A week of relaxation...simplified.

I have been visiting this quiet site for more than 40years.I spent a week here from 4th to the 11th of May'16 on pitch 86 my favourite spot on the site. The site was quiet and the trees just coming into leaf. The recent timber works have made a tremendous difference as there is now more light and openness to the ground enabling aconites violets bluebells and daffodils to flourish profusely. The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable about the area and very happy to provide further information in the information centre for days out to nearby attractions. The onsite shop in the Reception area has a reasonable supply of essentials for sale at reasonable prices, papers are available to order, and a limited supply of caravan essentials are also to be had. I shall be back later in the year,as it is only 3hrs.30mins from my home in Falkirk.

Naturally beautiful!

We booked this site at the last minute on a bank holiday weekend - we had previously booked into a CL site but it was so waterlogged we couldn't stay. The wardens couldn't have been more helpful when we rang to book, our caravan is long and the warden went out to physically check if they had a pitch we could fit on, he rang us back and placed a cone on the pitch to save it for us. We were so glad we had 'accidentally' come across this site! It's so peaceful and quiet, pitches are well spaced in natural surroundings and there are lots of lovely walks just off site. Kendal is a short drive away and we enjoyed the shops and restaurants there. This site is a great base to explore the lake district -the facilities are immaculate and the wardens couldn't have been more helpful. We liked the fact that the site is created amongst the old gunpowder works which are strangely picturesque! We stayed for four nights, could have happily stayed for more and will be back.

A Lovely Site

A beautiful site with caravans and motorhomes set out in small glades. Wonderful walks from the site for people and dogs. The facilities are first class and the wardens are so helpful and friendly. My only concern was the lack of temperatures for the programmes on the washing machines and the tumble dryer took too long drying a small load. This is a wonderful site to which we will definitely return.

2nd Visit to a great site!

Lovely site, away from it all, peace and quiet and spotless facilities. Very friendly wardens who greet you with a smile, such a pleasure to visit a superbly well run site in beautiful surroundings. Thank you !

Lovely site in rural setting close to M6

Although this is a large site it doesn't feel like it because it is divided up into lots of small areas by hedges and trees. Although it is only a few miles from the M6 the site is in a very rural setting. We found the wardens to be very friendly and helpful. There is a large woodland area accessible from the site which is great for exercising dogs. There are also lots of lovely walks from the site. There is an excellent dog friendly pub, The Strickland Arms, in the nearby village of Sizergh. We will definitely be visiting again.

Gunpowder Plot?

Had a lovely, peaceful weekend here only an hour from home. The staff were friendly and helpful and gave us a good pitch. Some pitches are quite small, others large so choose carefully if, like us, you have a 7.5 metre outfit. Plenty of pleasant walks by the river and not far from Kendal and the south Lakes. The site is at an historic gunpowder factory so lots to see for history lovers.

Overnight stop

We had a very comfortable overnight here on our way south. Sadly our initial impression was tainted when we arrived in the rain to be greeted by the warden from her caravan, her first words were "do yo have your membership card?", she was reluctant to make a move to assist us. Apart from this shaky start we had a good stay and would not be put off staying again.

Fantastic site

Fantastic site,  we booked this site for our first get away of the season as it's only an hour away from us, but we enjoyed it so much we have rebooked  again in June and have decided to use this site as our weekend getaway in between the main holidays. I would recommend  The site and its facilities to anyone who is looking for a nice quiet holiday. Five stars  to the staff as they are so friendly and helpful. Mr Kevin Evenson
