We are very new to caravan life, to be fair we only collected our first caravan 1 hour before arriving at this beautiful site. From the very moment we arrived we felt welcome and certainly not rushed. The site was easy to drive around with the caravan and there was loads of space for us to reverse onto the hard standing.
The wardens took time to explain the site rules and we soon felt a lot more at ease, they were especially helpful with lending us a corner steady handle as we did not notice our caravan did not have one (rookie error). People in nearby pitches were very friendly and offered a few pointers.
The site is very clean and calm with plenty of space between pitches and only a short walk from the beech. The directions given to the site were easy and accurate to follow, just take your time in the last few miles. The site seemed to generally level and our pitch did not require the use of any leveling ramps.
Thank you for looking after two rookies and their little dog, you made our first time away in the caravan every relaxed and enjoyable. We will certainly be back, loved every second of our stay.
A really nice site
We had a really nice time at Hurn Lane it was our 1st visit and will not be the last.
The site was well maintained and in good order with the usual high standard of the Caravan Club.
My only observation about the site would be with regard to access and the lack of signage to the site normally there a brown road signs but there are none on the access road. The directions in the book are very accurate but a visual road sign would help opposite the Hurn Lane junction as this is a very narrow road junction.and could easily be missed.
We had a nice walk to Brean one evening just be careful on the road lots to see and do in the area a walk up Brean Down is a must also a visit to western super mare and cheddar gorge.
Forgot to say
I wrote a full review earlier but forgot to thank -
The kind female warden who had to come and find our motorhome as I had stupidly forgotten to collect my gate pass.
The male warden who went beyond the call of duty to find a small nut for me without which one of our 2 chairs would have been useless.
This support is what a good Club is all about and I am most grateful.
Great site - very well maintained - excellent staff.
We came for 5 nights and had a very enjoyable stay. The site is well laid out with good spacing, and despite the fact that it is surrounded by other campsites it remains quiet and peaceful. When we were there the other campers were a mature bunch, and there was a noticeable lack of children.
The ablution blocks are standard CAMC layout but somehow seem rather more spacious. The wardens do a great job keeping everything clean and tidy.
The site shop was closed but we used the Nisa shop in the first campsite on the right on the way to Brean Down.
Frankly Burnham and Weston are not appealing to us but we did enjoy cycling to Brean Down and Brent Knoll. The area is a bit thin on things to see by bicycle.
Nothing to do with the wardens but I slightly despair when men leave the loos and basins in a mess. It is bad manners and selfish. I wish the Club would put up more signs encouraging people to use the loo brush - or at least to “leave the place as you would expect to find it”. Rant over.
We have enjoyed a thoroughly good stay here thanks to the good facilities and superb, hard working staff and highly recommend it to others.
Fabulous site.
Our first visit to this fabulous site. Pitchers well spaced out and level, all areas easy to access and plenty of shrubs and greenery to reduce any noise coming from the statistics which seem to engulf the club site. Noise levels went up on Friday and Saturday nights but nothing nasty.
We wouldn't like to be around during school holidays but all other times are ok.
People still seem to struggle understanding the wrist bands used outside the toilet blocks, so here's hoping that normality resumes in the near future. A great job done by the wardens on this very busy site. Thank you for your understanding when we didn't leave when we should have, thinking we were staying till Friday SORRY!, Wife put her hands up for that one. When we return we won't make the same mistake. And we will be back as the surrounding area has plenty to offer.
Enjoyable stay
Stayed here on the 5th of June. Family orientated, good clean site all round. Very small dog walking area but all in all an enjoyable stay.
Had the stop booked ages, arrived at 3pm with a 4.5 ton Motorhome and no hard standing left.
and several other large motorhomes arriving later all had to take grass pitches, it was raining hard and we just knew we were going to have problems getting off the next day as the ground was already soft. Several large hard standing pitches were also occupied by very small campers and caravans. I know they’ve paid for them but there is no way that a grass pitch is worth the same price as an hard standing.
The club really does need to allow booking by grass or hard hard standing and price accordingly, I’d much rather pay more and have peace of mind we’re not going to need mud runners to get off a pitch we’ve sunk into. I also know there was a survey on booking on standard pitches that can be hard standing or grass and some people said keep the status quo as they like grass. Well they’re lying because all the hard standings wouldn’t be taken by 12.30 book in if this was the case and if they’re not let them put their money where their mouth is and make booking spilt between grass and hard standing at all sites and I think you’ll see a very different information data set.
Best of all scrap grass pitches, most are not fit for purpose and go all hard standing and more fully serviced pitch to reflect the moving market.
I will not be returning to Hurn Lane unless I’m guaranteed a hard standing by booking a service pitch
Same problem exists at Tewkesbury and I don’t go there if can’t get service or multi surface pitch.
Great Site
Located approx 6 miles from M5 motorway we stayed at Hurn Ln for 1 night on our way to Cornwall. Great site which is well laid out with well maintained good size pitches and excellent toilet facilities. Limited time here but managed to fit in the 15min walk to the beach. Beautiful dog friendly beach with miles of clean sand to walk on. Wished we had been able to stay longer.

Nice site
Well we only stopped here as we were between CL’s.
Hurn Lane is a good site , easy to access. We used a service pitch as we were there for just one night. Wardens were polite and helpful.
Being used to CL’s we did find it very busy as to be expected on a site for 100 plus units.
We also found the number of yappy dogs quite disturbing!
However it is a good site, well organised and close local amenities!
We would use it again as a stopover.
Unfortunately
The reason I say Unfortunately, there are some of the other caravans are knocking out the Electric due to trying to heat up there awnings & not keeping their caravan up to date,, Gurrr due to the electric I first thought I had problems with my caravan NOT GOOD. no fault of the wardens. But a bit more communication would be good. The other thing is that most of the newer caravans have a lot more electrical s so not helping, So Caravan & Motor-home club I would say please look into updating the Electric on site.
The other Unfortunately thing is the site is sandwich between another site that has grown around the little club site & the play area from the other site ...Gurrrr.
But on the other hand the staff was doing the best they can & all was very clean & tidy as the site was Full, But on saying all this I would use it again but more in the quieter periods.
