Wonderful site

We got a warm welcome and good weather, our pitch was ideal for accessing the dog walks and so we’ve just had a superb weekend at Kendal. We were on 36, this was an uneven pitch and a bit tricky to pitch on, my car was protesting at reversing up the slope so we unhitched and used the mover. The gravel was quite deep in places so the jockey wheel struggled a little while manoeuvring and we needed levelling ramps under a wheel and legs. Once sited we were very happy, our section had 4 pitches apart from ours, very quiet with some sun and shade. Facilities were spotless, and the WiFi signal very good. Access to the site is a little tricky but shouldn’t be an issue if the arrive and leave times are adhered to, not far from the m6 this is a good base to explore the lakes, and Kendal is only 10 minutes away for shops.

There are a few walks from the site through woods and it’s safe to let dogs off the lead,

We will go again.

Really good site

This site is unusual in layout compared to most other CAMC sites in that it is situated in a wooded area with 5-6 pitches grouped together in copses. There is not much grass around (former explosive factory) and so all the pitches are hardstanding and not delineated by grass strips. Bring a club hammer if you are hoping to drive in pegs. Due to the dispersed layout, it doesn't feel as big as it is (has two shower blocks) and if you choose your pitch well then you'll not be disturbed by passing traffic. This is one of the most peaceful sites we visit and is one of the first 3 I book every year. The site is well maintained, the facilities are very clean and one is always open. There are some lovely walks from this site alongside a river - when the sun shines there is no better place IMHO! The only downside is the entry road which is narrow and the reason why they are so strict about arrival times .. do not attempt to get there before 1pm as you'll probably meet a caravan coming the other way

Very rude staff

i had an issue with my pitch and the staff were so rude, they were that rude I was very close to going home, it took me to tell them I was going to complain to the club directly for them to Try and resolve my issue. I would never go to this site again and the service even made me question my membership and future bookings.

A lovely place

We have used this site a few times as it's around an hour away from home. Our recent visit at Easter began with, as always, an enthusiastic greeting from the very friendly wardens who were quick to get us checked in. The site is well managed, well maintained and certainly worth a look. I love it here, give it a try!

Kendal Club Site - Amazing site

We returned this week from an Easter Break at the Kendal Club site, nr Sedgwick - the site is in a great location with great access to the local countryside and amenities without the need for your car! We only used the car twice across the whole weekend for very short drives and to avoid general Easter traffic. The staff are excellent, they cannot do enough for you - they put on an Easter hunt for the kids - the site is great for Children, with access to rivers, playarea, woods, and also the Farm Shop/Café is only a short walk away through a gorgeous wood - good for walks with the dog! The disused canal is an interesting walk aswell and the Strickland Arms public house is only a short, nice walk away either by road or through woods. For a more strenuous walk, Sizergh Fell is close by with a good loop, including a coffee at the Sizergh castle café! Overall a very very clean site in gorgeous surroundings, full of bird song. Well worth the money! Fantastic site - we will be returning! Thank you

Very helpful

As we have always had excellent times here we came with an air awning to set up for the week . Having never used an air awning before we were a little perplexed as to how to put it up with no instruction ! So I asked the wardens if they could help, they were only too happy to lend a hand and thanks to Graham and Marcus we had the most wonderful time with the grandchildren and an extra room !! Very helpful thank you

Great stay

Weekend trip to try out our new van, really like this site, only 45 mins away from home and easily accessible. Really enjoy the local walks and the site set up with its small alcove sections to give that extra privacy. Would be nice to have a bit of grass in between the pitches but they are nice and spacious. Facilities are great and nice and clean. Always a site we will return to. The Strickland Arms is a nice short walk away which is dog friendly and does great food.

Excellent in all ways

We arrived on 15 April and received a warm welcome at the well organised Reception. We were able to take an excellent pitch within easy walking of the ablutions. I have never seen such clean and well appointed loos and showers - they were spotless and the showers piping hot. The shop was well stocked and we enjoyed ice cold Coke and a couple of Magnums. The whole extensive site was well maintained. The site is located on an old Gunpowder works which adds colour to the place. There are guided tours by the National Trust as well as a handy guide which can be borrowed (50p) from Reception. Kendal is but 30 mins away by bike and there are great walks to Sizergh Castle and Levens Hall. The Farm Shop and Cafe linked to Sizergh is a particular treat. At £30 a night this was not cheap but you get the quality you pay for. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Our first Member stay

Well, my boys and I will definitely be making a return stay From our arrival and to saying goodbye the wardens were absolutely amazing As our first stay we were helped to pitch and two fellow caravaners whom had previously stayed came to help us erect our awning As the hard standing pitch needed steel pegs - we were able to buy these from reception The shower and w/c blocks are immaculate as they are cleaned each day The boys loved the site , they rode their bikes around and happily played tennis and football We visited the nearby farms and castle The Strickland Arms is pricey but the food is amazing and well worth a visit - booking essential I can’t praise the wardens enough - they work tirelessly and are super friendly and helpful We will return and stay longer Thank you for a wonderful week

Spring holiday

An attractive site set amongst the trees. We had a very good welcome and everything about the site was good. Next time we will find out more about the gunpowder mill.
