It was my first visit to this site. I was a single traveller with my dog. Felt very safe the whole time. Plenty of hot water for showers which are always immaculately clean as are the toilets and wash room facilities. Close to Kendal for amenities and essentials. Great base to explore the lakes. The beautiful river Kent runs alongside the site but was running very fast due to the rain. You can hear the owls at night. Excellently laid out with single secluded spots to several pitches in blades of their own. All electric hook up. The staff were meticulous in cleanliness, even a person walking about with a leaf blower daily keeping the road surfaces clear of slippery leaves and debris. All in all a fab stay and would definitely recommend a visit. Great!
Favourite Club Site
This is one of our favourite sites. You have your choice to hideaway in the trees or to find a pitch in an opening with the sunshine. 2 toilet blocks on site so always a loo available if you need one. Sizergh arms about a miles walk from site gives you 10% off upon showing your CAMC card. The National Trust has 2 x walks available on their website to print off and can be walked from site (about 4/5 miles). The river running past the campsite is a fabulous place to sit and watch the world go by. The pizza van that comes on a Friday I think it is is brilliant! The most amazing cheesy garlic bread and not ridiculously expensive either (£5 I think)
Excellent 1st Time Caravanning
Lovely peaceful site for our first time - loved the secluded pitches. Large site to walk around with lots of other walks and paths leading from it. Received a warm welcome and info about the site and area. It would be helpful if people would obey to social distancing measures and not congregate in large groups outside toilet blocks. Band system works when people remember to use it.
Fabulous site in the Lake District
This is a lovely site - well situated, peaceful, and beautifully laid out. We were unsure how a socially distanced caravan holiday would be, in this summer of Covid-19, and we were actually quite apprehensive; but the site wardens had everything in hand and had introduced excellent measures to ensure safety and confidence, so we could relax and enjoy our stay. The facilities were spotless, the band system worked well, the arrivals procedure was efficient, and the wardens carried it all out with smiles and good humour. We shall definitely return!

Feels like a Canadian National Park site
Generally quiet site spread around a National Trust wood 4 miles from Kendal. Pitches in clusters. We chose the top left corner (South West) pitch 29 and it was spacious and quiet. Lovely circular walks up to Sezergh Castle and beyond, and easy flat 4 mile each way walk into Kendal along the river and (partially filled in) canal towpath. Clean washrooms and helpful site teams.
a geat week end once again
This is a pleasant and well run site, and we have been here at least twice before, its very handy for the motorway if you are travelling north or south, and only about half an hour from the attractions of Windermere.
We had no trouble finding a pitch for our Motorhome amongst the hard standings sitting in please glades amongst the trees, you an if you feel energetic walk the few miles into Kendal following the river, or walk across the fields to the farm shop and also Sizergh castle; where, with the current meal support from the government we enjoyed an afternoon cream tea for two with coffee for the price of £5.00
There is also a pub within a short walk
The wardens are very helpful and the site is clean and very tidy
Fist time this year
I have to say I always look forward to visiting this Club site. it is one of my favourites on the network due to the fact its so unique and surrounded by wildlife in every direction.
On arrival the Site wardens welcomed me in their usual friendly and helpful manner. She explained that the site was in fact full and their was only 1 pitch available (of the type i had booked). This was no issue and i made my way to the pitch. The only drawback about Kendal is that some of the pitches are quite hard to reverse onto. The key is to take your time and have as many goes as you need.
Once set up I took in the fantastic wooded site... something I had really missed.
The local pub has changed a little since I last came and seems to be aiming more at the gastro put audience. Not really my thing but still a nice pint to be had!
Just up the road from the site is a lovely farm shop that sell lots of local produce, cheese, pies, eggs and beer. They Also have a RAW mild machine for toes like me who love to buy unpasteurised milk direct from the farm. You are able to buy hot food and breakfasts from the farm as well.
The site was a good mixture of solo caravaners, families and couples of all ages and the children playing on site were extremely respectful of others.
This site remains one of my favourites and I can not wait to return later in the year.
Covid procedures are in place and everywhere is very clean with the wardens going around during the day cleaning the touch points in the toilets / laundry etc. (Thank you for your continues hard work guys!).
1st Trip out since Lockdown Aug 2020
Easy access from motorway however stick to your arrival times as the road in is a little narrow and features a few potholes. Face mask required for reception area and supplied with covid pack of bands for showers. Barrier access with a fob and onto the site. The site pitches are level and situated in the woods but there's a lot of up and down roads/paths so, if you have mobility issues you may want to pitch near the facilities. The site info is very clear on what you can and cant do in this crazy time - although the wristband system is a little hit and miss, so dont stand a queue if there are wristbands as often no one is in the toilets/showers as they have forgotten their band... or like me, had it pinched off the hook -. Just off site is a bridge over the river into a great outdoor space for all ages that leads to a fabulous walk of 11 miles - can be cows in the field too. As is expected, site is clean and well maintained, wardens were friendly and Friday night is Pizza van night. Been a few times and never disappoints.
Lovely interesting site
We arrived late after a tyre issue but rang ahead. The staff were fabulous and were waiting for us. Site was full but we still had a decent pitch. Former gunpowder works so interesting site near river. Covid measures excellent. Stay fabulous just a stop over for us on way North. Would recommend.
