Beautifully laid out site with all pitches under trees. The site has numerous little cul de sacs to choose from with about 5-6 pitches in each cul de sac. So quiet with a river running at the bottom of the site. We stayed for only one night on our way home but wished we had booked for longer. A farm shop within a mile or so, Kendal is £10 by taxi each way. Facilities were excellent as so well kept by the wardens. Really enjoyed Kendal.
Picturesque and peaceful
If your looking for a quiet, pretty site near to amenities then here it is. This was our first visit and we found the site outstanding. The wild garlic was out and the pitches were surrounded in white flowers. Yes there was a pungent smell in the air but it didn't spoil anything. There is a river running along the bottom of the site and loads of buildings that used to be used in the making of gun powder. There are a lot of pitches near to the river but they were all cordoned off which I thought strange. We later found out that these were kept free for weekenders, single nights and large outfits but the warden's did start allowing people to pitch on them. Really annoying when you arrive before them and would have liked one of those pitches as you were staying for 3 nights. Saying that we did find our perfect pitch and would stay on that specific one again if we could. The wardens are really helpful and friendly and the onsite shop has some good provisions. Afternoon tea for 2 for £4.00 with 2 scones, clotted cream and preserves was an absolute bargain. The shop also sell a selection of walks for the area leaving from the campsite. We did 2 of them, one through the Deer Park and one up to the Helm. A great site with an abundance of things to do in the local area.
location
excellent site tucked away in an idyllic place close enough to walk into kendal and perfect for days out in the lakes very peaceful site and not too many vans in one area Wardens on site were very helpful.we were taken round the site on a little electric golf buggy shown each available pitch so we could decide where to pitch
Could be the perfect woodland site
If your idea of the perfect site is a wooded site this is the one for you. Unfortunately whilst I have been visiting this site for many years it has reached the stage where there are very few pitches available which are not under a canopy of trees & I believe that the site would benefit from more careful thinning out of the foliage allowing more light in. If this were to happen it would be a perfect peaceful location out of peak periods close enough to the attractions of the southern lakes.
Tranquil
Peaceful site, we'll run, staff were a credit to the club nothing was too much trouble. Lovely riverside setting and lots of different areas. Just the birds and wildlife you could hear a pin drop excellent for dogs.
Love this site
Great for dogs and kids ,we have been several times over the years but this was a Ist in half term we stayed a week and had our grandsons for 3days 8&10 staying on camp and 5 year old day visiter they all loved it and although the site was vbusy it is so spacious not to feel cramped and the wardens were so friendly and made time for the children when they visited the shop .

A big thank you!
We want to thank the wardens, relief wardens & all the staff at this site for their help & assistance after we limped into the site last Monday 6th June after our unfortunate accident on the M6. We had no booking here but after an ordeal trying to get roadside recovery, we managed to get the damaged outfit (car & caravan) to the site. We were badly shaken but safe. They helped us unhitch the now jammed hitch/towball & then onto a pitch (126). Also let us use the office phone & gave general help & advice. We did use the facilities & they were clean & well looked after. It looked a lovely site but sadly we weren't able to enjoy it. Hopefully the caravan is being recovered from site as I type. Thank you all again.
Great location with lots to do
We stayed at the Kendal site for three nights during May half term. The wardens were very friendly and helpful as always. As it was busy they organised the arrivals really well. Even though the site was full the layout and pitch sizes meant that it didn't feel that way. Can't recommend this site enough whether you want peace and quiet on site or to use it as a base for exploring the Lakes.

Decent stop over near the M6
We arrived late and stayed in the late night arrivals area on the way up to Scotland. The site seemed nicely laid out and was peaceful next to a running stream. If your travelling up North and after a handy stop over not far off the motorway, Kendal is ideal. Do no expect a friendly Welcome & Hello from the wardens, which is a shame as this let the site down.
