Enjoyable stay

Stayed here on the 5th of June. Family orientated, good clean site all round. Very small dog walking area but all in all an enjoyable stay.

Had the stop booked ages, arrived at 3pm with a 4.5 ton Motorhome and no hard standing left.

and several other large motorhomes arriving later all had to take grass pitches, it was raining hard and we just knew we were going to have problems getting off the next day as the ground was already soft. Several large hard standing pitches were also occupied by very small campers and caravans. I know they’ve paid for them but there is no way that a grass pitch is worth the same price as an hard standing. The club really does need to allow booking by grass or hard hard standing and price accordingly, I’d much rather pay more and have peace of mind we’re not going to need mud runners to get off a pitch we’ve sunk into. I also know there was a survey on booking on standard pitches that can be hard standing or grass and some people said keep the status quo as they like grass. Well they’re lying because all the hard standings wouldn’t be taken by 12.30 book in if this was the case and if they’re not let them put their money where their mouth is and make booking spilt between grass and hard standing at all sites and I think you’ll see a very different information data set. Best of all scrap grass pitches, most are not fit for purpose and go all hard standing and more fully serviced pitch to reflect the moving market. I will not be returning to Hurn Lane unless I’m guaranteed a hard standing by booking a service pitch Same problem exists at Tewkesbury and I don’t go there if can’t get service or multi surface pitch.

Great Site

Located approx 6 miles from M5 motorway we stayed at Hurn Ln for 1 night on our way to Cornwall. Great site which is well laid out with well maintained good size pitches and excellent toilet facilities. Limited time here but managed to fit in the 15min walk to the beach. Beautiful dog friendly beach with miles of clean sand to walk on. Wished we had been able to stay longer.

Nice site

Well we only stopped here as we were between CL’s. Hurn Lane is a good site , easy to access. We used a service pitch as we were there for just one night. Wardens were polite and helpful. Being used to CL’s we did find it very busy as to be expected on a site for 100 plus units. We also found the number of yappy dogs quite disturbing! However it is a good site, well organised and close local amenities! We would use it again as a stopover.

Unfortunately

The reason I say Unfortunately, there are some of the other caravans are knocking out the Electric due to trying to heat up there awnings & not keeping their caravan up to date,, Gurrr due to the electric I first thought I had problems with my caravan NOT GOOD. no fault of the wardens. But a bit more communication would be good. The other thing is that most of the newer caravans have a lot more electrical s so not helping, So Caravan & Motor-home club I would say please look into updating the Electric on site. The other Unfortunately thing is the site is sandwich between another site that has grown around the little club site & the play area from the other site ...Gurrrr. But on the other hand the staff was doing the best they can & all was very clean & tidy as the site was Full, But on saying all this I would use it again but more in the quieter periods.

Disappointed

The Ladies were incredibly friendly at reception and we had a hassle free entry onto site. The water tap on our serviced pitch was broken when we arrived but it got rectified soon after we reported it. The site was very well maintained, facilities very clean / COVID secure, though unfortunately the toilet block nearest to us was closed for a full day due to a blocked drain. Luckily there was a second block on the other side of the site that remained open. The other guests on site were really friendly, as were the staff. The dog exercise area is very small indeed and not really worth going to. The only value it added as a dog owner was access to a dog poo bin (the only one on site).

In my opinion its not a quiet / peaceful site - on the other side of the hedge to our pitch there was someone undertaking a campervan renovation so we had building noises (sawing / drilling etc) until 11 at night most evenings. Additionally, the site adjoins holiday resort unity's play area on one side so there was quite a lot of noise from that (didn't bother us but I can imagine not everyone's cup of tea). My biggest gripe with the site is that the play area was closed for repair. It was one of the sole reasons we chose the site (we have very young children 3&5) and as we arrived the first day after the lockdown restrictions were lifted there was really no excuse for this (they had weeks to sort it while the site was closed). To add to this, there was no mention of the closure on the website so we weren't prepared for it and were left with 2 very disappointed little people.

The location was good - easy access to the seaside, Brean leisure park and Burnham on Sea. We also took a trip to Cheddar Gorge which id highly recommend. Whilst I appreciate that we visited after a long period of closure for the site so there were understandable teething issues, the negatives outweighed the positives for me so we wont be returning.

... and breathe....

Only our second visit here but another great stay. The site is so clean and well kept and such lovely wardens. They were extremely apologetic about our pitch ( 96 if anyone is interested) next to the children's playground right in the corner as we couldn't put our awning up to catch the afternoon sun. But we thought it was fab and it didn't matter. The pitch was out of the way with some noise from children playing but we didn't care and close to the dog walk and the facilities. We were surrounded by lovely club members who were willing to lend a hand. One couple had a starter motor failure, another had a water pump issue. All of us mucked in together to sort the problems out. The weather was cold, sunny and dry. Amazing dog walks on the beach ( as we come from Perranporth in Cornwall it must be something!) We were just so glad to be here. The site was very busy and was full on Saturday when we arrived. I think everybody was just glad to be out somewhere different after this long winter. All credit to the wardens and the Club for making sure everyone was safe.

Third stay and always good

We usually have one break away here each year and this was yet again another lovely stay. The facilities are clean and the site is well maintained and tidy. We like the grass pitch area, just feels a bit less busy than where the hard standings are and the shower block here is newer. The location is good as it is not in the hub of Brean which is not to everyone's taste, easy cycling along the back roads to Brean Down is lovely or join up with the off road track to Uphill. Short walk over the dunes to the stunning beach, if the sea was blue it would be perfect! Alternatively walk over to Brent Knoll across the levels. Great site and looking forward to returning

A well kept site

We have just returned from a two night stay at this site. We were greeted with a warm welcome and had a good choice of hardstanding pitches. Our first impression of the site is that it's well maintained and the facilities block was also spotlessly clean. The site was very peaceful during our stay, but I can imagine it would be noisier in the summer months as there are several large commercial sites surrounding it. It's an easy walk down to the beach with lovely walks along the beach to either Burnham or to Brean Downs.

Great short notice stay

We booked a 2 night stay less than 24 hours before arrival as we had an unexpected additional days whilst in the south west. We found the site clean and tidy. It wasn't particularly busy and were able to select our own pitch (used pitch 11). Well laid out, plenty of space on the pitch and amenities accessible. The amenity block was spotless and well managed. We felt completely safe. Arrival was a breeze with helpful and knowledgeable staff welcoming us. This was only a short stay but one of the best CAMC sites we have used. Not really able to rate the "Good for Families" item as we travel as a couple and don't travel as a family (all grown up!) so difficult to say. Would have preferred to have been able to give an N/A for that. Overall would recommend and we would certainly visit again.
