Excellent Site

What an excellent site, with very interesting and explosive history! The Wardens and staff were incredibly helpful and nice. On Fridays there is a Fish and Chip van on site up until 8pm that serves Fish and Chips for 6 pounds. A little expensive but it saves cooking. The location of the site is ideal- only a few minutes from Junction 36 of the M6. I'd highly recommend this site, and i will definitely visit again.

Fabulous site, great location.

Just returned from our first short break at Kendal...it definitely won't be our last!  The site is stunning, one of the best on the network in our opinion, and full of character. The pitches are all over the place, in little cul-de-sacs and nooks and crannies, giving the site a feeling of being much smaller and cosier than its size.  The river alongside the site is beautiful and the various walks from the site are all excellent for families. We loved it so much that the first thing we've done upon returning home is book for another stay!

Well earned rest

We arrived onsite at the end of the Easter holidays, we look after children at an out of school club and a holiday club through the hols. From the moment we dropped the steadies to the time we left 3 days later it was peace and tranquility. The smell of the wild garlic after the rain, the gentle rush of the river the friendly staff all made our break perfect. Will definitely return.

Great location

A delightful and peaceful woodland site as mentioned in every review, so I thought I would write about the excellent places nearby.  It is only a 20 minute walk to a very good dog friendly pub, or  a National Trust property and gardens, or a dairy farm with tea room selling local produce and crafts.  The pub serves a meal deal menu for the caravan club and talking of food  a mobile fish and chip van is on site on Friday nights - absolutely delicious!

Another great stay

Once again we stayed at this site and it is quickly becoming our favourite. Stunning location and the staff are helpful and friendly.  The site is spotlessly clean and well maintained. It is unbelievable to think that many of the pitches were swept away in the floods.  Our granddaughter loves this site and enjoys the activity books given to her by the Rangers. There is nothing negative to say at about this place and we will be back.

Flippin' Great

Last site we stayed at in 2015 and the first in 2016. What's not to love about it? The wardens are without doubt the best we've encountered on any CC site to date- friendly, good for a chat and all with a brilliant sense of humour. They work damned hard too so as to keep the site up to scratch which they do with flying colours. Toilet/shower blocks are spotless. We had an issue over the Easter weekend with power which was due to a spike from the local sub-station but they were on it quickly and had a temporary repair in place as soon as could be expected. The main problem was that it was quite cold and wet and some selfish caravanners insisted on using their electric kettles/awning heaters/whatever they'd brought from home electrically which overloaded the temporary repair repeatedly. Do you really need a multi-coloured flashing light pole on your caravan to enhance your enjoyment of a woodland park site? Someone obviously did. Please take a look at the article in this months club magazine re: mains supply and how to calculate the load you are putting on it. This way there's enough lecky for everyone. Apart from that, the walks from the site are breathtaking- in more ways than one. The view from the top of the Helm is fantastic as is the one from the highest point of the Sizergh Castle walk. Also Ingleton Falls is only 30 minutes away into the Dales- stunning waterfalls. The people in the area we found very friendly and helpful too which we thought was a refreshing change. Why go abroad when there's a stunning place at home like The Lake District? Keswick is such a picturesque town with Skiddaw in the background- still snow on the top when we were there. We will be returning- if only for the walks and a bit of banter with the wardens.

Excellent

We have now stayed there a few times and always met with cheerful and helpful wardens who we think on this site help to make it a great venue.

Lovely site

We arrived here on a Friday night for a one night stopover on our way to a wedding in Scotland and received a very warm welcome from the staff at reception, they could not have been more helpful offering us a choice of pitch, we opted for one further into the site which was very peaceful, just what we wanted. The site has a visit from a Fish & Chip van every Friday so we took advantage saving us cooking that night, very nice indeed fresh fish and well cooked. Facilities were spotless and well maintained with plenty of walks close by. The site which is set in the woods had lovely daffodils springing up all over the place showing the first real signs of Spring was coming. We will be back again later in the year for another stay without doubt.
