Up to the expected standards

As with all sites we have visited so far this met the same standards though a "welcome to our site" would have been nice. Dog walk on this site is not a dog walk, its a path to go passed the childrens play area, so we walked the dogs over the downs and on the beach which is not too far but the road to cross can be very busy. There is a Mace shop close by just outside a neighbouring campsite opposite the carpark area for beach. Staff there were very friendly. The band system for the toilets was just not working during our stay. Most times there were no bands outside but showers were in use, or there was bands but the block was empty. There was an ocassion when a man came out of the ladies while we were queuing to go in and many times there were more than the 4 allowed. I counted 7 on 1 particular morning. Buses run regularly for visits to Burnham and Weston super Mare whereas we walked to Brean several times, where there is several places to eat/drink. There is noise during the day and early evening from the amusement park which is not far as the crow flies but not loud enough to spoil our stay. A nice little site away from the hustle and bustle

Lovely site, great staff.

Stayed here for two weeks at the beginning of August and found the site to be clean and well looked after by the wardens. The approach is down a narrow lane with passing places, but we followed the club instructions and had no problems with a twin axle van. Breen is a short walk away, the beach is lovely apart from the litter left by people who can't be bothered to put it in the bins provided or take it back home. Breen is in my opinion now overcrowded with holiday camps, but Burnham on sea is still very nice. Weston super mare is within easy reach as are attractions for a family day out. We enjoyed our stay here but I doubt we will return as we didn't think much of Breen. Whilst the club site was well up to expected standards, great staff and good size pitches, it was some of the members who let things down. People who can't be bothered to clean the floor after a shower, or throw empty shampoo and soap wrappers in the bin. What I did notice on this site was a number of vans which had poles with flags and lights, and the awnings with flashing lights. This is the first year we have come across this on club sites, although we have seen it on commercial sites, not easy to enjoy the night sky when you have Blackpool illuminations across from you. If this is going to become common on all sites we will not be renewing our membership, but only time will tell.

Hurn lane site excellent, neighbouring site noise hell!

We loved this site. It’s clean and in a good location. The staff are friendly and the site is well kept. The only issue we had was the noise from the neighbouring site. The noise was all day long and at night and was so unbearable that my children (aged 5 and 7) couldn’t sleep until 10pm; which since they were tired was horrible for them. This was exacerbated by the fireworks that scared our two dogs so much that they were quivering with fright. Had we known that the neighbouring site was going to be so noisy we wouldn’t have booked this delightful Hurn Lane site.

School holidays !

Have used this site on a number of occasions for both stop over and longer stays. This year due to the shut down we ended up being on this site during school holidays, never again !!. Never have we experienced such loud and obnoxious children treating the site like a playground, screeching and shouting into late evening, no doubt while the parents were sat drinking. This is not being a killjoy by any means but due consideration surely is the key, the roadway is not a cycle racetrack either.. Of course the fault lies entirely with the parents. I was also somewhat disturbed by the speed of drivers on the approach road, clearly some locals do not like caravan visitors. Well done wardens as ever you are doing a superb job.

Stop Over

Stayed here for three nights on way back from Cornwall. Hurn Lane is narrow and you certainly wouldn’t want to meet another caravan coming the other way. Made sure we were off nice and early. Staff were friendly and the site well presented. Dog walking area very small. A lot of noise late into the evening from the nearby holiday home site. The 4 bands on hook was ok except only three showers in use in our block and I was caught out twice being the 4th person entering to find no shower available. Also my band was taken a number of times. 15 minute walk to the beach from site.

