Forest site

This is an excellent site if you like tranquillity and small intimate nooks to park in. Pitches are dotted in forest glades, hard standing and a mix of Awning & non awnings. Good facilities. Tv booster. Best Information office in the network. Seizberg Castle (NT) and Farm shop very close wth nice walks.

Ideal for Lake Disctrict and Yorkshire Dales

We visited at the beginning of October for the third time and enjoyed it as much as ever. The site is ideally situated - not far from the motorway, but far enough away it and the main roads not to be able to hear them. At this time of year there are plenty of camping spots to choose from, and we were lucky enough to have a secluded spot all to ourselves for our 9 day stay. The wardens were very friendly and the toilet blocks were always clean and tidy. The Yorkshire Dales are virtually on the doorstep, and the Cumbrian coast doesn't take that long to get to if you want a change from the lakes.

Tranquil

First time to this site and was very pleasantly surprised. Very wooded but very quiet, away from the main road so there's no traffic noise. Site is set out on different levels in small areas so feels smaller than it is, beautiful walks from the site in any direction with some amazing views and beautiful waterfalls and river. Dogs loved it here. Toilet blocks exceptionally clean, because site is a little muddy in places could do with a door mat as you go in,also I found crossing the little bridge at night on the lower block a bit daunting could use another light or two nearer to it. My only gripe is that people don't adhere to the 5 mile per hour when travelling around the site☹️Would definitely come back here. 😀

Excellent Club site

Quiet site down short single track road with passing places. Would have been no problem for our large motorhome but for the fact that just as we had turned into the lane we met a caravan leaving after the 1pm deadline so had to reverse, as did the vehicles behind us. Set in woodland on the site of a ruined gunpowder factory of which you can take a guided tour. Pitches gravel and level with electric and TV booster hook up. Late arrivals overnight area has electric hookup. There are two blocks of toilets with showers and laundry and dish washing facilities at both. All were spotless. Large receiption and shop which sells milk and a few other essentials plus fresh bread daily. Also able to order newspapers. Fish and chip van visits on a friday evening. Staff v friendly and helpful. Bus stop 200yds from the roundabout at top of road. The 555 gets to Kendal in less than 10 mins.

A Lakeland gem

This is our third visit to the site. If you're looking for a woodland location with peace and quiet, located close to all major attractions, this is the site for you. I must congratulate the team of rangers, the site was kept clean all day every day. Although weather could have been better ( we were there start of sept, and it is in the U.K. Not Spain) we had a great time. Plenty of walks for the dogs both on and off site. There is a farm shop about 20 min walk away were you can get fruit, veg, meat and great home made cakes, you can even watch the cows being milked if you time it right. Won't be our last visit to this wee gem.

Pleasant surprise

After reading one or two downbeat reviews we were pleasantly surprised by how nice this site is. There are a LOT of trees which can make it feel gloomy when it rains but most of the pitches are scattered in small bays so it doesn't feel crowded or like a housing estate, which some sites do. There have been comments about the approach road but it really isn't bad at all, not particularly narrow, plenty of passing places, just one or two pot holes which have been reported to highways. The wardens were lovely and very helpful, giving us plenty of advice about the area. There's a great information room with stuff for the children too, although our grandchildren didn't think much of the play area which is a bit limited - a lot of the kids were cycling and scooting along the roads - maybe this site isn't so suitable for younger children. We only had a couple of nights but would certainly return to explore more of the locality and do some more walks.

A First Time Visit

What a great site. When I first arrived staff were brilliant and helpful. The facilities were lovely and clean, the pitches are scattered among the trees giving a lovely perception of peace and quiet. As a photographer I found lots of places to go and capture some great images of local wildlife. All in all one of the best sites I have ever visited and one I will return too soon.

Very poor access road to site

Hi Usual high standards for a CAMC site, but...... The access road to the site is very narrow. You may meet large motorhomes on this access road as you arrive. Members are allowed to check in before the allotted time, so members queue on the access road as members leave the site. The roads on the site are single track and since the cul-de-sacs for pitches are sometimes very small, it is best to park on the single track roads and check the suitability of the pitch before entering the cul-de-sac. This review is by a first time user of the site. If you are familiar with all the pitches, you may be able to go directly to a suitable pitch.

Nice site but...

This is a lovely site set in some beautiful woods. The only downside that I can write about is that the Internet site for this campsite says that the TV reception is poor, so we didn't take our television only to find that there are TV points next to the electric hookups. I found that the WI-Fi was next to useless as it constantly dropped the connection, this was after paying for a connection, at the prices that the club charge the Internet should be free. I can't fault the facilities or the wardens on site all are OK. The only other gripe that I have is that there needs to be signage for the exit off the site as it is possible to go round in circles looking for a way out.
