint cake.

First visit to the Kendal site and having read the previous reports, I agree totally with thier descriptions of the site. We'd looked at the locality and saw little to do within a mile or two (as most motorhomers don't take a car, so it's a walk or the daily bus, perhaps), but as we were only staying a couple of nights - on the way to Coniston CC - we relied on other members' reviews. Excellent site, showers OK, but getting tatty; wardens friendly, helpful and in short supply, it seems. The site history is very interesting and considering how gunpowder was needed and created, used, etc, it all seems to make sense. Lots of nice walks, wild flowers, birds, the River Kent, etc - a fantastic spot. I took 800 photos in one afternoon and a full day, thank heaven I wasn't using films. Mention Kendal to anyone and they think (or say) 'mint cake'. Fortunately, this isn't in Kendal. Definitely be back for longer. Wish we'd driven round Coniston, then come back to this site for the whole stay.

What a return to caravanning!

Returning to caravanning after a 20 year break, we were a bit nervous to say the least. My last van was basically a box with a bed, my latest one had all sorts of buttons, switches, pumps, bottles leads etc. So I survived the towing experience and arrived at the beautiful Kendal site. From the moment we arrived, the wardens were fantastic, they simply could not have been more helpful, taking time out to make sure we knew how to set up correctly. It was a great return to caravanning, they really set us on our way. I only hope the other sites we visit will match what we experienced at Kendal!

Beautiful little haven set in woodlands.

A lovely site hidden away in woodlands, large pitches and very quiet, wonderful walks in the woods where we were startled by a deer and her baby, gazing at us just feet away. Sizberg Castle a walk away and lovely farm and craft shop, all worth visiting. Definitely a place to return to, the wardens are very welcoming and friendly.

Beautiful woodland flowers

Our first visit to the site, we stayed for 2 days. We were lucky to time our visit with blue skies and a stunning display of bluebells and wild garlic in the woods. It seemed as though the winter flooding had caused some damage to the riverside walkways, but there were plenty of lovely walks through the woods. Very peaceful and Sizergh Castle (National Trust) is walking distance. Very friendly and helpful wardens :-)