Happy to return to Hurn Lane

This was our 2nd visit to Hurn lane having used it last year as an overnight stop and been so impressed we decided to return and were not disappointed. It was our first experience of the Covid-19 arrangements and we were reassured as all went smoothly. No queues at the female blocks but the men were queuing a bit and we could have done with a bit of clarity around family groups. My husband and sons acted as if they were 3 individuals so all 3 queued in turn but in the womens blocks women were taking their kids in on one wrist band. Apart from that it was okay. From the site we walked to Brent Knowl and it was a lovely peaceful walk. Fellow walkers were really respectful too so no problems on narrow footpaths. We also cycled from the site past Brean to the National Trust car park at the end and walked up the headland. We know from past experience that the beaches are not for us - we are swimmers and they are not swimmers beaches so we were happy to walk along the beaches and save our dip in the sea for our next destination. We loved our grass pitch which was next to a hedge. The site was fairly quiet despite it being the main summer holiday so we will definitely keep this site on our list to return to. On our return journey we used Cheddar as our site to break our journey and are torn between the two really. We heard a bit of noise from the neighbouring site at night but it all quietened down by about 11 pm which we were all okay with. The site was immaculately clean and the wardens could be seen most of the time doing extra cleaning.

Great site but.....

We visit this site a few times a year since owning our motorhome 3 years ago, its always quiet well kept by the wardens who do a fantastic job and its close to the beach....but...we visited Hurn for 3 nights in August and how different it was, there were kids running wild in gangs pulling wheelies on their bikes, fighting, running and riding through peoples pitches, dog mess in the dog walking area i picked up 4 bags in one morning ( Not even my own dogs mess) we had our grand kids with us for the first time and they were watching the goings on in amazement, I told a lad off for doing wheelies nearly running into me i had to stop in my tracks, only to get a look and did another wheelie, one lad gave our granddaughter a 2 finger salute for no reason she is 6yrs old, I can only describe some of those children as ferrel, they were up still riding bikes and running around site at 10pm the wardens was doing their best going out at 10pm to speak to them, only to get back chat, which I withessed. I commend the wardens they were trying their hardest, personally I would not want their job, they were fantastic they kept the site clean as always, but we wont be going away in August again, what an eye opener, those dear wardens need a long earned rest after this month, is it because of Covid and being off from school for months with nothing to do or no where to go, or are those kids always like this?? I feel the parents should have more control over their children, and the kids should have more respect for the wardens and other site members. Rant over ...but all in all apart from this episode we generally love CMC sites, but will choose our dates more causiously in future or book adult only sites during school holidays.

Probably a different view to most who have visited before...

This was a short stay on our way home from Cornwall. Directions a little confusing as where is the Triangle garage? Access little tricky with site off a single track road, although not too far. When leaving, make sure you get off in good time for those early arrivals - there is obviously a good reason for not arriving before 12! Anyway, received a good welcome from the site staff, good pitch and very organised especially with current covid situation. The band system for the facilities block is good but there are people who still please themselves! I noted 5 people in the block on one occasion and one of our bands was picked up by someone else before we came out. Also, contrary to rules, people were walking across occupied pitches. We still felt relaxed on site and it was a good job as the surroundings weren’t to our taste. Gypsy/traveller communities very close by and while walking along to Brean for the first time, had 2 young lads walk past us with a BB style gun pointing at people! Sorry to sound negative, but we will not be returning to this area again even though the site itself is fine. Cars parked on the beach and not a place where you can paddle in the sea really. Felt that Brean, Burnham and Weston seemed a little neglected. So much litter and dog mess about. Such a shame really.

Great break after weeks in lockdown

What can we say. This was the first time out this year, and our first as official members of the club. What a great campsite. We have moved away from joint sites with tents due to the late night noise etc, but here was very peaceful and quite. Lovely facilities and plenty of space around each van. Our kids enjoyed exploring the local area and we even felt confident enough to allow them to explore the caravan site on their own (together) they as we loved it. We will definitely be back when we holiday again in Somerset. Well done team on maintaining great standards for the toilets/showers, check in was super easy and we felt very welcome by all staff members and other caravaners. Thank you

Peaceful

This was our first trip in our motorhome. My husband, my 14 year old daughter and I and our dog visited this site 3 weeks ago. The staff were very friendly and eager to help. The site was easy to find and the grounds were so tidy. This being our first site we had ever stayed on I was very pleasantly surprised with the cleanliness of the facilities, they were cleaned regularly and the grounds were always kept tidy. Only a short walk to the beach. We like to go places where it is peaceful and quiet and where we can relax outside on an evening, this site tucked all those boxes. We would definitely go again. Thanks to all at Hurn Lane.
