Disappointed

The Ladies were incredibly friendly at reception and we had a hassle free entry onto site. The water tap on our serviced pitch was broken when we arrived but it got rectified soon after we reported it. The site was very well maintained, facilities very clean / COVID secure, though unfortunately the toilet block nearest to us was closed for a full day due to a blocked drain. Luckily there was a second block on the other side of the site that remained open. The other guests on site were really friendly, as were the staff. The dog exercise area is very small indeed and not really worth going to. The only value it added as a dog owner was access to a dog poo bin (the only one on site).

In my opinion its not a quiet / peaceful site - on the other side of the hedge to our pitch there was someone undertaking a campervan renovation so we had building noises (sawing / drilling etc) until 11 at night most evenings. Additionally, the site adjoins holiday resort unity's play area on one side so there was quite a lot of noise from that (didn't bother us but I can imagine not everyone's cup of tea). My biggest gripe with the site is that the play area was closed for repair. It was one of the sole reasons we chose the site (we have very young children 3&5) and as we arrived the first day after the lockdown restrictions were lifted there was really no excuse for this (they had weeks to sort it while the site was closed). To add to this, there was no mention of the closure on the website so we weren't prepared for it and were left with 2 very disappointed little people.

The location was good - easy access to the seaside, Brean leisure park and Burnham on Sea. We also took a trip to Cheddar Gorge which id highly recommend. Whilst I appreciate that we visited after a long period of closure for the site so there were understandable teething issues, the negatives outweighed the positives for me so we wont be returning.

... and breathe....

Only our second visit here but another great stay. The site is so clean and well kept and such lovely wardens. They were extremely apologetic about our pitch ( 96 if anyone is interested) next to the children's playground right in the corner as we couldn't put our awning up to catch the afternoon sun. But we thought it was fab and it didn't matter. The pitch was out of the way with some noise from children playing but we didn't care and close to the dog walk and the facilities. We were surrounded by lovely club members who were willing to lend a hand. One couple had a starter motor failure, another had a water pump issue. All of us mucked in together to sort the problems out. The weather was cold, sunny and dry. Amazing dog walks on the beach ( as we come from Perranporth in Cornwall it must be something!) We were just so glad to be here. The site was very busy and was full on Saturday when we arrived. I think everybody was just glad to be out somewhere different after this long winter. All credit to the wardens and the Club for making sure everyone was safe.

Third stay and always good

We usually have one break away here each year and this was yet again another lovely stay. The facilities are clean and the site is well maintained and tidy. We like the grass pitch area, just feels a bit less busy than where the hard standings are and the shower block here is newer. The location is good as it is not in the hub of Brean which is not to everyone's taste, easy cycling along the back roads to Brean Down is lovely or join up with the off road track to Uphill. Short walk over the dunes to the stunning beach, if the sea was blue it would be perfect! Alternatively walk over to Brent Knoll across the levels. Great site and looking forward to returning

A well kept site

We have just returned from a two night stay at this site. We were greeted with a warm welcome and had a good choice of hardstanding pitches. Our first impression of the site is that it's well maintained and the facilities block was also spotlessly clean. The site was very peaceful during our stay, but I can imagine it would be noisier in the summer months as there are several large commercial sites surrounding it. It's an easy walk down to the beach with lovely walks along the beach to either Burnham or to Brean Downs.

Great short notice stay

We booked a 2 night stay less than 24 hours before arrival as we had an unexpected additional days whilst in the south west. We found the site clean and tidy. It wasn't particularly busy and were able to select our own pitch (used pitch 11). Well laid out, plenty of space on the pitch and amenities accessible. The amenity block was spotless and well managed. We felt completely safe. Arrival was a breeze with helpful and knowledgeable staff welcoming us. This was only a short stay but one of the best CAMC sites we have used. Not really able to rate the "Good for Families" item as we travel as a couple and don't travel as a family (all grown up!) so difficult to say. Would have preferred to have been able to give an N/A for that. Overall would recommend and we would certainly visit again.

Nice site but bad pitch this time

My Husband and I have been staying on this site for years previously in our caravan and now our motor home. It's a lovely site for going off for a walk on the Beach and cycling in the area too. But unfortunately we stayed here in September and as the site was almost full we were allocated a pitch. We were given pitch 93 which was has the dog walking area behind it plus the dog poo bin. And unfortunately the dogs didn't always make it to their area and messed on our pitch. The owners tried to clean it up but unfortunately they left mess on our pitch. Pitch 93 also had a sign on it saying 6.5 meter motorhomes only but ours is 7 meters long. I contacted the warden in reception and she said that's ok if you fit just park there. We didn't stay the 3 nights as the caravan next to use needed to leave on the Sunday. And we were worried he would have problems leaving his pitch between our motorhome and a sign post so we stayed on site to be there. I would only stay on this site if we could book a fully serviced pitch so we would know which pitches we would be on.

Best CAMC Site we've visited. But local area very commercialised.

The site is surrounded on 3 boundaries by a very large commercial camping/touring/lodge/static type holiday park. We stayed in late September and there was still quite a lot of noise from the adjacent site. The local area (Burnham on sea) is very bucket and spade, bingo, arcades etc and not our cup of tea. The beach is a pleasant walk away down the lane and across the dunes but it is not any good for paddling/swimming/surfing etc. The waters edge is literally a mile away from the top of the beach and folk don't use it. But it is dog friendly and lovely for a walk. If you are a pitch up and stay type person I would say this is one of the best CAMC sites we have stayed at (notwithstanding slight noise form adjacent commercial despite). The wardens do a fab job. We stayed on a grass pitch adjacent the children's play area (pitch 102?). The grass was immaculate. If one could pick this site up and move it somewhere else, it might well be the best in our club. .

Great Wardens

Just returned from Hurn Lane. Very nice site close to the beach and great off road cycling. Did not use toilets and showers but rest of site was kept immaculate. Best thing of all were the very helpful Wardens who go out of there way to help so top marks to them.

Excellent site

Stayed here for 3 nights. Great, spacious pitches. Grounds & all the facilities were well kept & spotless. Staff were very helpful. The site, and the area, were quiet, and there were lovely beach walks nearby, and also good cycle rides. Thoroughly recommended.

Lovely site but socialising is frowned upon!

Have just spent a few days at Hurn Lane with friends. Whilst the site is spotless and well maintained and the ladies who dealt with our booking tried their best to be helpful the petty and over rigid rules of the site spoilt the experience. We are 2 mature couples who are in no way rowdy but do like to sit together and have a drink and chat, outside when weather permits. On arrival we asked about pitching our awnings facing each other and after explaining that we only had camper vans with fairly small awnings the ladies on reception explained that normally the awning should go to the right of the camper or caravan but they didn't see this as a problem given that we would be using much less space than say a large motorhome and awning or car and caravan with awning. However, when the site supervisor was on duty next day he sent the two ladies to instruct us to swap an awning to the opposite side (he didn't come to tell us himself to make his reasons clear although he seems to have sited privacy issue which cannot be the case as the only ones affected were us facing each other). Physically moving the awning was not a big issue but it meant that the rest of our stay was affected because we both have elderly dogs who we like to keep an eye in while they're in the awnings/campers and we can't do this if one of the awnings is facing away. The situation would be even more of an issue if we had come with children and grandchildren and been made to sit apart. I have recently joined the club and was expecting some over rigid rules but this lack of flexibility and common sense rather ruined our stay.
