Not very family orientated

We were looking for a lazy weekend where we wouldn't have to seek out extra entertainment or do much. Sadly this wasn't the case, the play park is a bit naff to say the least. The club Wi-Fi was next to useless and tv reception is terrible (even when we plugged into the site aerial). I know it the lakes but it really was appalling. We paid for a serviced pitch and I wish we hadn't bothered. The tap is further away than a length of standard hose (the people next to us just about got theirs to fit but it was taught. They went a bought another length the following day), same thing again for brown water. So I ended up dragging stuff about, which is a bit annoying when you've paid extra not to. The pitch itself wasn't great either, I ended up borrowing a load of levelling blocks. Result was that it took ages to get setup. Not great with 2 small hungry kids. Confusing signpost on away in almost sent us up the wrong road. It's narrow so that could have been a nightmare. On a positive note the information room is good so we were able to find something to do away from the site.

If you are coming to the lakes find another site

I joined the Caravan club in 1977, apart from a break of a couple of years when my wife died I have been a member. I can honestly say in all that time this is the worst club site I have been on. We arrived on Saturday to break the journey to Wales after having a lovely holiday in North Northumberland, we arrived at reception and after paying for the two nights I require were told to find a pitch and come back and tell them where we were, as it was Saturday numerous other caravanners were trying to do the same on very narrow roads and small clearings, as a consequence there was total gridlock and I could not even get through the barrier because everybody was backed up, apart from the lady in reception there was NO sign of any staff to sort out the situation. I had booked and paid the extra for a fully serviced pitch, when I got to a pitch is was obvious that the pitch maintenance bu the site staff was none existent and it showed. I had to get down on my hands and knees, put on a pair of gloves and clear out the pitch drain which was full of debris consisting of stones, twigs, and leaves and even after my efforts it still did not drain properly, as it is in a wood it is necessary to use the TV service point on the pitch, I had to search for mine because it was covered with foliage which I cut back in order to use the point. If I had seen this site before booking it I would have gone elsewhere, the only sight I caught of a member of staff on my stay, other than the receptionist was one running round in an electric buggy. This site put a damper on what was otherwise a great holiday in Northumberland and I will never use this site again.

Gem of a site

We arrived on Sunday 11/06/2017, earlier than I should have my fault as it did not read the arrival times of 13.00hrs this is to allow all vans leaving to clear the very narrow entrance lane at 12.00 hrs. The staff could not have been nicer as they said as I had negotiated the lane safely they would book me in. We booked a serviced pitch which was great although you do need a long hose for both water and waste. Having originally only booking for a week we stayed for a further four days as the site is so relaxed and quiet. I enquired re the Club policy regarding Drones as during the weekend a lad flow and landed one between my van and the next van, I shudder to think what would have happened had that hit a van. Then again a young girl was playing with a very small one later in the week. I spoke to Zoe who is only in her first year as a Warden, well quite frankly some of the long established Wardens need to work with her as her manner is very laid back and friendly she always has time to speak. None of this I am the Warden and I don't speak to the punters, she is a credit to the Club. Zoe went away and checked for me and said that there was something written down but she would find it and get back to me. She did say that I should have reported it to them when it happed and they would have had a word. My feeling was that had I had something written down as a policy i.e. in the Handbook I would have spoken to the parents and reminded them of the Club policy. All in all this is our third time at Kendal Caravan Park and will be back a gain soon. Keep up the good work team. Mike & Eileen Ellams.

Great Weekend break

Will be back. We arrived on Friday mid-afternoon Wardens very friendly and helpful. Bit of a task to actually find a pitch but on the 2nd time around we found one in a great spot. ( Nice and big pitch). Toilet and Washroom facilities I expect where very clean a few minutes after being cleaned. But we have some very dirty members that cant be bothered to leave them clean after they use them. Pitches are set within little glades throughout the site with single or up to 10 units in each . Lots of tree cover. Excellent Fish and Chips Van on Friday nights .... watch out there is a big Q but worth the wait. Some great walks along the river if you have a dog. We visited Kendal on Saturday great place for shopping and watching the world go by while having a Coffee/Beers or Wine in the many establishments. Will be back soon its a little gem.

Wonderful stay

Returned from a bank holiday stay at Kendal Club site. It was our first visit and we were impressed. Yes, it is in woods and there are a lot of trees but those trees offered great shade from the very hot sun. The site is very large but doesn't feel it due to the way pitches are in little clusters. Staff were very friendly and helpful - playing with our baby etc. Toilet and showers were very clean etc, although if I had to pass some constructive criticism only 2 toilet blocks for a site so spread out surprised me. It wasn't a problem for us however. There was no chance of a satellite lock due to the trees but there was a connection provided for freeview. Again, not a problem for us. The information room is one of the best I have seen with great range of information and even a DVD library. Nice fish & chips on the Friday evening from the van too! We walked along the river to Kendal (about 3.5 miles) and it was an easy walk.

Great site and friendly staff

We have just returned from a 2 night short break. The site is set in beautiful woodland, with superb facilities and really friendly helpful staff. Some of the pitches do require a chock to level your van, but this is no problem. It is extremely peaceful and even in just two nights we felt like we had been away ages and felt really refreshed. The walk through to Kendal is approximately 5 miles and takes around 1 hour 20 minutes. It is well worth it though as it is through lovely countryside, along the river bank and the old canal towpath. The views are stunning. The short walk to the Strickland Arms is also well worth it,the food and ambience are both worth the short walk. The staff are really informative about the surrounding area and there is a great information room, which contains all the information you could possibly need during your stay. There are maps and guides for sale in the office and only cost a small donation to the local air ambulance charity. It's a great site and we will absolutely return.

worst experience

This was the worst caravan site I have been on. No organisation on arrival wardens didn't know what pitches were available. Those that were pointed out too us were already taken. Expected to drive round and round aimlessly while they sat in office. One warden was very rude. Will spend my money elsewhere as this was definitely my worst nightmare. Don't waste your money

Superb site with immaculate facilities

We have just returned from 5 nights at Kendal club site. The site is so quiet and peaceful, we didn't want to leave at the end of our stay! Fabulous location in the heart of a lovely wooded area with lovely walks from the site. The busy local hostellerie, The Strictland Arms, was a great discovery during our stay, providing delicious food and a pleasant rustic ambiance. The local Low Sizergh Barn farm shop and cafe was lovely for a light lunch and the all too important souvenirs to take home! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and the site and facilities are second to none. The shower and toilet block were always spotless and the wardens were pleasant and helpful, always happy to answer any questions and provide us with local information. The site is in an excellent location to explore the southern Lake District with easy drives to some stunning scenery and lovely towns and villages. All in all we had a thoroughly enjoyable stay at this truly lovely site. We will certainly have Kendal site on our list of places to return to, hopefully in the not too distant future!

Great site

Just returned from 3 nights stay on Kendal club site, what a fantastic site set in beautiful landscaped area, have to say how friendly and helpful all the wardens were and what a bonus having the chippy van on Friday night, not to far to walk to the Strickland arms takes about 20 minutes, will definitely return again
