We have used this site a few times as it's around an hour away from home. Our recent visit at Easter began with, as always, an enthusiastic greeting from the very friendly wardens who were quick to get us checked in. The site is well managed, well maintained and certainly worth a look. I love it here, give it a try!
Kendal Club Site - Amazing site
We returned this week from an Easter Break at the Kendal Club site, nr Sedgwick - the site is in a great location with great access to the local countryside and amenities without the need for your car! We only used the car twice across the whole weekend for very short drives and to avoid general Easter traffic. The staff are excellent, they cannot do enough for you - they put on an Easter hunt for the kids - the site is great for Children, with access to rivers, playarea, woods, and also the Farm Shop/Café is only a short walk away through a gorgeous wood - good for walks with the dog! The disused canal is an interesting walk aswell and the Strickland Arms public house is only a short, nice walk away either by road or through woods. For a more strenuous walk, Sizergh Fell is close by with a good loop, including a coffee at the Sizergh castle café! Overall a very very clean site in gorgeous surroundings, full of bird song.
Well worth the money!
Fantastic site - we will be returning!
Thank you
Very helpful
As we have always had excellent times here we came with an air awning to set up for the week . Having never used an air awning before we were a little perplexed as to how to put it up with no instruction !
So I asked the wardens if they could help, they were only too happy to lend a hand and thanks to Graham and Marcus we had the most wonderful time with the grandchildren and an extra room !! Very helpful thank you
Great stay
Weekend trip to try out our new van, really like this site, only 45 mins away from home and easily accessible. Really enjoy the local walks and the site set up with its small alcove sections to give that extra privacy. Would be nice to have a bit of grass in between the pitches but they are nice and spacious. Facilities are great and nice and clean. Always a site we will return to. The Strickland Arms is a nice short walk away which is dog friendly and does great food.

Excellent in all ways
We arrived on 15 April and received a warm welcome at the well organised Reception. We were able to take an excellent pitch within easy walking of the ablutions. I have never seen such clean and well appointed loos and showers - they were spotless and the showers piping hot. The shop was well stocked and we enjoyed ice cold Coke and a couple of Magnums. The whole extensive site was well maintained.
The site is located on an old Gunpowder works which adds colour to the place. There are guided tours by the National Trust as well as a handy guide which can be borrowed (50p) from Reception.
Kendal is but 30 mins away by bike and there are great walks to Sizergh Castle and Levens Hall. The Farm Shop and Cafe linked to Sizergh is a particular treat.
At £30 a night this was not cheap but you get the quality you pay for.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Our first Member stay
Well, my boys and I will definitely be making a return stay
From our arrival and to saying goodbye the wardens were absolutely amazing
As our first stay we were helped to pitch and two fellow caravaners whom had previously stayed came to help us erect our awning
As the hard standing pitch needed steel pegs - we were able to buy these from reception
The shower and w/c blocks are immaculate as they are cleaned each day
The boys loved the site , they rode their bikes around and happily played tennis and football
We visited the nearby farms and castle
The Strickland Arms is pricey but the food is amazing and well worth a visit - booking essential
I can’t praise the wardens enough - they work tirelessly and are super friendly and helpful
We will return and stay longer
Thank you for a wonderful week

Spring holiday
An attractive site set amongst the trees. We had a very good welcome and everything about the site was good. Next time we will find out more about the gunpowder mill.

Lovely site but not for young children
Well kept clean site but very hilly with not much to do. Hard surfaces and blind corners make it in suitable for young children. Play area very poor but toddler changing and bathing room very well kept.
Fantastic club site
We have visited this site on a number of occasions, and know well how lovely the situation is by the River Kent, in beautiful woodland - and close to the excellent Strickland Arms.
On our most recent visit, I encountered a post-service problem with our caravan; the workshop had replaced my perfectly good rubber washers on our water inlet pipe with washers that did not fit - and did not work, leaving us without water.
No problem to the excellent wardens who were on duty, who were able to calm my frayed nerves - and also able to supply correctly fitting washers. Really excellent service, over and above the call of duty - thank you very much
What has happened to this gorgeous site?
Kendal caravan club site was the first sight I ever visited when I joined the caravan club. Back then it was called Low Park Wood. I have always rated Kendal site as being my flagship site to visit. I would thoroughly recommend this site to anybody for the unique layout of the pitches, the overall tranquillity of the site and the fact that you have lovely local towns to visit nearby if you so wish. Unfortunately my latest visit to the site left me feeling rather disappointed with the overall general appearance of the area. When I have stayed at the site before in the autumn there were regular walkabouts by the wardens using leaf blowers to clear the paths and roads and they were continually ensuring that the water and waste disposal areas were cleaned clear of leaves and generally kept tidy. Alas this was not the case during my recent visit in October. Speaking to other caravan owners on the site they also agreed with me that the overall general appearance of the site had decreased somewhat. I was there for five days and at no point did I see anybody using a leaf blower to clear the roads. I found three different waste and water areas all blocked full of leaves, including the toilet waste disposal. I fully appreciate that this site is in the middle of a forest and you will undoubtedly get more leaves than you would normally, however I have been coming to the site for many years and have never once experienced this at Kendal. It was almost as if the Wardens had a “couldn’t be bothered” attitude. I sincerely hope that at the start of the new season in 2019 we see an improvement on the site as it is such a lovely environment.
