Excellent site

The site was very clean with helpful staff. The site is situated just off the dual carriageway so access is easy, just a narrow track to negotiate, which is flat, near the end. There is a mobile chip shop which comes round on Fridays. The Strickland Arms is 5mins away in a car; it serves four cask beers and the food is very good. This gives very easy access to the southern lakes and Morecambe Bay area.

Quiet and well kept

As first time caravaners we were very delighted with the facilities at this site. Shower and toilet block imaculate. Although busy the site was very quiet due the positioning of the caravans. Lovely ladies on reception, helpful and patient with us.  Helpful hint.... Buy earplugs if you park your van under a tree in the rain!! We will however be back as there was so much to explore in the area. 5 stars from us ??

ItwasOK

A word of caution if you are to eat at the local pub. CC members get a cheap menu, even though, when we booked and a note was made in the booking book, we were not shown the cheap menu and as it was our first visit were none the wiser. It can be a wee bit expensive, certainly not the £12.95 for 2 courses on the CC members menu. If you do want to use the CC menu make sure you ask for it before you order. On the upside the wardens were all very friendly and helpful. Our pitch was very shaded which for sun lovers was a shame, but as it was only for a couple of nights it served the purpose.

Wonderful

The small pitching areas among the trees make this site special.  There has been a lot of coppicing work and a several pitches are now much lighter.  Shower blocks are good, clean and as expected for a good club site.  Recommend it. Lakes are currently very quiet after their bad winter but things are now well on the way back to normal.  There are odd places still undergoing work but nothing that affects enjoyment for visitors.  The main road from Grasmere to Keswick is open and empty.  No one seems to have noticed.  Full of admiration for what has been done. Enjoy!

Nature at its best

Stayed overnight here in mid-June and -despite the typical British weather - really enjoyed what the site has to offer. Lovely woodland walks alongside a fast flowing river with its own little rapids. Beautifully laid out pitches with lots of personal space; excellent toilet block and very welcoming wardens - we will definitely return!

A great weekend!

We only managed a weekend this time, but, as last time, the staff were always very pleasant and helpful. Site was spotless, as usual, and we spent quite a long time by the river. We are only an hour away, so it's great for us. Having just read about the couple who wanted to stay for a few extra hours. Other sites we have been on let you stay until 5pm for a extra £5, providing they have the space. Perhaps this site could have a think about this.

Another excellent stay!

As i live only 15 mins from M6 Jn27 and this site is 10 mins from M6 Jn36, it's the ideal bolt-hole for a relaxing break from it all. This site never disappoints. Spotlessly clean, excellent, kind and helpful Wardens and staff, i can't recommend this site highly enough. I do wish though that arrivals adhered to the arrival time of no earlier than 1pm though. The approach road is narrow with few passing places so when you're leaving and come across a motorhome and car+caravan together, things get 'interesting'...

PERFECT - APART FROM THE LAST DAY !!

We could not fault this site at all absolutely beautiful, well maintained and so so peaceful.BUT ! after enjoying 13 nights on the site and spending just short of £365.00 we asked if on our last day could we possibly stay for a few extra hours and leave at about 3pm (this was a Sunday)we were basically told that "if we stayed the extra 3 hours we would have to pay for one more night !!! and we could not leave the site until 6pm because of 'the road', everyone has to leave by 12 and no one is allowed to arrive before 1pm and during that time 1-6 only traffic coming to the site is allowed".  We were very disappointed as we had to be home by 5 so we had no choice but to pack up and leave by 12.  This is when we became quite annoyed as as we were driving off the site 2 caravaners were in the office checking in and and we passed 2 further caravans on 'the road' on their way in to the site !!! Maybe the rules need to be adhered to by all or maybe a little flexibility would be an option.  'The Road' in question is certainly not the narrowest we have driven on and has many passing places.
