Hurn Lane Caravan and Motorhome Site

On arrival we went to reception to be allocated our pitch, we were met by a very friendly lady who told us were to get water and gave us a map of the site and told us to pick a place we liked and tell her where we parked, She also gave us a card to open and close the barrier when we told her our plot number. As usual people on the site were friendly and all said hello on inspecting the toilets showers washing up room and waste disposal we found them to be spotless and the groundsman made sure they were clean all day. It was a short walk to the beach through the sand dunes and Brean market was open during the weekend we managed to buy a few things that would come in handy the site itself was good but it would have been nice to have a pub within walking distance although you could take a short cut to Brean through another camp site overall a great place to spend a couple of nights

Noisy site

The site was clean and tidy and the Wardens were pleasant and friendly. We would not go to this site again when the schools were on holiday. Every day we were disturbed by children running, screaming, riding their bikes across our pitch, kicking footballs into the bushes at the si.de of our pitch. We did not get any peace or privacy until about 10.00pm when the children had gone back to their pitches. We go away on holiday to have some down time, not to be disturbed by other peoples children. Surely, the Wardens heard all the noise as it was across the site, but nothing seemed to be done. Our holiday was ruined

holiday site on the coast

We stayed 4 nights. Standard C&MHC site. Had little to do with the wardens but what i did i felt a few customer service lessons wouldn't go amiss. No shop and poor provision nearby. We walked the dogs to the beach a couple of times. Had a lovey free run. The local area has little going for it and I was surprised at lack of pubs and places to eat nearby, given the number of statics in the area. The 'dog walk' is pathetic and almost of no point. I let them loose until another dog wanted to use it. We had a lovely pitch, with well cut grass. The site is next to a commercial site and within sound of a Pontins holiday camp. This is a holiday area in high season. Nothing disturbed us but you could hear things. would we go back? Its not awful but not good enough to tempt us off M5. Only stayed because we couldnt get into Tewkesbury which is light years better.

Great 2 week stay

We have just returned home after a great 2 week stay at this site. We had a large hard standing pitch with plenty of space and right across from the toilet block which was always kept to a clean standard. The site itself is quite large with some grass pitches available close to the play area. The access road to the site is quite narrow so care must be taken we left quite early on our last data so that we didn’t meet another caravan coming in. There is plenty to do in the area such as Cheddar Gorge, Glastonbury, Wells Wookey Hole etc we also visited the John Haynes motor museum which is about an hour away but it was worth the drive. It is also possible to cycle into Weston Supermare and it is fairly flat so an easy cycle. Overall a great stay at a great site

Great site with terrible access

I have been using this great site for years. It is well kept with great wardens. The main problem with this site is the appalling access road . It is a one track road with passing places. Due to the local council currently not cutting the local hedges, the over growth now causes you to drive in the middle of the road unless you want your outfit damaged by overhanging branches. Add to this the increased local traffic of the static site next door, the access is simply dangerous. You take your life in your hands when you walk to the beach or walk your dog’s off site. The chances of meeting late departures are quite high if you arrive before 12 midday and an empasse will ensue. I believe a partial solution is to stagger arrivals and departures just like Cirencester which has the same problem and that is you must leave the site before 11am and not arrive before 1pm. That will also assist the wardens in preparing for new arrivals.

First visit lovely site

This was our first visit. Wardens were nice and facilities very clean. Nearby is Burnham on Sea which we personally did not rate. Ideal site for visiting Cheddar Gorge and Glastonbury. We took our dog to the beach it is a nice walk from the site and a loveley beach. We did see a nearby bus stop but didnt use it.

No good for dogs

A lovely site with very friendly wardens and excellent location very close to drive on beach. But, no useful facility for digs. “Dog walk” is only the size a standard pitch with a “dogs on leads” policy. The road outside is far too dangerous to walk the dogs.

First impressions on arrival

Due to lack of traffic arrived 27 minutes early to site but parked in late arrivals and waited behind 2 other families. We were greeted by a very rude head warden who stomped over to us and told us we were causing chaos arriving early. This was not true as cars etc could enter and leave site easily. We explained about traffic but she was not interested and walked off. At 12.00 we were greeted by head warden's husband who told my husband to wait in car and woman go pay. Very caveman attitude! The site is advertising for wardens and highlights interpersonal and customer service skills required. Think the head wardens could do with a refresher course. Luckily the other 2 sets of wardens were very friendly. We have previously stayed here luckily, otherwise first impressions would have been off putting. Apart from that site is nice, quiet, and great location for walking to beach.
